In a rare glimpse into the interior dealings of global military espionage, a snapshot has surfaced on social media, providing a unique view of a People’s Liberation Army Central Military Command Xian H-6N bomber. But it’s what clings to the underbelly of this aircraft that has set the world’s defense forums alight: what appears to be a YJ-21 air-launched ballistic missile.
The YJ-21 is a top-secret project, yet it’s already infamous for its rumored hypersonic prowess and deft maneuverability. It now emerges as a devastating threat for both land and sea targets across the globe.
Known in naval circles as one of the ‘carrier killers,’ this high-tech warhead throws a long shadow over the seascape of maritime power, posing a threat whose capabilities could eclipse the defensive prowess of even the most cutting-edge American warships.
With a cold reach of over 932 miles, the YJ-21 sends shivers down the spine, packing a mean punch as it zooms through the sky. American experts are on the edge, already fearing the projectile’s expected ability to slice through the toughest naval defenses and hit American aircraft carriers.
The birth of the YJ-21 is wrapped in whispers and mystery, rumored to be a wicked twist on the CM-401 ballistic missile. The word around the People’s Liberation Army Navy is it shares some DNA with the DF-21D anti-ship ballistic missile, yet taken to a new level as the YJ-21 hits the afterburners at harrowing hypersonic speeds, making it virtually unstoppable…

Small problem.....satellites do not have the power needed to overcome radar saturation from space. They simply lack the ability to transmit enough energy. There is a reason all new radars are multi band. Jamming a single one doesn't accomplish much except give away your position which is why almost all strategies now rely on keeping radars off until the last minute. The missile will never find the target if the satellites can jam US radars they would in turn jam the missile's radar and leave it flying blind.

There's two glaring problems with that. 1: you need to detect & lock tracking on that hypersonic early enough to respond, and 2: you need to concentrate laser energy consistently for long enough to do damage to a hypersonic that is intended to handle extreme temperatures (multiple seconds). Not easy with a missile traveling at nearly 3km per second. There's a high chance that by the time you'd managed heat it sufficiently, it would have already hit you. That's if you managed to detect it at all - US Patriot systems completely failed to detect recent Zircon missiles launched at targets near Kiev.

Something that the narrator who's clearly shilling for the YJ-21 hasn't mentioned is that not only does the lifting-body lose speed as it enters the lower, denser parts of the atmosphere it loses speed to drag and every time. It manoeuvres it loses speed, it also has to lose speed to manoeuvre more easily and the slower it is the easier it is to intercept.

more than likely, its boost to mach 10 with come only in its short term terminal phase, once it has locked on to a target and not longer need to pull evasive manouvers. Coming in at Mach 6 is plenty fast, especially if it can duck and weave about until it can lock on and scream in at Mach 10 during its terminal phase.
Here is something to consider. From a USAF study, a 20' long, 1" diametre tungsten rod weighting a little under 11,500 KGs (aka the Rod from God concept), would deliver an impact with the kinetic energy rated at 11.5 ton of TNT. The Chinese missile weighs only around 2500 KGs and is not made of solid tungsten, but it would still deliver a fairly massive impact and energy release even without an explosive warhead at Mach 10.

It won't be able to accelerate back to mach 10 as it's an unpowered glider also the faster a missile flies the less manoeuvrable it is. In addition to losing speed from performing evasive manoeuvres the missile has to slow down to maximise manoeuvrability. The kill vehicle will have to contend with both Standard Missile SAMs launched from the Missile Cruiser in the target CVBG along with the Carrier's fighters carrying long-range AAMs.

@@nicholasmaude6906 I don't think you understand how it expected to operate. As I understand it, it cruises in towards it target at Mach 6, and at that stage of its flight, it can try to evade incoming intercepters. Once it gets within range of its target and has lock on, it boost up to Mach 10 and dives in ballistically.
At around 8.3 metres or 21 feet in length, with a diametre of no more then 830 mm or 32.68 inches in order to fit into Chinese shipboard VLS's, it is a fairly small and extremely fast moving target which could be very difficult to intercept, especially if accompanied by radar jamming capable penitration aids.
Think a Wild Weasle system mounted on a missile designed to draw in and decoy incoming interceptors from the actual kill vehicles.
Plus interceptioon of one or two may well be doable, but a swarm of them coming in at multiple vectors could overwhelm your air defence system. And I doubt they would just launch one at a time.

Several thoughts >. 1). Don’t underestimate your enemy. Even though China hasn’t been in a war for decades it has been studying especially American war history and tactics for years. 2). China has been in a “grey war” with USA for decades and is winning. 3). China is on a military economy and has built its military industrial complex to rival that of America’s Industrial Complex during WW2, except its modern 4). We have little idea of how effective the Chinese weapon systems are going to be and to what hell they may cause. 5). America has many BLACK PROGRAMS that we don’t know about yet BUT WE DO KNOW that the republicans cannot be the only ones that build up the military after every democrat destroyed it during their administration and have any hope we stay on top
