@@punzer true, but the main problem right now is Valve's lack of attention to the problems. Personally, I think immortal draft has potential to be good, they just need to iron out some issues, not necessarily find entirely new solutions. And in theory, the more awareness there is to the issues Valve need to iron out, the more pressure they'll feel to actually do something, so the video does address that.
@@mdsmatheus but it's important to make this environment that the 3% play in to feel worth it to aim for to the rest of the playerbase. It's really not good for the game, competitively and otherwise, to lose it's best players because of such things.

Problem with immortal drafts affects all players. I dont really know why author havent explianed it, but basicaly the problem is that actual good players just stop playing when reaching Immortal. Why? Because of all the clusterfuck. I got my Immortal 4 years ago, havent played a single game there(Except calibration) on purpose. Just drop my acc and go on smurf, since I dont want to experience that shit.

The game is literally depressing right now! I mean in what mind did valve made the immortal draft to allow a 5k guy get matched with 8k players!! Wintraders, one hero spammers, acc buyers in literally every second game!!! On top of that the meta sooo ass!! I miss the days when I actually used to have fun playing the game 😢...
Once I got to Immortal I had to quit playing ranked because the games got absolutely horrible. Every single game somebody smurfs, griefs, afk, dc, scripts you name it

Immortal player here. Adding double down to immortal rank queue where party players can end up on opposite teams was a grave mistake. And you cannot know that you have a rat in the team or just an accbuyer until the game ends so you wouldn’t at least rely on them. You cannot kick the player even if you know that he is a rat.
Also natures prophet flying to enemy base and dying before the game starts so the game counts is just absurd. People can easily win trade 60+ mmr in 2 minutes which makes reaching immortal draft actually harmful to player experience.
And this whole thing just makes you feel depressed because you have no control over situation whatsoever. Deranking so you get out of immortal draft is also shit because you become smurf and ruin experience for other players

People don’t seem to understand that players, especially pro players will complain no matter what. Dota players are the worst kind of players out there, and high rank players are the worst among them. Sometimes I think Valve got tired of their constant bitching and decided to screw with them on purpose xD

@@Nikita40000 I also think part of the problem is their Free to Play model, but for a different reason. For me the problem has always been the community. Dota community is very passionate, and it causes most of the toxicity.
Valve for sure could be doing a much better job, but if you think about it, every time Valve comes up with a fix, the community finds a way to abuse it. And there is no accountability because any player can just buy a new account. Maybe if the game was $10 then there’d be fewer smurfs, accbuyers and cheaters, but Valve’s business model for Dota doesn’t allow it I guess

So unless everyone playing before the change gets a free copy, loss of players will be greater than loss of abusers, so it will feel worse. And if everyone does get a free copy, it's a payday for account farms.
So I don't think just adding a box price will change things for the better. Hardware bans and other ways of punishing people changing accounts can help, however. Problem there is minimizing false positives.

Icefrog doesnt care at all, he will just update the matchmaking system in a way that makes it worse and just say that they did change it and worked on it so their job is done. Icefrog has been doing such a lazy and poor job on this game in the last years which is ridicolous that he is still employed.

I quit last month because I keep getting the worst possible teams, 1 game out of 36 matches was without someone griefing/trolling. As a support with little impact to actually winning when game gets past 30 min, it was too much for me.
Same here, I've stopped playing ranked and playing turbo now. Just for the sake of the Crownfall candy
I don't like turbo for the reason couriers are uncontrollable and only moves when havin any amount of items in backpack and trasferrin move to owner of that courier, the trollin of using this courier begins when some player disconnects, the other player starts buying the cheapest items from vendors filling the courier backpack and start doing the infinite loop of goin and going back to base to repeat the same process tranfering again and again
I stopped it because of cheating i even reported match id also here on yt there are some matches you would find at Gingo and others but the main issue i had was the drafts and the matchmaking algorithm for example when my communication score was at peak i am able to win atleast 3 games out of five and by winning i mean i am able to win the game in addition to having good team coordination and good teammates but at some point i lost my behavior score and comunication score and not once actually many times over the last year so what i concluded was that with low score i wasn't even able to play a normal match in my legend bracket at that time which translates to that i was loosing 4 out of 5 daily games! Now i am crusader and i stoped playing it i got comunicayion svore 10 on both ends with behavior!

