- In this video I take a look at the Assetto Corsa Legends Prototype mod by Bazza and Smallblock Hero. For fans ofolder racing cars, this is one of the more interesting car mods for Assetto Corsa. These cars are an important addition to Assetto Corsa for those of us that have an eye on the past - and I'm pretty thankful that we have access to them.
The pack contains 9 legendary sports prototypes mods for Assetto Corsa. Including the Chaparral 2E, Ferrari 312PB, Ferrari 33P4, Ford GT40 MK4, Lola T70 MK3, Lola T290, Mclaren M1B & M8C Can-Am cars and the Porsche 917K. The prototypes pack is part of the wider AC Legends Assetto Corsa mod, with the other pack containing a collection of GT and Touring cars, but I'll be covering those in another video.
You can download the Assetto Corsa Legends Prototype Mod (V1.16) from the following link:
www.mediafire.com/file/oah0arv...
Note After putting together this video, I realised that the Chaparral has a simulated dog box, so doesn't require the use of the clutch to shift. On upshifts, you can just lift the throttle, but on downshifts you have to precisely rev match. That being said, my understanding is that many drivers choose to downshift using the clutch in such arrangements, as it's both kinder to the equipment and makes it much harder to lock the rears.

I have a question about the mod, I cant seem to get the Ferrari 330 and GT40 to work. Whenever I try to start a race it just crashes with those two cars. Any suggestions?
Hey VitaminZeth - I've not encountered this issue, but I'll pin your comment to the top of the page and hopefully someone that knows how to fix it will see. Sorry I can't be of more help.
Chris Haye Thanks either way! Means a bunch! Atleast its only two cars, so its not too bad.
No worries - hope you get the problem sorted.
Try deleting and reinstall. That solves 90% of mod issues for me. Are you using content manager? If not, try that and download the mod through CM as to make sure the files are going in the correct place.
Yes I installed it through content manager. By dragging the archive and letting CM install it for me. Ill try doing it through CM and see if it works
can't believe how professional these videos look and sound, great review!
Thanks for the kind words AlphaState of Mind - glad you're enjoying the videos!
another quality review mate,
your fast becoming my number1 mod channel of choice at the mo.
Thanks EJ, as always.
An awesome review, thank you! I am a diehard GPL fanatic, which I have been racing since 1999, but now I am really considering AC, thanks to this video 😊
lots of great content coming for AC in the past few months, but so little time to appreciate them all... thanks for the review!
Thanks Procra Stinator - Yeah, tell me about it! The new VRC Indycar is my current favourite new toy. Should have a video finished this week.
This is a very nice review - great points and wrap up of the different cars in the mod!
Thanks Dirk - much appreciated!
The McLaren's are very close to my heart as im a new Zealander and find it so cool that bruce made his own cars and them be competitive. That just isn't possible today.
its possible if you're rich as fuck
Thank U . Been a big fan of the chaparral since I seen it when I was 6 . The raw racing era . . .
Congratulations Chris on the 1000 landmark, at least 100 more to come of those I hope .
Thanks man - I'll see what I can do!
Just found your channel and subscribed. This was by far the best mod review I’ve seen. Very nice job. Looking forward to watching more.
Hey mattcwell - thanks dude, much appreciated!
amazing edit man , thank you
Thanks again gopherchucks! Much appreciated.
Awesome Chris! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Marcelo - much appreciated.
An absolutely first-class video: informative, measured, and atmospheric, it did it's job in making me want to drive these glorified tin cans.
As always thanks for the kind words Stephen. Heh, I'm pretty sure that at least Lola T290 had a fibreglass shell, so perhaps they're not all tin cans!
You deserve so many more subs dude, love your content!
Thanks for the kind words VitaminZeth - much appreciated!
