- Bill Walton joined Larry Bird in 1985 before their historic '86 run for an exhibition where Larry Bird had the Boston Garden rocking. Walton mockingly wondered if the crowd was chanting "Jerry" before feeling the full intensity of Larry's personality, which he saw numerous times in practice. Walton called Bird his best teammate ever, though maintains a different player was the greatest he ever saw.

Bill Walton is a national treasure.
Love listening to Walton and his stories! He has such a passion for the game...
1986 Celtics - greatest team of all time 🏀 ; 5 HoF players; funny stories 😆
One player that became the best player ever and was hurt most of life and somehow he still manage to become a champion I may self miss his talent for years he not only became a champion once but twice Bill Walton
I remember watching that 24-0 run they had. On the floor was Walton, Chief, Bird, Mchale, and DJ. It was the most hilarious thing I've ever seen in sports! You will never see a combo like that again, ever!
86 team was the best. Great bunch of guys. You would think that they would do everything by the book and be stiff and conservative. Just the opposite. Those were the days.
Great stories.
Great funny and REAL!

Thank you all very much. I lived through that period.
"Empty the thesaurus big man!" I seem to remember Walton dunking as a fast break trailer against Milwaukee.
Yeah, the one that I always see in the highlights is him getting a rebound or loose ball, passing it to one of the guards, trailing the break he gets fed at the free throw line and dunks it, and throws his arm up in the air.
2:18 i just gained even more respect for Ray Melchiorre.
I asked Earl "Yogi" Strom NBA legendary official one day who in his opinion was the best player he ever worked? Without hesitation he said Bill Walton.
Dear 7 people who thumbs-downed, have you read any good books lately?
