You need to create a swale system for the water to drain away from your home and other outbuildings during storms like this one. Like what they did at Tiny shiny house.

Tiny shiny home is in my opinion an oversized swale for how small the property is... As Geoff Lawton says, smaller property, smaller swales, bigger property, bigger swales. Multiple small swales work effectively as well.

I just realized after all these videos you've made of your building, it's an amazing success story. There are going to be people who would like to do the same thing in the future and they could reference your videos in order to succeed building their own compound. And congratulations on your new bicycle. Nice way to have a picnic somewhere. Thanks for making me smile.

How much water in the inground cistern?
What does the inside of the dome loo like? Haven't seen it in a while?
What caused the delay in this weeks video? I was getting ready to put out an APB and request a welfare check from the neighnors.

Isn’t it weird how those Colorado river toads just pop right up out of the ground when it rains, they’re kind of cute. We had one that for several years sat under our back porch light at night, eating all the moths. It was Like a pet, we would walk past him back-and-forth and it didn’t even bother him❤

What a cool little trip, especially on e-bikes. I’m laughing right now because my brother got a new e-bike that is rated for a max speed of like 30 mph. When he tried it for the first time, he got it up to like 40 and was super excited....until he realized it was displaying in kilometers per hour! 😂 Jim’s bike is probably set to kph and Jess’ bike is reading mph, which she showed in the video. Let us know if that’s the case. 😊 Can you update us on what’s going on with the cistern?

  • @rolandtb3
    @rolandtb3 Před 11 měsíci +1

You need to review your tipping technique to empty wet dirt from the full wheelbarrow. Run the risk of injuring your back. Either fill half way then tip. Or shovel one third, then tip. You will have more control. Hate to see you mixing cob at ankle height. Prefer a more ergonomic height off a low tabke/stand.
Great that you can both enjoy some away time riding the ebikes.

I get that your property has only a "gentle slope". I still think a ditch clear across in front of your building area , intercepting the slope and directing water where you want it to go, is needed. And nice to hear about the fully poly and IBC tanks, but conspicuous by its absence is whether there's water in the in-ground reservoir. Maybe it's down for repairs?

    You have power not used.
240dc or 24 dc hudrolic engine. For a small bobcat. In a small area. Run a live cable. Or batteries. 24 volt. Will not last long. But heat is a killer. I know........
Please put water pipes under the solar system. Contacting the back of panels. Solar panels get hot. You loss power. To hot. Solar need stay at a normal temp. ...
Use the hot water for other projects. So many things can do with hot water and steam.
It a shame no run pipe under the house for winter.
Australia in wa in aboriginal community it get bad hot. 1 inch ran a hr.
    But snow . No.
Cold yes -3 sun up 15 dc tops.