Thanks Chris, another solid presentation. The Chaparral 2E, designed and raced by Jim Hall, is easily the most innovative car in this pack. It was the most innovative car in the world when it was introduced, and the world took a while to catch up. That huge wing is driver adjustable in real life, via a foot pedal which also adjusted the front aero hidden in the nose. The rear wing is also mounted to the suspension uprights, which allows it to put downforce on the tires while bypassing the suspension springs. Rather than a conventional clutch, Hall used a torque converter (as in an automatic trans) and eliminated the clutch pedal. This allowed the driver to operate the wing pedal with his left foot, or to left-foot brake. To this day, only a handful of people know exactly how he designed that system. There were many other innovations in this car, and in all Chaparrals from the 2A onward. See the book, 'Chaparral', by Richard Falconer and Doug Nye.
I'm pretty excited about finally getting around to trying these car mods. Hopefully I can try a few of them this week :)
It's a fun pack, there's something in there for everyone.
Great vid intelligently presented. Subbed.
Hey SpaceMonkeySalo - thanks for the kind words, much appreciated!
Hey Chris, I have watched your last 3-4 video's now, after discovering your Channel from the CZcams recommendations - and we seem to be cut from the same cloth. Meaning you appreciate the classic cars as much as any modern car. I also drove the GT Legends pack (all 3 actually), after getting a message from Bazza directly. I was even rapt to make it into his .PDF ; ). But I am a much more amateur Channel that you seem to be at this stage, and really just like doing it for the love of sim-racing, But I really like your professionalism & delivery as well as video quality, so lets get you one subscriber closer to that crucial CZcams 1K barrier ; )))
Hey SingleRacer, thanks for the comment and the kind words - they're much appreciated. I do very much enjoy driving older cars. There's something quite rewarding about taming a car that really isn't all that well behaved! But then again, I also find reward in taking modern cars and getting them as close to the limit as possible. The thing about sim racing, is there's a lot of depth to it these days, and plenty of different niches to explore.
I haven't had a chance to check out your videos yet, because I'm at work, but looking at your page it looks like the content is very much up my street!
Subscriber Nr 28.000 here. Great Vids mate.
Great video
Hey A_M, thanks as always. I tried racing in socks and it just wasn't happening ;)
...racing in socks is just for the toughest feet out there :D
Chris Haye , what boots are those?
Nice video. One thing to remember about the kunos cars that are "included" in the pack is there physics will be a little different from kunos. They have been "tuned" to race with the other cars in this pack. So while they look like the kunos cars they have different tyres and such which changes how they drive. Oh and make shore you get the new version of the GT Legends pack. Just got updated. I look forward to more videos. Cheers.
Thanks for the comment drdoomslab - You make a good point. I sort of skipped over talking about the cars that are duplicated by Kunos, as the video was already getting unmanageably long. Someone else mentioned the updated GT Legends pack in a comment on another video, I've got it downloaded, but haven't had a chance to play yet. Looking forward to giving it a spin, particularly the Shelby Daytona, which is a personal favourite.
the cars should be tuned to work with the kunos cars
Your content is so refined and precise. So good to watch and to listen to. Since you use a lot of replay footage, you might want to check camTool 2 on Racedepartment. An incredible tool. I love spending hours playing with cameras, angles... making cinematics. The guy who made it deserves a lot of praise, the work is amazing. Keep up, I'm loving your videos.
Hey Giulliano, thanks for the comment and the kind words. Wow, Cam Tool 2 is exactly what I've been wanting! Thanks for letting me know about it, it looks perfect!
Great mod. The Chaparral 2E had a driver-controlled rear wing and front flap (controlling airflow in the front), effectively giving the car DRS. The control was with the driver's left foot as there was no clutch to work given the car had an automatic transmission. It would have been cool to see this feature activated in the simulated car as it would have given it more realism.
Classic Race and Formula Cars are the only ones I care for really :D And old tracks of course. Assetto Corsa in combination with race departement makes some dreams come true for me^^
This is EXCELENT. 🚦🏁🏁🏁
Appreciate the review, thanks - I've just downloaded the GT version but not installed yet. BTW, you may be interested to know that the creators have now added a 512S (Coda Corta) and a Lola T280 too.
