The red cabbage indicator is a natural acid-base indicator. What that means is that it turns green when react (or tested) with any base. In the case of a neutral solution, it remains dark blue (or violet) and in an acidic solution, the color of the solution turns pink, in general. You can definitely try this at your home!

Please go through the books or try to find the same information on the Internet. Here's what you will find:
"The color of the cabbage indicator will change to red or pink if the solution is an acid and it will change to green or yellow if it is a base. It will remain purple or blue if the test solution is neutral."
With naked eyes, you don't even see red color solution of the red cabbage juice, it appears purple or blue!
