The opening credits scene was around 5 minutes long and you got this full piece from John Williams before the movie even really started. You don’t see that anymore. He will go down as one the greatest composers of the second half of the 20th and early 21st century. A lot of the most popular classical pieces came from the entertainment arts like opera and ballet. Our entertainment art is film. John Williams is the Igor Stravinsky and W.A. Mozart of our time.

I was born in the 60’s & never really appreciated what a great piece of brilliant must until much later in my life as a musician. . @Persus you are correct, this is where Johns brilliance started. It’s like something awoke in Johns brilliant mind & he has been consistently producing masterpieces ever since. I don’t like to think about it for 1 second but it will be a profoundly terrible time when John departs this world. He’s pushing 90 & I think I will mourn him for years afterwards. It will be like having a death in the family but I know that John Williams work will be famous for hundreds of years onwards.

Oufff... this made me remember of Christopher Reeves/Superman flying with such a beautiful smile in his face. It kind of hurts but is nice to remember one of my childhood actors.
Edit: I just realized the amount of comments about Reeves. lol I'm so happy that this has the same effect to so many people. He would be touched to see that he's still remember today :-)

These movie were made during the best years of my life from the 70’s to the 80’s. Superman, JAWS, Star Trek, Star Wars, Close Encounters, Aliens, Predator, E.T., Spider man to name a few.... I am so grateful that I grew up during that time and have many wonderful memories to look back on and I frequently do so because of what has gone so wrong with our great Country.

When I saw Superman Returns on the big screen. I really had to fight back tears when I heard Williams' majestic theme opening the film. It took me back to my childhood...to 1978... to the tagline that you will believe a man can fly. The end titles to Star Wars Rogue One did the same thing to me when I saw it on the big screen. It took me back to 1977 the way no other Star Wars film did. There are certain passages in each theme that just hits me hard.

John Williams is a musical genius, and this orchestra was amazing! The first movie soundtrack I ever bought was the 2 disc album of Star Wars, when I was 16 or 17 (the movie's original run). Williams' music was so good, it made this rock 'n roll kid appreciate full orchestra scores.
