You know i have the same problem right now. Waiting for an Albedo one to release, but i got an email that EMS is not available anymore and immediately wrote to customer service and they said and i quote "only FedEx is currently available for 75usd extra and surface parcel witch is wont cost any more but takes about 2-3 months to ship". Dude i think 75 is ok, because i can't imagine using surface parcel and when it will finally arrive it would be so beat up. Its tough ordering anything from abroad nowadays.

fwiw I always use surface AND an intermediate freight forwarder and the figures have always come in great. The wait you have to get used to though
Surface would be good for saving money but if your items get lost or damaged you won’t be able to get your money back so you risk losing money and figures

The MegaHouse GEM Itachi was 17000 yen for EMS, and 34000 for DHL. The figure was 38,000 yen. Shipping is killer if you’re a collector. That was just one of my many figures this month. I have eStreams Neon-City Rem and Ram coming soon, on top of some Native preorders due out soon.
That Itachi w LED base was only slightly bigger than my 2nd biggest shipment from amiami but it was like 4x more expensive . First time I used EMS but it only took like 6 days so it was well worth it

I was glad to take advantage of the yen being so low i picked up the megahouse Itachi susano w LED base which I was already expecting to be my most expensive shipping but I didn’t expect DHL to cost the same as the figure. Box was incredibly massive but I’m glad EMS was available saved me at least $100

I would highly suggest shipping it to a mail forwarding service in America if you want the other shipping options. You can pick it up yourself if you send it to a city close to you, or pick a forwarder that does deliveries.
I like the figure, my only fate figures I have pre ordered is the Mordred figure, and Jean Alter re run by ALTER
I always use proxy services when I want to ship things from japan. Have packages delivered to the service’s address in japan and they would help you ship them overseas. I live in HK and the one I use only charges by weight (around $3 usd per lb) without additional handling fee so it’s a much cheaper option.
Are those trustworthy?
Honestly, much respect to non-Americans who are still figure collecting despite the high shipping prices over there. I couldn’t imagine paying for shipping that cost MORE than the figure itself. My limit on shipping is $60 and if it goes over that amount, then I gladly ship via surface parcel.
If I weren’t in America, then I think I would’ve quit figure collecting a long time ago (or at least took a break until shipping stabilized). The prices you guys have to pay for shipping (and on top of that customs) is absolutely insane! I don’t know how you guys do it.
Where you order from then? 😂 I live in Chicago I’d love to know how you manage to pay almost nothing for shipments, my Itachi from amiami was going to be $250 for shipping alone
@@taliban223ms3 I actually didn’t start preordering until recently (like one year ago) so a lot of my figures came from other people in the USA (meaning low shipping rates). When I started to get into using Amiami before the yen fell and when airmail was still suspended, I was using surface mail if DHL/EMS was too high.
Now that the yen has fallen and airmail is back, I’ve just been using airmail which runs me like $40 for 2 scale figures in one box (or $45 for one 1/4 bunny in one box). It also helps that I don’t order really big figures. I’m strictly talking about Amiami for this section since I mostly only use them.
AmazonJP also has some really good shipping rates in general (especially during the preorder period for 1/4 bunnies).
I am in Louisiana if that helps any.

I got her off Good Smile. Her base price was higher, with basically no "discount", at 24800 yen. But somehow shipping was only 2000 yen... and it was air mail (you don't get to choose method, I thought it'd be sea, but it turned out to be air, got it like 2 days later and I was quite surprised)
So overall... better price than most places due to how expensive shipping is.
There is actually a tad of a story on shipping. I originally bought her off nin-nin, with a lower base price and an actually reasonable amount of shipping cost (sea mail though). Then, prior to release, they informed me that additional shipping is required. Which isn't entirely unreasonable given that shipping cost *is* going up but... It lead me to look elsewhere just in case (and I found the GSC). Thing is, nin-nin required paying up front, and I ordered her before the yen dive, so the refund ended up being more than what paid for GSC, it would in fact be more than what I would need to pay for nin-nin with the increased shipping if converted back to yen. I guess... they aren't very good at math or something when they asked for more money. In any case, contrary to some posts I've seen in places, the refund did go smoothly, money went back to my account quickly.

I actually put japanese figures on back order and started ordering chinese studio products because there much larger for about the same price it just isn't worth it to pay 400 for a 1/6th figure or smaller.
The way I see it, you pay for the box, they decorate the shit out of it

Bought Belfast from HLJ. 21800 yen for her and 8060 yen ems to the UK.
I think it was not bad.
Then I bought Okita from Amiami was 20560 yen ems cost 11400 yen to UK at 20k for her nice figure it's pretty nice.
HLJ also copied the same pricing by putting a sale on their postage but was too late as I bought the amiami one already.
In the other hand, I checked FedEx and dhl pricing and yes they arrive fast but they were at 25-30k yen. Crazy.
But yeah, postage aside.

@@ninjablade2 Did you use Paypal? You can probably refund it but you might get banned from that site to buy stuff from it after doing a forceful refund. Contact them and explain your reasoning in a proper explantion. They might give you a chance but afterwards you're screwed if it happens again.

I live in France and DHL is actually one of the better options for me.
The default shipping method most sites use is express postal delivery, which ends up going to a company called Chronopost. This is a company that not only is slow to process packages despite being an express-only delivery company but also has 100% chances of getting your packages checked by customs because they ask you for a 21€ administration fee for clearing it on delivery. With auto VAT (country + European) on packages checked by customs, you end up with 25%+21€ to pay on top of shipping fees. The worst part is that you need to pay cash on delivery & they don't give change.
It ends up being worse than paying amazon international delivery or DHL.
Whenever I buy anything from Japan and there isn't an option, I pray it doesn't go through Chronopost.
