Matador say their FlatPak Toiletry Bottle is the only travel bottle specifically designed for minimalist and ultralight adventures. We took it on the road for about a month of travel around Detroit and Barcelona to see how it performs.
Overall, the Matador FlatPak Toiletry Bottle offers a fresh, new way to carry your liquids on the road. Although we have some concerns about the durability of the cap connection and noticed some fraying around the edges, the flexible form makes it easy to pack and utilize on the road. We're definitely happy with the take Matador has created when it comes to traveling with liquids, and looking forward to seeing what they come up with next.

These are my absolute favorite toiletry bottle! Plus the soap holder. I took it on a 6wk trip across Europe and I also take them all the time to hot springs. I definitely don't suggest runny liquids because these are super easy to squeeze, especially when opening the lid. Mine haven't frayed and I've had them almost a year now. Highly HIGHLY recommend!

Hey C T - that's great to hear! We're so glad these products are working well for you. It sounds like you've really put them to the test, so it's awesome that they're still holding up. Thanks for sharing your experience with the community! 😊👍

Another awesome review! I love you're show-and-tell style, where you demonstrate what you're saying (e.g. showing an actual credit card, demoing the flimsy flap). Some reviewers just talk about the bag, but don't show it in everyday use. Also really like the durability sections. Keep it up! :D

Also, another thing you can do: color in the labels with different colors. that way you can distinguish between different products, but also keep it generic so you can reuse it with other liquids

My $0.02 on these - love 'em, with a couple of caveats. First, they don't leak. These things usually go in my checked luggage with all the other things that TSA doesn't like you to have on your person. When i first got them I tested them out by filling them with water and squeezing them in my fist - no leaking, lid didn't pop open. For safety I put them in a little ziploc baggie in my dopp kit, but so far nothing has leaked out of them. The flip-lid design is well thought out, although I suspect that eventually the hinge will fail - it would be interesting to know how many open/close cycles Matador put these through during testing. Since it's the expansion of air in containers that usually causes leakage at the opening, these are probably less susceptible to that.
I don't use them for alcohol or DEET-based liquids (DEET is the nastiest stuff in the world around any plastics except for Nalgene jars) - since Matador cautions against alcohol I'm guessing it won't do the pouch much good.
Word of caution - if you put really liquidy liquids in them (like Dr. Bronner's liquid soap) you'll want to be careful when using, since the liquid likes to run out - this isn't like a squeeze bottle where you have to apply pressure to dispense the liquid. Thicker liquids - sun block, toothpaste, that sort of thing - are no problem.
So far I've used them for a year, and have no complaints - my luggage generally takes a lot of abuse, and these have stood up to it well.

Contrary to your review and other reviewers, these do leak. Mine has lost its adhesion around then hard plastic collar of the valve and liquid oozes out. I think they are poor quality for the money charged

Works pretty well. We didn't jump on it during our testing or anything, but squeezed it with our hands really hard and the cap stayed sealed. Works well with average use, but you probably wouldn't want to run it over with a car :)

I’m actually looking for a good solution for my contact lens fluid. I had plastic bottles before that let the fluid drip out nicely, but they had flip caps so I wasn’t entirely comfortable as they might give way under pressure. Now I have silicone bottles with a valve, but that results in the fluid spraying out. So not ideal either, and the cap on one of them gives wsy far too easily as well. I did find a set of 3 100ml dropper bottles on Amazon with screw-on caps. Thinking about getting those, after I get a new dopp kit bag.

I like these little things but, just like the GooToobies, they’re not practical for watery liquids like, say, mouthwash, rubbing alcohol, diluted Bronner’s, vodka. Opening the bottle allows any very thin liquid to immediately and freely flow. Uncontrollably. So, I still carry at least one old fashioned flip top squeeze bottle in the toiletry kit.

I'd reinforce that with a small strip of duck tape. Stitch in time. Use colored duck tape and it can be a secondary ID for contents. I'd also put a piece of duck or painter's tape over the label surface. I don't like flip caps on toiletry bottles. Ticking time bomb for leakage. I always tape mine down for air travel with painter's tape. You can also use a piece of duck tape over the cap with a 1cm long "tail". Slip a small rubber band or O ring around the neck of the bottle under the cap and use it to secure the tail to help keep the cap closed.
