I can kind of get her accidentally using Force lightning out of emotional turmoil, but how did she manage to shoot lighting when she was using the Force to pull on a ship? Wouldn't it have made more sense (at least going by the rules this movie has about Force lightning) if she was trying to push back something like a big rock, and accidentally used lightning to destroy it instead?
I can't even forgive her using it accidentally. Prior to the sequels, you could never just use the Force when you got emotional, advanced techniques required a certain level of mastery. That's why Anakin didn't just unlock Force lighting when he turned to the Dark Side. Only advanced masters with years of training like Sidious and Dooku could use it, not a rank amateur like Rey with 1 year of training and not even Dark Side training at that.
@@Obi-Wan_KenobiHis transformation to the dark side wasn’t complete until he became Vader but by then he couldn’t used it because it would short circuit his suit. the entire point of the dark side is to use emotional turmoil and rage to make you more powerful? In some of the canon comics that shed light on what happens between ANH and ESB, Luke destroys parts of a ship out of anger. anakin destroys the med room when he learns padmes dead. the point is that a part of rey will always belong to the dark and a part to the light. So in her frustration combined with the blood of a palpatine she uses forcd lighting
Yea remember when only the most powerful sith that spent decades completely cutting themselves from the light could do that? Like 2 very powerful sith against 10 000 jedi sort of power and extreme dedication. Now this ray shkiwalker can just be EmOTioNaL while pushing something and make it fucking explode Like... whoopsies 🥰🥺
My thoughts exactly. Seriously, the sequels basically erased all the training required for Force abilities. Learning how to use the Force is like learning how to use any other skill. It takes training and practice. You can't just get angry or emotional and do something you've never done before. And to be clear, before Rey entered the picture, no character in all of Star Wars ever used a Force ability without training. For God's sake, in the very first movie, Luke had to practice sensing his surroundings before he could apply that skill. That was the films teaching you how the Force worked! The Force is not a power-up or a super power. It is a skill that you need to learn and practice in order to master. It is not an ability you just unlike when you get angry or want something really bad.
You clearly never heard of the Dyad. It's a prophecy just like the Chosen One prophecy. Her, Kylo and Anakin are the only abnormal exceptions to this franchise when it comes to power.
Force lightning is not inherited, it's a power a force user acquires with Sith training. Vader didn't have it because the emperor did everything in his power to control him, to the point of encapsulating him in a walking coffin.
From the entire sequel trilogies logic: Oh shit I am related to Darth Nihilus. Boom I can do force lightning, not a day of learning I can just do it based on my parentage. OMG THIS DUDE KIDNAPPED MY FRIEND AARGH Force Drained an entire planet.

Yes exactly! She didn't project any force TOWARDS the ship to pull it

Funny that she uses it randomly.
No training, no explanation. It just happened

Very much in character for Rey lol.

@@BlueSkullXWhen was the Dyad introduced?
@@KC.45 In some of the few Star Wars novels that were canon years before the Sequels. The sequels just put it on the big screen
Yep that about sums up my reaction to the entire sequels
That’s not how the force works
EXACTLY
my friends and i walked out of the theater when we saw this

Also, Vader wasn't completely cut off from the Light so he couldn't use it no matter what training he got
This, apparently seems to be the only character ever I don't get concerned with us hating on.

How come no lighting came out of her thumb she was already weak enough
YOU HAVE TO TRIAN FOR THAT!
So uncivilized indeed
I didn't even know that happened
You were better off
@@introsense4495 Probably so
I rewatched the movie after hating it for so long, now I kinda like it. At least it has a story unlike TLJ.
I agree
Can't watch it anymore...
It's amazing how cheap becoming a jedi has been made...
i forgot people actually liked this. disgusting
