My First Paragliding flight in Santa Barbara - VOR to the "T" LZ

  • First mountain flight of my training with Eagle Paragliding LLC. in Santa Barbara,CA.. Thanks to the following instructors for their guidance and patience. Rob S., Chris G., Eric S., Austin C., Blake H. and Logan W..
    This was my certification flight for US Hanggliding Paragliding Association (USHPA) P2 Rating.
    I covered 3000' altitude, 5km from launch to LZ and traveled 9km total. 18 minutes of flight time.
    Vario - Syride Vario/GPS
    Camera - GoPro7 with filter.

    That’s Awesome man! I haven’t got to launch VOR, my first flights where from skyport, then EJ, looks like you got a much better LZ there than from the other launches

      Yeah, we toured the other sites and this one had a bit more running room. Keen to get another one this time spend more time looking for thermals.

      @@madsloper yea Sky port has no running room, and my first two flights there where forward inflations, was a little crazy. I didn’t get to thermal at all in Santa Barbara but I’ve climbed 500’ over launch at Tollhouse and climbed out over the valley enough to go back to the ridge where the launch is. Just takes time, those big mountains can get so thermic that the problem isn’t being able to go up but to actually get down when it gets too strong, you can seriously spend a lot of time just trying to get down

      Yes, he launched ahead of everyone to check out the air and find any thermals in the area.
