This post paid billing should be stop or it will ruin our life. In other states the publics are so strong... They are going and shutting down the power departments. Wat are we nagas doing. Who knows because prepaid is not accepted in many colonies in dmr, it's veryyyyyy expensive especially for dmr more than seven months in a day we are using fan, one fan is equal to Rs 550 per month so just calculate ur self😊
@@user-we1kp5uw9u Your calculation will be wrong. Say we use five 75 watt ceiling fan running for 24 hours. So 75 watts multiply by 24 hours gives 1800 watts. Divide it by 1000 for Kwh, it gives 1.8kwh.
Approx (I don't know the exact rate per unit) It could be Rs. 6.5/- per unit. So 1.8kwh multiply by Rs. 6.5 gives Rs.11.7/- per fan used for 24 hours which is one day. So, Rs. 11.7 x 5 fans x 30 days = 1755/-
So if you have 5 fans of 75 watts used continuously for 24 hours for 30 days you pay = 1755/-
This amount is what you use is what you have to pay. (Mind you the fans are being used continuously non stop for 24 hours straight upto one month.)
So staying in Dimapur doesn't mean you have to pay less for energy use. That thought is not right.

Piwer department is One of the worst department in Nagaland. Despite paying bills regularly, all we get is loadshedding and unwarranted power cuts almost everyday. Some people in the comments section are suggesting for pre-paid but thats very illogical again. A panshop using just 1 cfl bulb, one table fan and 1 fridge is recharging for ₹1000-1500 per month. A rice hotel which used to pay ₹3000 now pays ₹5000. Some residents in dmp where pre-paid meters are installed are paying upto ₹5000 a month while they paid below ₹3000 during postpaid days. Wtf are u guys suggesting? Poor people shouldn't use power? C'on... B logical.
The department can strictly adhere to power cutting for defaulters but they aren't doing that. Moreover, internal corruption is killing electricity in Nagaland. Where r these deficits coming from??? Is it because of the public? No!!! Manipulation of revenues under the whims of some politicians and high level officers is one of the major reason. Transparency is made something foreign to the public and even the public doesn't care whats happening within the system.

From my point of view Pre paid system is not illogical. Infact it is fair. People paying less or very less when using post paid may have their meters rigged or that the calculations are inaccurate. The old meters can be rigged and we pay some amount to lineman/department personell to get it done which is wrong and illegal. Other thing is some pay minimum throughout their lives, that is because their meter is not working or not recorded and at one point of time they or someone will have to bear the bill.
When it comes to prepaid, it is exactly what we use and pay the exact amount according to our usage depending on the rate the department has set unless maybe for some the prepaid meter box is defective which I as a prepaid user have not encountered any.
Many of the post paid meter boxes don't get their metering recorded by meter readers and it just keeps on piling up. We waste a lot of time and even days to correct the post paid bills waiting for JE, SDO and other staffs. The trouble of going to office to get corrected every month or every now and then is not there in the prepaid meter.
CFL bulbs consume more energy than LED bulbs and fridges have to run 24/7. Pan shops and hotels will have running appliances whole day and some kept on all the time. If there is an excessive bill then wiring may also be the problem and needs to be rectified or changed. Homes and shops in Dimapur will be using more power than Kohima Or other districts because of the use of fans and ACs whole day, and that will certainly be increasing the bills. Even in my home in Kohima, if I turn on the geysers and electrical appliances, the deductions on the recharged amount drastically gets eaten up. It is what we use, we pay for it.
Yes, the department must be corrupt, in fact all government departments are corrupt to the core. More transparency and accountability is needed with regard to inflow and outflow of money in the department. Leaving aside that and the technical defects, prepaid system is the better option for all and this is just my opinion.

Govt knows very well why there is a huge lost in power department. In some Village in chumu dist. they pay only Rs. 300 for unlimited power consumption. Whereas here in Dimapur one led bulb bill comes to Rs. 300 this is a hard reality.
How comes power department deficit balance? While i was rented at previous house i and students one metre box was billed charged 14865 of two months and after we paid Rs.12682 came again as one month bill so i was shocked to see so my neighbour and me went to bill centre but they said as per the meter reading the bill is coming but how comes without Ac, refrigerator nothing only fans and lights . There should be more transparency because there is hide and see going on under department.
Power department are making Bill's for looting innocent people. Many innocent people are suffering due to huge monthly bill . Naga people hv to rise against such corruption.