Thanks for the comment Rodger - I've got the newly updated GT pack, but haven't got around to having a drive yet - looking forward to it. Thanks for letting me know about the 512S and T280, that's new to me, good news at that! Both very useful cars for early 70s racing.
Congratulations on 1k subs mate, i comented on previous video saying "you'll get to 1k before july", to which you replied saying that it would be a stretch. Well i was right. It's amazing how fast the channel has grown since i discovered you at 200 subs. Here's to the next 1,000 and to monetisation 😉 😊
Simon SNB well said Si !
Hey Simon, as always, thanks for the kind words. You were very much bang on with your prediction. So, If you happen to have tonight's lottery numbers I'm all ears!
Can't agree more. I'm working my way through all the playlists and downloading the Mods as we speak :)
As always your commentary is insightful and a pleasure to listen to. However, I wish this video was tagged with the names of the tracks you are driving. I'm relatively new to Assetto Corsa and find this to be a great way to find new tracks to drive. As another big fan of older cars, and tracks, looking forward to more of the same.
Thanks Mark - much appreciated. Mea Culpa on that one, I usually try to put on a little overlay crediting the creators of the tracks I'm using. Here is a list of the tracks, all of which are available from Race Department or as official Kunos content.
1) Lola T70 - Riverside [by Lilski]
2) Mclaren M1 - Laguna Seca [by Kunos]
3) Chaparral & Mclaren M8 - Bridgehampton [by Lilski]
4) Ferrari 312 - Donington Park [by Brun]
5) Ford GT40 - Le Grand Circuit (1967 Le Mans) [by Terra 21]
Finally, the Lola T290 is racing at the classic Kyalami layout, which is a personal favourite. It's available from the Assetto Corsa Reboot Project, at the link below.
actrackrebootproject.wixsite.com/ac-track-re-boot
Hope that helps Mark - thanks for the kind words!
Goosebumps 😀
Brilliant video.
Thanks Zero Velocity Racing - much appreciated.
The 70's prototype era cars were so beautiful...
They really were. If you ever get a chance to see a historic race event with cars from that era, I can't recommend it highly enough.
That's something I'll definitely consider doing in the future. I'll never forget the 512 M hotwheeI car I had as a kid. I didn't even know it was a Ferrari until I got older 😂
Ah man, tell me about it. All the model cars I had as a kid - I had no idea how amazing some of them were until I was much older... and it was far too late! ha.
Good stuff as always Chris. Love the old cars, the men that raced these beast had some very large balls of steel. I know some may argue, but today's world of high cost, tech and safety have ruined a lot of real life racing series.
Thanks MrPflynhi - much appreciated. I'm with you there. I think racing series are really struggling to find the right balance between keeping their participants and spectators safe, and making sure they don't ruin their product in the process.
Thank you for the informative and good video .I take it this mod is for PC version only .There is an upcomming Assetta Corsa game . This would be good as a content pack and better still if it could be available for console play . I would love to see a model of the six wheel Tyrel F1 car .
Beautifful cars and vidéo.
Thanks Michel!
Really nice video, awesome old beauties!!
And I'm totally with you, I just can't get enough of old historic cars in my sims! :)
They have so much more to them than the newer cars, and are also a lot more fun to race with a H shifter and heal and toe.
Hey R-VR Closet - Thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy driving modern cars, and I appreciate the talent that it takes to extract every last drop of performance out of them, but they just don't quite 'stir the soul' in quite the same way.
Nicely put!
Yeah, love cars in general, but older cars appeals to me on a deeper level, or am I just getting old.. . ;)
I think we all are! ;)
Hey Chris, Just found your channel when looking for setup tutorials. Awesome content! I was watching this video and it inspired me to take a shot at doing some Balance of Power work. I used the GPL car set. Do you have any advice or can you share your approach to BoP adjustment?
My approach was to start with a 7 lap race and look at the total time. Then I started applying restricter limits on the fastest car (the Cooper T81B) until it was about the same speed as the slowest car ( the Mantra MS5). I was then going to apply the correct proportions to all the other cars based on the initial test race results. Is this a good approach, is there a better way? Should I look at fastest lap instead of total time? Should I use ballast in addition to restricter?
