- I was getting a warning when starting my car, usually when it was a cold start, telling me to check my engine coolant level. So I figured out how to do it, and I figured I would share it with all of you incase you are wondering the same thing. I only found a few videos on CZcams and most of them were far to long and confusing how how simple the process is. Enjoy, and don't forget to rate, comment, and subscribe if you enjoyed! More content to come on the C300, exciting parts coming for Christmas!
That fact that you ended the video with "peace" made me subscribe! Thanks for the "how to" as well.
Thanks! Helping this youngster out lol
Thanks, that was really helpful. I find Mercedes manuals are often vague about the details, like in this case, the cold fill level for the coolant.
Damn that motor has a nice sound...
Thank you for explaining everything in detail. Great job
Very simple instructions I will be doing this today. Thank yoy
So let me get this straight. You "fix the check engine coolant warning" by checking the engine coolant.
...and topping-off as needed.
Mind blown!
he showed us how to unscrew the cap too
Simple instructions and they really help. Thanks.
Bruh your supposed to mix it 50/50 distilled water. As told by mercedes tech bc that coolant is not premixed
You can but you dont have to
Yes, it needs to be mixed 50/50 distilled water.
@@stefan_jank it says on the back of container mix a 50/50 ratio
Thanks so much I needed this🙂
Thanks from Saudi Arabia 👋👋🌴🌴🌴🌴
Thank you for this video...appreciated.
i love this guys voice it sounds just like the comic book guy from the simpsons
Colin Bangs LMAO best comment yet
Aren’t you supposed to mix 50/50 antifreeze agrnt with distilled water??????
you can but you dont have to when you dont replace it completly. Because it will mix itself with the coolant witch is laready in the system
Thanks man!!
Thank you
Lol, i would top it up for you if you look like your profile picture :D
Hi mate how often do you find yourself topping off and is it normal for the pressure cap to easily un screw ? yours looked easy to un do like mine and wondered if that would hold the pressure well enough. Awesome car buddy, looks real nice.
Thank you...👍👍👍👍 very much i appreciate you
Thank you for this!!!!
thanks for the help what year is this i have the same one but 2014 i want to do something with mine but i don’t want to damage it
Is it normal for the temp meter to be 80 mark once we do this?
ty!
What muffler set up do you have on your car to make it sound that good ? I have a 2015 c300
Thanks
Thanks man
Nice start up do u have a straight pipe on it if u do what kind is it?
Now my car is overheating STILL. Keeps moving upward slowly but surely. Smh there’s no error message or no leak or anything after replacing my coolant... :(
Got the message, gl450, suv stopped, was only a little low, now cranks and will not start
Gracias amigo
You can’t open it after the car is started due to inaccurate reading ? The only risk isnit being extremely hot and blowing hot fluid on you. If its warm its not gonna damage the car or give an off reading,if anything opening it when its warm or the car idling will help burp air out of the cooling system. Educate yourself.
What a jerk
Anybody know what will happen if somebody filled it up past the end of the white line? (I might have added too much)
Hey man, my mechanic... Mixed the blue coolant I had in my c300 2008 with Zerex Valvoline G05 50/50. Is that okay to do or not?
Guys my cooland it's full but still shows me messege what shoud i do and why?
Same, did u ever fix the problem? My coolant level is filled but the message is still there
@@CarlosCastro-ts4gh did you end up finding why 😂? Mine is doing that too and i already changed the expansion tank (along with its level sensor) and its still giving the fault message
@@aliassi5447 Not sure why tbh. But I remember my mechanic replaced the tank and sensor and he had to clear the codes. After the codes were cleared, there wasn't any issues with the warning message. Hope this helps!
First of all, thank you very much for the video.
My S560 is giving me the "Check Coolant Level" for about a week but I hardly ever drive the car (on an average, just 2-3 KM a day). My yearly service is due after a couple of days. May I ask what do you suggest? Can I wait for another couple of days for the service technician to refill the coolant or you recommend I should do it myself right away? Your suggestion will be much appreciated. Thanks!
I'd say you're good to wait a couple days for your service appointment, especially if you only drive a few KM a day!
