  • New from Junxing Archery. The Pharos is a CNC machined recurve hunting bow with International Fitting Limbs which clip into the riser.
    You can shoot off the shelf or using an arrow rest.
    We compare the Junxing Pharos to other IFL hunting recuves

    Hi, Steven. Although it's four years old, this is another of your MANY terrific reviews. And, clearly, the Pharos II is an excellent hunting recurve, which is where my own interest lies. I hope that you've done well with it in the time since this session .
    I can't help but suggest that you do an updated review, this time comparing the Pharos to the Tbow ILF hunting recurve that you reviewed so favorably some five years ago. It would be even better if you include the new Sanlida Hermit X10 (with foam/carbon limbs!), which falls into the same $300-$400 US range. In any event, thanks-as always-for sharing your experience and expertise with us. Best, Chris (Maine USA)

    I bought a, I think, F177 with the hairy arrow rest and UV light aiming 5pin circle.
    After several shots I took everything off and installed a reasonably cheap plunger with magnetic arrow rest.
    Now I am happy and hit the bull's eye. Anyone interested in buying the quite heavy aiming set? I think it's for starters and other types of shooting. Anyway, buy the 'clean' bow and add a few gadgets, hairy rests, a simple aiming device (7,50) or a plunger set like mine and for under 75dollar you have a top bow. Honestly!!!
    p.s. I started with 50lbs limbs and when my shoulder was healed I shot the rest with 35lbs. LOVE them!! 50lbs for sale to. (Mint condition). same as aiming device.
    Happy Shooting Everyone!

      @gigilaco Před 4 lety +8

      Junxing and EK have some amazing Olympic recurves that are priced well. Junxing has higher quality products in my opinion though. They are inexpensive but not cheap if that makes sense. I’d email them on alibaba and ask for a catalogue of all their products! I have the M127 and F261 (the one in the video) and they’re just as good, if not better, than the big brands. I will no longer buy overpriced archery products after switching over...I feel like I’ve been scammed for years. $1000 for a new fucking bow, Hoyt? Are you serious??

    Hello, I'm a total newbie to archery, can you shoot target Olympic with the pharos 2?

  • @Buran01
    @Buran01 Před 5 lety +2

    I have the TBOW at 55 pound limbs, which is a clone from the 19" Hoyt Satori. It comes with the stringer and string silencers, plus a plastic set of arrow rest spacers, a set of allen keys and some fur patches to the shelf and limbs (unneeded). The box has lower quality, but cost me 193 €, free shipping. The riser weights 1080 grams and the grip (which looks exactly as this Pharos 2) is synthetic. I only use it to train draw weight: feels really solid; the total weight with limbs is 1550 grams and the lenght 57" (145,5 cm). Pass 28" draw lenght stacks really heavy but so far seems a very fast bow (its IBO speed is rated at 210 fps). Seems like a good starting bow, for both instinctive training and hunting. Is a little top heavy for barebow, there's better options for that market albeit they are more expensive. The main appealing of this Junxing Pharos II orver the TBOW is that isn't a copycat of other brands but a genuine new design, albeit I do like more the looks of the TBOW, copy or not. My only rant about this kind of bows is how hard is to get ILF limbs above 60 pounds; the whole market is slanted towards sanctioned competitions and even top brands as Win & Win, Uukha and Hoyt lack limbs above that poundage.

    • @mrnice752
      @mrnice752 Před 5 lety +4

      Most Hoyt and W&W limb draw weights are measured on full 25" risers. The weight on the fingers with a 19" riser would be far higher than the written weight. A 40lb WNS Premium would probably be more like 50lb on a 19" hunting riser.

  • @Umslopogas666
    @Umslopogas666 Před 5 lety +4

    Dear Steven (and fellow viewers),
    after watching this video (which is excellent btw) I have a quick technique question (coming from a newbie - so bear with me please) for you: I noticed that you anchor much lower when you shoot your Olympic recurve as compared to this traditional bow. I figure it's due to the different set ups, of eg shooting of the shelve vs rest, without vs with sight etc. I just wondered if sticking with the same anchor point is impossible because of these differences and respectively if it wasn't, whether sticking with the same anchor wouldn't ultimately result in more reliable hits?
    As I said I'm fairly new to archery so sorry if it's a stupid question...
    Greetings from Germany!

    • @jamesholley1189
      @jamesholley1189 Před 5 lety

      If I had to venture a guess, I would think that it is because of the size of the Risers line of sight window. Traditional Bow Risers are usually smaller, than Olympic Style Risers. Of course, personal preference is also a factor, when anchoring the Bow String, and what works best for you!

    • @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale
      @ArcherySuppliesLonsdale  Před 5 lety +3

      For Bare Bow Recurve the archers normally change their anchor for each distance. It really does not affect much when it comes to shooting a good barebow shooter can normally shoot sights well too. I don't string walk I just draw and shoot without sights so I move my anchor up so I get a better view of the arrow.

I know that the black is a full carbon riser w/carbon coated maple core limbs so it is a bit different haha If anyone was curious i did contact the seller for limb details regarding the bow and the limbs are made of bamboo and fiberglass and the riser is aluminum i believe. I cant find too much info on this bow but from what I've seen and read, alot of people regard this company and it's bows highly. I bought this bow to start archery. It is very good. But I souldn't recommend you to buy a bow with the draw weight more than 30 lbs. You can get injuries while your muscles didn't adapt to the bow shooting. The bow shooting uses some muscles that are inactive in an ordinary daily activity.

    Remember "Bigrock Carbon 790"
    Last month I broke the fourth bottom Limb. My drawlength is 29 inches. Is that great?
    Junxing treats me as a swindler and refuses to respond.
    Say it again. Risers are very useful. And wouldn't the aluminum stick break?
    Don't test the texture of your skin with a carbon Limb. In my case, debris splashed into my eyes. Fortunately, I am wearing glasses, but the deep wound in the lens was serious.

    My Pharos 2 from Archery Supplies arrived in a tatty cardboard box with no foam. When I complained and queried it was in fact cheaper Junxing riser I was ignored. I was a great admirer of Steven Hand!

      But now it comes in more sizes other than 17". i noticed it has different ilf fittings also. I think it is pretty much identical to the f261, just with new sizes, and new components.
      I say good on them, junxing have great customer service, and really care about their products.

      Junxing is the real manufacturer. They are from china. Many company buy their bows and rebrand as their own. For example 'Mandarin duck phantom' and 'Black hunter' are actually junxing F179 and F171.