Thanks for the super channel!
The 2E Chapparal had a foot operated control of that huge wing. Basically a DRS. Gorgeous mod overall.
I must admit, I love reading about the early Chapparal days, Jim and his guys just seemed to be able to take a look at any part of the car, apply an "outside the box" sort of solution, and somehow make it all work. Brilliant really.
The Chaparral has an automatic gearbox so that's why it is a bit strange in game.
Hey Tobias - The real car had a 3-speed automatic box, but I was under the impression that the mod has a sort of simulation of a dog box, so you just have to lift off the throttle to shift.
Downloaded the mod this morning and spent an hour or two running them all around Watkins Glen. The 2.0L Lola has such a top end disadvantage but it is certainly a great car for new to period drivers. Maybe running it somewhere like Magione or the smaller, tighter British tracks where top end is not needed. I like the Ferrari 312PB and the Mclaren M8C. I was quickest around the Glen in the M8C. The Lola T70 did not do much for me. I suspect it is my love for all things Mclaren that colors my opinion some. The Ferrari 33P4 was okay but nothing special. I expect that I will be spending time in the 312Pb and the M8C at my favorite track, the Nordschleife, a fair amount. It will be interesting to hear other views on favorites from more people.
Hey John, thanks for the comment. As a life long Mclaren fan, I know the feeling! As I said in the video, I think I prefer the M1B to the M8C, but they're both great fun.
If the Lola T70 Mk3 really is a similar pace to the GT40 & 908LH as the guy in the video suggests I guess something is really wrong. I helped out with the T70 Mk2 mod and we got it lapping a few tracks at a similar pace to the real car (mainly based on Surtees' car at Silverstone) and that thing destroys the GT40, 908LH & even the 330 P4... with Chevy power it isn't a million miles off the pace of the 917K! I assume the Mk3 should be even faster still unless it has a 302 in it or something :D
Also the Renault R24 is a great mod, could be worth a video
Good shout Sam - all of the VRC modding teams F1 cars are great. I've been playing with their 1999 Indycar mod this weekend, it's absolutely sublime.
How has it taken me so long to discover this mod!!!!!?
Carbon Fibre Guided Missiles, never has there been a more appropriate description of a Modern Day Prototype, HAHAHAHAHAHA
0:20 sounds like he's singing.
If you'd heard my singing, you'd probably think differently!
I think the Lola mkiii and gt40 mkiv are more on par with the 917k ad Basa's other car not in this pack the Ferrari 512S.
OT: Bazza, the '74 Porsche 911 Carrera file(s) is/are corrupt. Another d/l site?
noice
Thanks dude!
Hey man great video as usual. I'm afraid my right foot isn't cultured enough to drive these cars (the Lola 290 excepted - that car is a blast around Feldbergring) but they're a class and period I'd really like to get myself into - any quick 'n dirty driving tips other than "take the brick off your foot you bleedin' idiot"? :P
Hey Viperion - as always, thanks for the kind words. I can imagine the T290 goes like a rocketship around Feldberg, I'll have to give that a try. I'm afraid as far as driving tips go, you've sorta nailed it there!
can you do a video on tuning a setup, as i have 300+ hrs in ac, however still am confused with camber ajustments etc
Hey Sam - thanks for the comment. I've been playing around with some ideas about how to tackle that sort of video. There are a few videos out there that tackle the subject, but they're like a classroom lecture, so I want to avoid that if possible! But, hopefully, I should have a video out reasonably soon about setups.
Thanks, i love all the car mods from Bazza, all done to a great quality
Please do more of the Riverside track mod. Why? Because you should.
Hey man, great video. Quick question, What´s the track at 6:08?
There's a comment from Chris up above that lists the tracks - that one I believe is the Le Grand Circuit (1967 Le Mans) by Terra 21
Hye jujojija24 - thanks for the comment. As Viperion said, it's the 1967 version of Le Mans by Terra 21. You can find it on Race Department under the name "Le Grand Circuit".