They need to change match making rating to something individual, not just solely based on if your team wins or not.
the last one where people dc and then it's safe to leave made me stop playing for 1 month or so, i was playing against some cocky ember and his friends they were winning for about 40 mins we won one fight went straight for throne he bb died again and noone else had bb and they use this shit made me rage so hard scummy piece of shit and i couldn't even report him the game was nowhere to be found/

Rampant toxic behavior, exacerbated by pro players, Quinn cried about the new behavior system which was working perfectly in punishing toxics and it got reverted.
Unprofessional/uncompetitive double down tokens in dota2. At the start of a match in dota2, you can bet on your team to win using a double down token, if you win then you get double mmr, if you lose then you lose double mmr. How is this even a thing in a "competitive" game?

Even if only affect 3% of Dota players, I think in fact it affect to every ranked player, cuz our goal is get inmortal rank, if not there is unranked for the ppl don't care, so at the end of the day, even if we never gonna get inmortal rank, it affect us indirectly cuz is our goal, right?
So Valve should do sth, I think the best is just made balanced teams in terms of MMR without doing this wired stuff, practically like before, or sth similar.

same, played it since early days of dota allstars, over 8k games on dota 2 alone and probably more in wc3, I have not played once in the last two years, not even installed atm, only still watching some content creators and the internationals sometimes and that is it, I miss it but it had already changed too much for me years ago, like they fucked up big time most my prefered heros and the general pace of the game.
Thats why i love pokemon unite now, it's chaotic and since i'm top tier player i have a winrate above 70% most of the seasons xD
they recently implemented draft but its not soooooo bad, i still preferred the chaos of all pick mirror matches and fuck it, you try to balance so much you end up with this dota crap

So a couple of things. I am an immortal player but retired. These days has been a disaster for me to play with my friends and people tell me to not throw games or lose games on purpose to derank. It would only cause me to be a "Smurf" to the lower ranks and get my account banned. I don't know if that's true. Anyways let's just say when valve resetted all the ranks I was divine 1. I won 9 games and lost 11 and guess what my rank was. Top 1500. Everything Blitz said was undoubtedly correct. I was lead to believe that being in high ranks means you're good and that was my aim ever since I was herald 1. I only played heros I enjoy and avoid the meta every game. But now I am stuck in immortal and I can't get out of it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to everyone but if you are planning to be an immortal player just forget it. It's not a good idea and I am a prime example

@@nado1908 Unranked is just as bad, if one person, for example @gustlizer7993, is high immortal and his friends are average legend players, you can still get placed into completely uneven matches with the entire enemy team being all immortal sweatlords. Meaning it makes the game unplayable as your friends are completely outmatched and you having to play so sweaty as to even have the slightest chance of winning.

I think every gap has its cons. I am a forever crusader and my games are intense cuz there are usually smurfs and people who just dont lnow the objectives. Cores never joining fights/pushes etc.

Valve is restricting liberty of players with new systems to avoid negative gameplay, but the community wants other things (smurfing, cheating, etc)… so they try to apply new rules to stop it, like immortal draft... but they can't and they won't be able to.
so the lesson is this: You can't stop people from doing what they want to do. They will find the way, and meanwhile, adding new stuff to prevent this, you (valve) will be destroying your own game adding things nobody wants and nobody asked for.
the game is doomed itself, the only way to fix it is to add new players to the community, and it looks like it's not going to happen.

