Gohan's "Here I come, Piccolo!" sounds really close to his Funimation voice
Hugo Hikari He really does sound like Kyle. Cell is done very well, too.
This was recorded way before the Funimation Dub, so they weren't trying to match any particular voice. The voice direction just so happened to get Gohan close to what he would be later on.

this is best goku american voice tho. aside from ocean. that captures the jap goku spirit as well.
Cell and gohan sound really decent when looking back at this, not too far off.

Carcinoma De cerberos The game's canon is all over the place, based on the dialog. He's vaguely familiar with Mystic Gohan, but with Frieza, he recites a line you'd hear from the Namek arc.
Gabriel Flores Yeah, any of the special dialogue takes place from when they would be meeting at that point in the series.
Like when Goku fights Cell, Cell says, “So, you’re first? I wanted to save the best for last.” THATS what Cell said when Goku went first for the Cell games.
Piccolo saying Gohan’s ki is different is what Piccolo said when he saw Mystic Gohan approach Super Buu.
So Piccolo’s line to Frieza would take place when he fused with Nail and arrived to save them from Second Form Frieza. It’s supposed to be a nostalgic thing I guess.
Characters like Adult Goku never had any special dialogue (He was only featured in the last two episodes of DBZ) so he doesn’t have any special dialogue. Neither does Vegitto since he only fought Buuhan. It would have been nice for them to add some non canon dialogue though.
Was there still a living Namekian.

Reading some of the comments here about the voices being close to the Funimation dub - don't forget, this game came out before many of the characters were ever given a voice actor AND before Funi took over DBZ. That's right. The newest episodes at the time were still the Ocean dub. I remember the excitement of being introduced to Super Saiyans via this game. Buu. Cell. Adult Gohan. Trunks. Frieza's final form. Baby. Pan. Kid Goku. Vegetto. None of this had been covered in the episodes aired in the US at that point. It was all very exciting to take in... even if the game itself wasn't very good.

@@JonathanPaspula There were lot of dub haters who just say you're supposed to watch it on the sub because that's how you're supposed to watch anime. Which is so damn wrong and misleading.
As you know, the entire English cast is most likely Uncredited, but Budokai was the first game(If Legacy of Goku counts)that Funimation dubbed the game
You know, some of these voices are pretty cool, just unfitting in some cases. Steve Blum is a pretty cool Goku, and whoever did Cell had one awesome voice (just maybe unfitting)!
Midnight Twister I think Cell sounds pretty good, slightly subdued and missing the faint European inflection Funi's Dameon Clarke uses.
Cell was voiced by Jonathan David Cook, though you may know him better as the BGY-11, otherwise known as Big Guy.

The funny thing is... even though its not that great.. this was actually a lot of effort for a dragonball game at the time. When this was released goku hadnt even went super saiyan in the dub on toonami
Yep, I bought it when it first came out since I was watching the bootleg VHS tapes back in those days and I wanted anything Dragonball that came out in America. It was weird that America wouldn't see GT on Toonami for almost a decade later.
When this was released, they were still showing re-runs of the Ocean Dub. It pretty much didn’t go past Vegeta killing Dodoria until the Funimation dub. I played this game back in 1997-1998.
Yeah i remember thise days they only showed the ocean dub up to half the namekian saga and repeated it a few times until the Funimation stuff kicked in

Before I was exposed to the Funimation Majin Buu arc, I legit thought that Buu was some demon monkey after seeing the gameplay from Dragon Ball GT: Final Bout...seeing how Buu hoots and hollers like a deranged simian. After finally watching the arc come to a close, it only halfway made sense since Kid Buu was just primal compared to Mr. Buu.

GT hasn’t been dubbed at that time because Funimation started dubbing Dragon Ball Z in 1997, the same year the game came out
I only wish that Brianne Sidall got better material. This game doesn’t do her Kid Goku justice (it sounds a bit annoying actually). She would nail it under better direction in a actual dub of the anime.

Piccolo voice actor is really good. I've heard him in many games and shows. He did Liu Bei in the best Dynasty Warriors games.

Goku as Steve Blum, almost sounds like a bad Sonic imitation, like closer to Ryan Drummond. Steve Blum usually has that one voice he does (probably because everyone that hires him, just wants that one voice from him) so it's strange hearing him make a different voice for Goku. Unless it's the way voices were mixed on the PS1.

Trust me, I'm aware of the cast in this game. Goku's voice actor (Steve Blum) is a very well known voice actor because of how distinct his dark-toned evil sounding voice is. Rarely do you see any of today's elite voice actors in old games like this.. it's usually some random person who does radio commercials and that's it, because voice acting in video games wasn't exactly a mainstream thing yet (See Resident Evil)
I was floored by Steve Blum as Goku. He's one of my VA heroes and I couldn't recognize him, since he decided to go with Sonic the Hedgehog with a head cold when he did Goku here. Cell's voice is pretty darn close to Ocean Group and FUNimation, for that matter

Steve Blum voiced Ken in Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie. Skip Stellrecht voiced Ryu in Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie and Street Fighter Alpha: The Movie. Both voiced Goku and Trunks/Future Trunks respectively.
