  • Buy one at Lenovo : lon.tv/ks5j9 (compensated affiliate link) - The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 is an incredibly light weight but full featured Windows laptop. It's well suited for business executives who need something thin, light and rugged for travel. But it does suffer from some performance throttling under heavy load. I like this class of laptop and wish I could justify one. I handled a previous X1 Carbon and was surprised at the leap in build quality versus a standard ThinkPad--a T490 at the time.

I think the P series processor is a mistake. I have the 1st generation Nano with a U series, it's's great on battery and silent unless doing a Windows Update. I got my on ebay, and like you said for a split second, I thought I got ripped off! It really does feel like a chassis with nothing inside it's so light. 😂

Thanks for this, Lon. Do you think the X13s is the better option for those who prioritize cellular connectivity and battery life? It seems that the X1 nano Intel chip doesn’t perform as well as it could, so I wonder if the X13s Snapdragon chip actually performs better or similarly. Perhaps, the only real draw for X1 nano is Thunderbolt, but it’s too bad 32GB RAM is not an option.

Fingerprint sensor under Linux? You have said it worked fine under Ubuntu. So what about its fingerprint sensor there?

$1,800 to me is just too much for like an ultrabook. It's not big enough to have the thermals to do really powerful work....

Nah, Lenovo fell into marketing tactic of inflating the launch price of its laptop and to sell it discounted later on. Last gen Nano with price of 1700 usd had discounted sale of 1200 usd on prime day last year.

No one would buy it with a N100 processor, but that's about all it needs.