@@22lbsboost Thank you sir! 🙏🏻
just got the same massage easy fix thanks
Bro u need to let the fuel pump generate before you crank car very important it only takes 3 4 seconds to do so you can actually here it if u pay close attention ok 👍
First of all, this car is in a junkyard somewhere. Second of all...this isn't the old days, you don't need to prime the fuel pump anymore
I just wanted to know if the bar on top of your engine was manufactured or did you added afterwards
Aftermarket strut bar
Would this be the same for a 05 C240 ?
Does it matter which kind of coolant you buy? I bought one that says it’s for European cars from auto-zone...... is it bad for my car?
Karla Mancia yes do not use that. Do not use any engine coolant other than Mercedes-Benz.
If the specification on the bottle says what it is written on your Manual (and Mercedes is using MB 325.0, 325.1, 325.2), you can use that.
Just buy it from mercedes it cost only $20-30 for a whole jug to play it safe
Karla you can buy any brand coolant that meets MB spec number for your car’s engine & year to be specific. All those are mentioned on the back of the jugs. Also the MB coolant that you buy from the dealer is concentrate, you have to add distilled water to it. Don’t just pour it straight as the 325 coolant shown in this video. Coolant itself has no heat absorption qualities in it, the water portion in it cools the engine while the coolant part keeps everything free from corrosion or freezing!
Check coolant & low coolant messages are the same things, they just differ from car to car. The W204 C Class shown displays check coolant while some other Benzs show Low coolant!
Please have your cooling system “pressure tested” for leaks if you face that issue as Mercedes Benz cars are very finicky!
You have to mix that stuff? I got the pink kind for 2015 C300 and the tech said to mix it with 50% water.
Meiyi Zhao hmm...mine wasn't pink! So I'm not sure.
Did you do 50:50 distilled water:coolant?
The warning keeps coming up but I already topped it off
you must have a leak take it to a garage
My car coolin is green and I got a 2013 c300
Not in some cases all cases. There is a leak antifreeze in any car is under pressure whenever you have to add antifreeze that pressure has to go somewhere the liquid escapes from the system. Antifreeze does not evaporate like water. Any good mechanic would agree. Like your brake system on your car anytime you have to add brake fluid to your brake system you have a leak it could be at the brake master cylinder or it could be at the wheel cylinders or it could be at the calipers. Have a good day.
steven petty well we can agree to disagree :) Everyone seems to be a mechanic on CZcams. A simple google search on these cars will disagree with you.
Proof:
www.aa1car.com/library/us50230.htm
“Most vehicles will lose a little coolant over time due to evaporation from the reservoir. But a significant loss of coolant in a relatively short period of time usually signals a leak, a radiator cap that is not holding pressure or a cooling system that is running too hot.”
There was a very insignificant loss in coolant.
Where did you buy it??? Can I use it for a 2016???
He bought it at the dealership.
Can I check the level in the evening?
As long as the engine is completely cold
@@22lbsboost You should have said that instead of all the silliness.
@@erepsekahs then go find another video this was years ago
@@22lbsboost 😉😉
what type of rims? or is it stock with plastic dip?
Caro Babaknia stock with plasti-dip, I have aftermarket ones to put on after the winter!
nice video adding coolant but if you're having to add coolant you have a leak. you should never have to add coolant to your car.
steven petty this is true in some cases, not all. Mercedes are very finicky, I have no external leaks and I would imagine no internal leaks considering I have only gotten this message once, it also says “check engine coolant” not “low engine coolant”. This is a pretty common issue with this car, and usually it doesn’t involve leaks. Many people have gotten this warning and taken it to Mercedes technicians, who told them there were no leaks. If I get the warning again I will get it professionally checked. Thanks for the kind words!
Victor Manuel
Jesus Christ! Don't start the engine like this guy EVER! You should let the contact on (last position 5seconds ) for a pre-lubrication of your engine, and allow 2-3 minutes in the cold periods of time for the cooling temp to increase 65-70 Celsius, before start your trip!
One more thing, in Europe OEM Merdeces Benz Coolant is mixed with water (1:1 ratio, for example 250 ml of water + 250 ml of coolant).
Andrei Matei LOL. The car was obviously warmed up before driving. You don't need to prime the engine after topping off engine coolant, not necessary. You definitely don't need to prime it like a truck during cool temperatures, this is not a diesel or a truck. Not to mention it never gets THAT cold in this part of the country to warm the battery.
Hey bro im from providence wondering if you can check mine out
You didn't "FIX" shit you added coolant........
is this shit for real ?