5:44 hear that Vtec? :D :D
obrigado
there is also the Ferrari 512s in that mod
Hey cj386 thanks for the comment. Another commenter pointed out that the pack has been fairly recently updated to include the 512S and a Lola T280 - which is great news! Really helps flesh out the early 70's race fields.
Anyone had an issue with the Ferrari 330 P4 where it appears to be driving as if its got a Pit Limiter on ?..... I can't get it to go above 160 Kph ( approx. ). I've uninstalled and re-installed several times but still no joy :(
l dont get how you have only just as many subscribers.
Thanks Bálint Orehóczki - I'm quite new to making videos and it takes some time to grow on CZcams!
I really like your work but I hate seeing 10 Chapparal's on the track at the same time when there should only b one . . .
Hi, please how can we tell @Bazza and Smallblock Hero that their mods are just awesome and discuss them ?! Really those guys are fantastic for us classic cars lovers, as their job simply is brillant.
Nice review, I'll try this mod out. That rear wing on the Chaparral looks ugly as fuck for my taste.
Thanks Bence Varga - By today's standards, it looks absolutely ludicrous, but at the time it was quite clever really. The wing self-adjusted to provide more downforce at lower speeds. And those tall pylons that its mounted on connected directly to the wheel hubs - meaning that the car could be set up much softer, as the suspension didn't have to take into account the extra "weight" that the downforce was providing.
Please make Minolta Toyota 88 CV for this game. :/
Hey Platinum_MLG - I second this!
I know right :/
Hey,i just got this game with the intention of recreating group 5 f1,gt,dtm and endurance races fro the 60's to the 90's and early 2000's and i seem to be finding dificult on finding the right cars and tracks,i dont want it to be supet perfect, but i dont want something like a 80's prototype racing a 90's one(unless that was the case).I really enjoy older race cars but it seems i dont know much about them motorsport wise other than they existed. My question is,where could i find info about older racing sesions, the tracks they used and the cars raced? So far i got the gt legends mod, some loose cars like the zackspeed capri and escort and the m1 turbo and i might give this pack a go,same goes to the drm revival mod,but could i get some mod sugestions or a place better than wikipedia to gather info on what cars to use?
Hey vicFiBi - my favourite source of information on the web for classic sportscar racing is www.racingsportscars.com/ The site has lots of entry lists, photographs, results etc. for most major racing series dating back to pretty much the dawn of time!
As for other classic car mods, there is of course the Other AC legends pack, that includes more touring focussed content. Aside form that, the F175 mod (google it) is a lot of fun, as is is the F5000 pack by Smallblock Hero and Bazza.
@@ChrisHaye thanks a lot man,youre amazing
it seem i cant find the f175 and f5000 mods, but ill be on the look out for them if they ever resurface
Where's the Chaparral 2J? It's a frickin' legend!
Jim Hall is a genius. There is a 2j mod floating around, which I think is a rip from one of the console titles. I don't know if it's any good, but that type of rip usually isn't so hot. Not sure if any of the sims could accurately model the vacuum fans either! :D
Might be of interest to some in relation to the Ford GT40 Mk IV Sim Racing Talk & Drive | Carroll Shelby & the Ford GT at Le Mans: czcams.com/play/PLTspiu_SHlAG727dxLoDg6zux5phUM-eF.html
What track is this?
Hey Solid Kreate - there are a few mod tracks featured in the video - what time? Whatever the case, it's either Donington, Bridgehampton or Riverside.
First^^
Winning!
The GT 40 compared witnh an aircraft carrier ?! Man dont be so mean...
its a old version! 2.0 is now :)
www.mediafire.com/file/kczzrxaj2oab5va/Assetto+Legends+GT+Classic+2.0+by+Bazza.rar
Thanks Marcel, but that's a link to the GT Classics pack. Do you know if the Prototypes pack has been updated with a V2.0 version? I haven't been able to find one.
sorry my fault :(
No worries Marcel!
BULLCRAP THIS MOD DOES'IT WORK AND HELP ME
