  • This is my 6 week update video on the four sealants I applied to the hood of this Nissan. Sonax, Lone Star, Xpel, GlassParency, all have similar yet very different results after 6 weeks on this car and a trip out of the country. Check out the video for more info.

    Very interesting results from the beginning to the end with all the different products you used including the soaps.

    I have a video idea that no one else has covered yet but it will require some testing methods I don't know how you do.. Gummi phlege. Designed to restore protect door rubber seals, it's not a dressing it actually soaks into rubber and helps keep it supple. I have a few different ones from liquid to waxy lipstick.

    I'm actually most excited about that Sonax Ceramic Shampoo! I just got the NV Car Care Trifecta (Lustre/Jet/Boost) and I am going to do a full detail on my car including decon, polish, etc the whole nine yards. That shampoo would make a great maintenance wash option for bucket washes from time to time. Have you tried the Griot's Ceramic Wash and Coat? I have that one and it is very similar to the Sonax Ceramic Shampoo you showcased here. VERY hydrophobic. Minimal suds but works fantastic as a maintenance wash on either coated cars or cars with Si02 sealants on them that are lightly soiled.

      I haven’t tried the Griots because I heard it’s super streaky. What do u think?

      @@DetailingBreakdown I didn't notice any streaking and I just used it the other day. I did dry it with a drying towel and blow dry out all the crevices and wheels with a dryer. And I don't have any type of water softener or conditioner system and I have really hard water here in Louisville. I think you'd get similar results to the Sonax you have so maybe try the Griot's after your Sonax is gone. I think it would be very similar. I thought the water beading was fantastic. I am going to buy a bottle of that Sonax Ceramic Shampoo next time Autogeek or one of the other on-line retailers has a sale. I really enjoy using Sonax products and have quite a few of them including their new spray and rinse ceramic coating which I really like and spray and seal coating too. When I first got into serious detailing, I got quite a few Sonax products directly from Germany when my wife worked over there quite a bit. I've always loved their stuff. Thanks for showcasing it.

      @@DetailingBreakdown I will add one more thing Ben, I did use Griot's Ceramic Speed Shine as my drying aide so that may have helped with the streaking?? Not sure but that is how I did it and it looked fantastic. But you will definitely notice a strong hydrophobic effect with just the Ceramic Wash and Coat but the one-two punch with this system is the wash and coat and then the Ceramic speed shine. I just did it again and out of curiosity and it looked great to me.

    I have used Sonax for many different purposes for my cars here in Finland and have been satisfied for the results. It's something like "you can't go wrong" with it. Nice video once again! Have you lost some weight? :)

    That sonax shampoo is really impressive... what is your thoughts on how it cleans? Obviously use it after a good foam bath but did it clean up that last 10 percent of the road film? I can understand it not getting that tar...

      That’s crazy right? But u have to remember there is no buffer in between the paint and whatever dirt is on there. Where as. The protected areas may be dirtier but there is a buffer of protection in between the dirt n paint

      @dustin3700 Před rokem +1

      @@DetailingBreakdownDefinitely correct but it goes to show you why water beading it a cool visual but is terrible for keeping your vehicle clean and sheeting products work better in some ways but if it's anything besides a heavy rain or your flooding the panel to dry the vehicle its not vary helpful. It's interesting that usually the less slick the product after curing the better it seems to be at sheding water, because look at plants and vegetation they don't get all soggy in the rain because some have basically tiny hairs like a new microfiber towel and literally push the water off until you disturb the surface.
