Good guys are everywhere but you won't see them. Good girls are everywhere and they don't get seen either. I suspect that when we are young we keep looking in the wrong places so we don't find what is right for us very easily.
If you want a good guy, be a good girl. You mentioned The Lord will provide you a good guy. First, seek The Kingdom. Know Jesus and have a relationship with him and then find a guy who's doing the same, particularly one who loves Jesus more than you and will lead you TO Him and not away from him.

Here too. Her name was Kathrin and she was a reason for many sleepless nights. We always met to drive to school with our bikes, but i never had the courage to say what i was feeling for her. In the last week before the school ends and our life would be seperated probably forever, i nearly forced me to tell her, but i couldnt.
On the goodbye school party, i sorted her out, but was only able to tell her that i wish her the best for her life. I dont know if she ever had feelings for me, we were good friends back than, but i will never know. She lives on the other side of the world today.

Great story and who says nice guys finish last? Good things happen to good people most of the time after all. Ben had nothing to worry about, Travis wasn’t a good guy. I’ve heard stories about guys like him that are always looking to hook up and harass other girls after they told them they weren’t comfortable. Being in a relationship is not all about getting laid ya know, it’s about trust and good communication.
Yes, Travis was an obvious player/jerk. Like blatently obvious. So, the fact that she was genuinely interested in Travis calls into question her judgement/charachter in my mind. She's not the right girl for Ben.

@@no-one-1 She totally liked Travis. Otherwise she wouldn't have said yes to him. You don't go on dates with people you're not into. Or at least once Ben came forward she would have told him something like, "You're the guy I really wanted, but I didn't think you really wanted me..." And kicked Travis (the jerk) to the curb. Then her poor choice could be overlooked (as we all make mistakes) because when having a legit choice between a good man and the bad boy, she chose Ben. But as it was, she decided to stick with Chad, at least until he assaulted her.

I don't want to be a downder but I can't get over that Beth ever agreed to go with Travis to the dance in the first place. From the begginging he was OBVIUOSLY a jerk/player who had appearantly been repeatedly and rudely hitting on her. So, regardless of her eventually chosing Ben, I seriously question her judgement/charachter. Her willingness to legit choose a guy like Travis disqualifies her as the right kind of girl for Ben. To add, granted Ben wimped out by saying he was glad she was going with Travis, but once she knew Ben was interested in her, she could have broken it off with Travis and approached Ben if she legit thought he was the better guy/the one sher really liked. So, she obviously DID have a genuine intrest in Travis. And again, a girl who could be interested in a guy like Travis is not the kind of girl Ben needs. Two srikes equals three in this case. Sorry, but no. Run, Ben! Run!
it was for the sake of the runtime of the movie and for it to have a clear antagonist
@@no-one-1 The characters are still the characters as written and the plot is still the plot as written. You can't ignore that. She chose the bad boy because she legit liked him. She just eventually decided that she didn't want to move as fast as Travis did. Ben definitely does not need to be with someone who likes Chad. For the sake of the story, it would've been better if Travis was seen as a decent guy. Maybe even a very solid dude. Then it would make sense for her to say yes to him even if deep down she preferred Ben. It certainly wouldn't say anything bad about her character. Another possibility is that if we the audience saw that Travis was bad but Beth didn't realize it. That could have provided interesting tension.
Yes, you could say I'm overanalyzing this. However, this kind of writing feeds into a bad narrative. At the very least it cheapens the romance. It would be one thing if she thought she was choosing one of two good guys that simply happened to ask her first. But showing her as a girl who will go after the bad boy and even stick with him even when the better man steps forward and declares interest in her (at least until he assaults her) shows her to be a woman of questionable character. Or at least not the kind of girl for Ben if we want to be less harsh.
