@@neilmckimm5077yeah it boomed in 1 year. She only started two years ago and she already had celeb cameos. Social media had been such and equalizer for bringing talented creatives the platform they never would’ve gotten in the industry because of wealth and nepotism. But now, they’re coming for social media lol. A lot of her content is just redoing other people’s videos but with better lighting and background because of her resources. That being said, this is a bit of an exaggeration to a marie antoinette joke when there’s more villainous pro-Israel celebs and politicians to fry. She’s no different than any other celebrity at that event. She’s just dumb enough to say something so stupid bc she doesn’t have as good as PR. Screw all of them equally

How is it satire if she literally is just a rich person who made a lot of money from divorce? I’m being for real with this question. Jreg is a similar type of “everything I do is satire” type of creator, but what makes him work is that he satirizes the political climate like in the Boondocks. He intentionally makes it unclear what side he’s on to emphasize the potency of his specific critique of the institution as a whole without diluting discussions with people arguing about his bias. I think in recent years he’s come out as liberal tho.
With Hailey, she’s satirizing rich trad wives… but ain’t she herself a rich wife? Won’t that dilute her satire? She ain’t a poor woman or a woman of unknown wealth making fun of extreme wealth-she IS extreme wealth, except she wears it ‘sarcastically.’ This is giving Jeffrey Star “I’m a rich asshole but you love me because I’m self aware about it.” We loved him… till we realized how messed up he was and how little his sarcasm/self-awareness covered it up. It’s not cute, it’s hypocrisy. Also, her billion dollar boyfriend is a joke, but wasn’t she married to a rich NFL player?
I think the “let them eat cake” bit could work as a great piece of satire, but it’s muddied by the fact that we can’t tell what’s real ignorance (billion dollar boyfriend) and what’s not (divorced an NFL player and she does have a 17k a month apartment). We’re stuck arguing about her rich person bias and whether it’s real or all fake. Like the way people make fun of CinemaSins for including real nitpicks with the joke ones, making it unclear if they’re being satirical or not.
Could someone more knowledgeable on Hailey chime in on this aspect? What bit about her personal brand differentiates her from say, an unholy mix of CinemaSins and JeffreyStar?

There's a lot of anger over income inequality and complacency in genocide, and a lot of more individualist liberals are gonna project the blame and the righteous anger onto specific people rather than the systems they live in. Someone was gonna catch that blame and be the proverbial scapegoat; Haylee like many celebrities is out of touch, wealthy, politically ignorant, and public-facing, so on the list of potential candidates she goes. She just got unlucky being the one chosen, largely because she made something out-of-touch to someone just seeing shapes and colors; it's "wrong place wrong time" type shit.

She pays more in rent than a month Walmart manager makes a year. She’s with an NFL player and he pays for some of that condo, she’s not a “girl boss”. She gets endless PR, that dress from her friend mark, mark is a professional designer, she gets free designer hand made dresses, it’s more than just some little friend. She’s not normal, even if she didn’t pay that much in rent, the amount of free designer PR she gets is enough for her to not be “normal”. Not to mention that “vampire machine” she mentions is like thousands of dollars alone lol

Food for thought peasants ate bread and drank water to live and survive in modern day they found alternatives to these that are much cheaper because let's face it in America if you're poor you can't afford fresh bread or water

This whole "Blockout" thing is performative activism at it's peak.

i don't know. it surely doesn't do as much as donation or physical protests, but i feel like it does send a message. especially when mass blocking of influencers who LIVE off their following. i see performative activism as more of Taylor Swift making the music video for her song about gay marriage which felt like an afterthought and then never talking about those things again. this feels like people actually want to make some sort of difference even if they can't donate and can't afford going out to college or whatnot to protest.

this whole "i'm going to contradict actions, no matter how small, that ALL people can take against late stage capitalism and its many institutions" thing is redundant and not adding anything substantive. AT LEAST people are realizing that celebrity culture is of no benefit to the proletariat. it is meant to distract us.

to me, this is peak obnoxious internet culture using any excuse to call someone out of touch. yeah the audio was in bad taste, which she apologized for. hayley is not a huge name in the industry and with it apparently being a trending sound i get how she made that oversight especially since she literally wasn’t even invited to the met. you can be wealthy, intelligent, educated, etc. and still not necessarily be informed on current political events OR not be confident enough in how informed you are to spread your opinion on your social media platform. i don’t inherently expect every single celebrity or influencer to be educated on current events like gaza and israel and i would much rather they stay silent on an issue they’re not well informed on rather than potentially spread misinformation.
i also don’t get why people are so stun locked at the fact they’ve never heard of her. every other day i come across someone on my feed with millions of followers who i’ve never heard of either. welcome to the internet, it’s fucking huge. she does red carpet interviews so i’d imagine a big chunk of her audience has come from fans of people she’s interviewed.

They are incredibly out of touch though, living in their own fairytale world without a care about how others have it and what's wrong with the world. They bury their head in the sand screaming LALALALALA can't hear and their mindless fans do the same. People need to wake up and these shitty celebs and consumer culture is keeping the masses in their litte protected bubble while the world is on fire amd the corporations are fucking us from behind