Party queueing as someone who participates in Immortal Drafts is definitely a problem and a big overlook... Bugs, needless to say, are also inexcusable. HOWEVER
The claim that the glicko system + Immortal Draft is a problem is a complete misjudgement
Here's why:
When you don't have glicko you get MMR inflation. A lot of the Immortals that are rank top 50 vs Immortal 1000's that you claim to be the difference between a crusader and a divine player, is JUST NOT TRUE.
These top ranked players that achieved huge mmr numbers have done so before the Glicko system.
If you pick 3 crusaders in your team and you face off 3 divines (which is the claim that is the problem with Glicko + Immortal Draft) the winrate of the divines would probably be like 98% or something they have to fall asleep to lose the game and thus it would be mega fair that losing in the crusader's team would lose you like 2 mmr but winning will net you 100 (reflection of the win probabilities).
HOWEVER TURNS OUT THAT'S NOT THE CASE RIGHT:D The 'crusaders' end up winning more often than expected in these immortal games.
So why?
Well ask yourselves, is this a problem of The Immortal Draft concept + The Glicko System which is rigorously used and tested in other competitive games, or is it a problem of the MMR of these pros NOT reflecting the reality of how good they actually are compared to the 'handicapped rank 1000 immortals'
Something to think about
A few of the biggest problems that I see with the ranking system, besides the matches being rigged by valve:
1. The usage of the glicko system is a joke and it probably was implemented because people were either lazy or unable to come up with a system. There is no fucking way in hell that a system made to rank CHESS PLAYERS, A 1v1 GAME BETWEEN INTELLIGENT PEOPLE, would work in an online game, which is played 5v5, and don't even get me started on the intelligence levels.
2. The confidence system is implemented backwards. If you/re on a winning or losing streak, the confidence should either stay the same or decrease, but not fucking increase. It should only start increasing when your win rate stabilizes.
3. There are a lot of 3rd parties which can accurately tell the performance of each player, measure who carried, who ruined and so on. If they can do this, why the fuck can't valve do it? I'm fucking tired of the old 'stomp the lane, lose the game'. Wtf am I supposed to do if the other 2 lanes already fed 10 or more kills each? I'm not going to play with those animals.
People who perform well should get punished less because their team sucked. People who perform below average while winning should get less mmr than their teammates.

@@alexm.3968 Yeah, usually all heralds say matchmaking is rigged? another thing heralds say is "I'm fucking tired of the old 'stomp the lane, lose the game", there is way more to the game than laning and i get the sentiment of games being unwinnable because of the team but phrasing it was win lane lose game sort of just makes it seem like you dont understand the game. Theres things like strong laners, bad matchups, ect. The best players lose lane all the time its only a small part of winning a game.
An obvious issue with performance based mmr gain is that supports will get completely screwed, and certain heros that dont preform well in the metrics that are being judged will be awful. It would also encourage people playing for their kda and way more selfishly to look better to the stat system. For example, people might hold key buybacks and just lose the game so that they end the game with a higher net worth. There are a host of issues with the system you suggest, it really isnt that simple.

i just hit immortal recently and have not yet played immortal draft, but i have watched mason and lil nick etc play it and oh my god it looks absolutely horrendous. my games are already bad but this is like actually terrible. they need to fix matchmaking

Not enough players even in Archon or Legend rank which is MEDIAN, I don't even wanna talk about Immortal rank which is EXTREME. Okay, we have an Immortal rank 1000 matched with an Immortal rank 100, and people cry rivers about it, BUT, the big BUT, what if they limit the MMR range to just about people ranked close to 100, I think players in that rank would rarely be able to play due to the lack of 10 players within that range, how to fix that? I don't know.
Maybe it is the time to stop adjusting the system? Do the global reset and don’t try to balance it. You lose - you lose, you won - you won. Always + or - 25, doesn’t matter what. And the rank will balance it self just naturally.

MMR has lost its meaning after they introduced party queue. The number of boosted players is unreal, and since we don't have any global recalibration, the MMR/skill gap is insanely high.
What do you even want, this is the best compromise, between quality ideal games vs queue time. The number of high rank vs low rank immortal players is so vast, atleast they have power in choosing the players. Its not like the devs are not trying bro
I'm 8k mmr player and for the last half year I played around 100 ranked matches on Europe region.
Most of the problems are not as common as they may be seen. For all my games, I never encountered any form of game crashing. Only once I saw party players being picked on different sides, and they just complained about it, but played fair. Mmr difference on lower ranks are not that bad, in most of my games players were within 1000 mmr range relative to each other. And let's be real, the difference between 14k mmr and 11k mmr is not the same as between 5k and 2k.
Immortal was introduced to improve search time for high mmr games, since there are great imbalance in terms of roles. Players even started played non-role-based matchmaking just to improve search time. And for the same reason, dodge list is not working there.
I mean, the problems exists and should be fixed, but I don't think removing immortal draft or banning party queue will fix them all. I think the problem in barely working report system, when obvious griefer not banned even after few ruined games in a row.

