    As a chap who has migrated to sailing boats from commercial inshore fishing boats, I find your tutorials most informative. Thankyou

    Brilliant!! Just bought a yacht after 25 years since sailing last, haven't taken delivery yet so I'm brushing up on what I've forgotten. These 2 videos have been extremely helpful.
    I bought a Macgregor 26X and yes I know, I know.... But I like the simplicity of the layout (minimal sail setting options), perfect for the novice solo sailor. And these days, I ain't in no hurry...........

    You have it backwards, headsail car goes forward in light wind, not aft.

  • @spaceoddity2485
    @spaceoddity2485 Před 8 měsíci +14

    For a headsail in LOW winds you would more the jib car FORWARD. You have this wrong in your video. LOW winds = Forard (more bottome curve) High winds = BACK (flatten bottom)

    ib basic sail trim #2 at 4min 36. what do you mean by 'moving the sheet traveller aft" ? Isn't the sheet traveler fíxed in place? How can you move it aft?

    • @searchingforcoconuts2248
      @searchingforcoconuts2248  Před 2 měsíci +1

      greetings and thanks for watching and adding comments. The sheet traveller is fixed in place, but the block on the sheet traveller can slide fore or aft. Check 4:00 it shows the block is on a track. Not all sailboats will be fitted with this track. In racing, this will get adjusted often. If your boat has no track, the sheets run through a block to the winch, which is fixed. Hope I understood your comment and added some clarity, much appreciated

    Isn't adjusting the car/traveler for a jib under load generally not advised?
