    The 140 does great. Looks like the plow was cutting ten inches deep. The sandy soil would make great watermelon.

    Joe, thank you for the videos. It’s been 20 years since I lived at a place where I could have a decent size garden, and I had a Super A with fasthitch. I had to work on my steering as well, and I can tell you that replacing tie rod ends is a major point of correction, but the biggest area will be the steering box. Once you get in there and correct whatever you find wrong and change the fluid in it, that tractor will drive straight as an arrow!

    You’re plowing smoother now , no fighting brake ( front end not pulling to side ) . Yes last video I saw front end kinda loose looking . If I run across a one 16 I’ll let you know . Thanks Joey and camera crew , enjoyed! Craig’s list I see them time to time .

    That's just crazy how much dirt that plow is turning over!!!

      It will do a good job and hardly any pull on the tractor.

    Great videos. I am going to try to do a garden this next year with the Cub if everything goes right. I just got it, it was my grandfather's tractor. I'm planning to hook the belly disk plow too it this weekend and try to turn the garden with that disk turn plow. I have an old cut down horse drawn disk that can be used behind it just like your bog disk. And I need to get the planter running this winter and set up. I believe I have everything except a throw out rod for the planter. I need to set it up but I think I will be able to make something out of flat bar and allthread that will work hopefully.
    Your videos are really helping me learn how to set things up. I have all the cultivator shanks but think I may need to get a few more as a few the bars are worn and bent and the adjustment has a lot of slop. I may breakdown and just get a pair of rolling cultivators since I have to buy something...maybe anyway.
    This next year if it comes to fruition will mostly be a play garden I think. Planting deer shelled corn and birdseed black oil sunflower, to save on the seed cost and not hurt my feelings with cultivator blight.

    I am amazed at how easy the tractor pulls the plow. I have plowed with with a model A all manual lift. If the wheel ever spins the latch would hang then you had to drive up the dog out so the wheel sat on ground. A super A will not do that.😊

      The type of soil you was plowing 👍 was ok if you was plowing weeds, corn stocks the Colter will cut through them keeping plow from jamming up. Either way the Colter let's the plow pull easier.

    I run a A 212, 2 bottom through corn stubble in clay with no problem, l found it easy with the tractor weighted up. My rears and fronts are loaded and l have 2 sets of weights on each rear, and one on each front, before that the tractor would struggle or bury itself.

    Awesome video sir, I really enjoy the content that you’re putting on here. Unfortunately I live in Ohio and the attachments for the little Farmall’s are really hard to find. I have a cub and a super A with a full set of cultivators and side dressers but I haven’t been able to find anything else for them yet

    Good job! I'd love to have a single bottom for my 8n, they're hard to find with a 3 point hitch I bet they're even harder with a one point hitch, I've been told that they pull easier and don't choke up like a double bottom will

    Hey just got one of these tractors. Can u tell me how much fluid it supposed to have for the lifts

    • @Jtwes
      @Jtwes  Před 3 lety

      Hello and thanks for watching. The Touch Controll reservoir holds 6 3/4 pt. It uses IH HY- Tran Fluid. The drain for it is on the left side of the tractor on the bottom right of the reservoir. The fill plug is at the top in the middle of the reservoir. I’ve personally always just took the fill plug off and stuck my finger in and down and I want the fluid to be just touch the tip of my finger. The only other way to check that reservoir is to completely drain it and put 6 3/4 pt back in.

    Do you let it sit all winter before you disk or will you do it this fall as well. I just turned my garden at the house over. Never done it with a turn plow before and was wondering. I don't have thick grass like you have and are waiting to rot down.

    • @Jtwes
      @Jtwes  Před 3 lety +1

      Yeah I let it set all winter. Sometimes I might make a broccoli roll up early. But other than that I hit it with the chisel plow in the spring. Winter Mellows it out. Just don’t work it to wet in the spring.

    • @natevanlandingham1945
      @natevanlandingham1945 Před 3 lety +1

      @@Jtwes that was my plan. I knew winter settles it out. And yep I knew not to mess with it when it was wet. Those softball clods will never come out.
      I have an old half of a horse drawn david Bradley disk that I have some lift chains on I can use behind the Cub and I also have a Cub #3 field cultivator I can try out to break it up.
      I also of course have my more modern yet still 40 year old Yanmar with a modern 3pt disk harrow as well.

    • @MarkWYoung-ky4uc
      @MarkWYoung-ky4uc Před 3 lety

      @@Jtwes Excellent advice...if you work it wet in the spring, you'll never forget it as you will fight clods all summer!

    • @robertpayne2717
      @robertpayne2717 Před 2 lety

      @@natevanlandingham1945 if you make clods in the spring and it rains on them before they dry up then you'll have clods all summer long. If you make them and have a 2 to 3 week dry period then they break up fairly easy. But getting a 2 to 3 week dry spell is almost unheard of in the spring.