The MMR drafting reminded me of moneyball for some reason but instead of trying to make a better team on paper you make a worst team to to deinflate your value to maximize your winnings and minimize losses.
The lower the rank, the more fun i have in games. I played few times in herald braket from smurf acc and now i'm on the way to drop my mmr, because people on 0-1000 mmr are the most fun to play WITH and AGAINST.
That's why I only play turbo for fun everyday cuz immortal ranked is a circus worse than herald games

Current system encourages grind, supporting high player counts. Seasonal ranking would make people value mmr less and play less, especially towards the end of the season. Valve wants online to be as high as possible, so there's that
Also it doesn't reflect skill as much as permanent rank, because it would be more prone to fluctuations due to your signature hero coming on and off meta and just general winstreaks/losestreaks.
Of course, the second point works only if the ranking is fair and there are no abusers, which is false, but nonetheless valve could think that way.

i was archon 1 month ago then i started playing meta heroes and got to ancient 4 i thought the matches now will make sense but damn i was wrong i never witnessed more arrogant and toxic matches in this 4.5k bracket
I didnt know about this bug 6:40. I was doing a comeback and it was minute 40, suddenly enemy carry diesback (because tilted) then suddenly dcs with his teammate, it made the game become safe to leave.

then it eventually affects the immortals because they have crusaders in their games and whole community is concerned
I sympathize with the players undergoing these issues. However, this situation is like what most people say.
Gamers are good at pointing out problems but are bad at solving them.
I think Valve would want to solve the issue as well if they know the answer or solution for this issue.
I’ve had people solo queue but they on the same discord and if they end up on different teams, one guy will just throw the game intentionally so the other can win.
Once double down available for purchase lots of players abusing it to gain mmr simply putting their smuft account friend an enemy side and just double down. Smurf friend have 1 job which is making his/her team to lose. Its unplayable when your team just actively wintrading.
Valve isn’t oblivious to whats happening, they just dont care, you can look at TF2 with much of the same concerns. Valve doesnt care about their games.
If you still play dota, just don't play ranked, much more fun, much less stress, if you win it still feels good, when you lose it doesn't feel as bad, just better than ranked abomination.

The comparison crusaders in divine lobby vs rank 1k in top 100 lobby is not accurate. Even if there is 4k mmr difference in top 1k lobby it is still between similar skill percentile compared to archons that are lower than average vs divine 5 that is like top 7-10% of player base.

What i see is you want faster queues. So you need more people in immortal but you can't. Most of them are in middle bracket. So what to do here? I only see patience issues.
i don't think it gets much worse in high immortal. you have a chance to be in a match with an actual pro player and this is very exciting sometimes.
Immortal draft is fine, valve just has to separate party queue from solo queue again to avoid these win tradings, split up parties etc.

well, 1k vs 5k and rank 1000 vs 100 it is just a completely different story in terms of skill. that bell graph also can be applied to show that the difference is only in a small details 90% of skill is the same. And how u can put a few people in a range from 7k to 12k?? of course they will play together. But I wish valve would hide the rank tbh. Let the system work, but hide ranks and numbers. Most of the people are not prepared mentally for this. For them its like a casino, they click play even after 10 loose streak with the hope of getting at least one +25 and thats it.

Reset MMR for good for everyone, completely remove immortal draft and add ranked role q with filling roles, something similar to what LoL is having (for example you que preffered roles 3 and 2 and you get them but every couple of games you have to play pos 4 because they didn’t find any 4s queueing),
+ban all smurf accounts (not just pro smurfs accounts) = system will be fixed mostly and games would be normal in high mmr dota
In addition, add systems to find and ban cheats like overplus (do not let dota be runnable with other programs, just few, spotify, etc - for example in dota1, which was a map in warcraft 3 frozen throne, if you’d use maphack which was quite popular, after a while your game would crash and nothing would fix it, not even if you turn the hack off, and restart, you had to reinstall the windows)

Top players: we dont like ranked games as the teams become unfair with one having all rhe high ranks and the other having the low ranks
Valve: okay how about you draft, that way each captains attempts to pick the best players ultimately leading to a somewhat even game

Instead of complaining about how the immortal draft is absolute mess, why don't you offer an alternative that solves all or most of the problems players face when queueing high ranked games?
The problem is the low mmr is the smurf so in other words they are the pro in disguise
the coordinated disconnection have a long time in dota.
im 7k mmr in EU and once u get into immortal draft, everything goes to shit. The games are shit, many people are shit. Lots of ppl that throw games because they are party and get picked in diferent teams. Or just to mmr boost with double tokens. I quit playing rank, and i just play pubs either solo or with some friends. Not worth grinding anymore even though i love the game
