My 68 Cougar was my first car when I was 15. Life happened and now at 40 she’s back on the road after sitting 10 years. I love it way more now then I ever did. What a unique car
I know its an old video but I give him props for the old school country boy dirt road rip! I've seen a manual transmission and a V8 on the roads and you definitely have to build up to that level
67 cougar on a dirt road... I like that 👍
Perfect video on how to treat a muscle car
The dirt roads are the funnest to thrash em at🤟🏽
Too many rocks on that dirt road for me. Count me out.
I had a Black on Black 67 Cougar with a straight body and an XR7 interior. It was a 302 bored 60ths over, 1/4 pack glass side pipes with a 411 posi rear end. Started with a B&M slapstick automatic then dropped a 3 speed stick from what I think was a 65 or 66 Mustang in it. Bought it when I was 16 in '84. I could cry for selling it after 5 years.
I own a 68 and I love it. Idk if it's the model style but it's still current when you drive it out, it sticks out due to its beauty but it still have the similar design as a new challengers. And the headlights is gorgeous
Bro that Car brings a smile to your face. That's all I need.
My '68 Cougar looks almost identical to yours except for the side markers. I've slung it around on dirt roads right after a rain storm and had the whole back half of the car covered in mud. That was probably the most fun I've had in the car. I beat on mine every time I take it out.
I'm building a 67 Cougar on my channel. I can't wait until I'm able to thrash it on some backroads. Thanks for driving this thing like it was meant to be driven. I really enjoyed the video.
Hurry up and finish that thing! I'm waiting for new videos!!!
Love the 1967 Mercury Cougar. It's on the very top of my list of next cars to buy. As feedback next time just don't add any music overlay. There is no need for it ;)
I have one buddy. Needs work but I bought it recently and looking to sell
@@travisscheppele2600 Hey man. Sorry took me a while to get back to you. I would be super interested in your offer but as of right now I'm fully focused on rebuilding my 95 Skyline R33 GTR. On top of that I'm still in Europe and plan to move back to the states in 3-4 years. If by chance you still have the Mercury by that time I surely will get in touch with you. Cheers
It's like the Duke's of Hazard lol
Driving something the way it was ment to be driven. Subscribed. Too many of these old cars sit in some rich persons garage never driven
Couldnt agree with this more.
I’m going to have to disagree somewhat. Ain’t no way I’m going to kick up rocks into my daily driver like at 1:26 let alone my classic car. I cringed when I had to slowly drive my ‘71 over a gravel parking lot a few days ago and a few rocks stuck in the tread hit the wheel well when I took off.
Taking a classic car out & thrashing on it isn't the only way to get enjoyment out of owning one. I have a 1967 Cougar which sits in the garage most of the time because it's nearly all original with 46k miles on it. 289 with factory 3 speed on the floor. Factory original paint, interior, glass. The engine has never been pulled & rebuilt or anything major like that. No rust or rust bubbles under the paint. Of course I've had to replace a few typical wear components like the tires, brake shoes, fluids & filters. Also when the original owner ordered it back in 1967 he had the dealership install dual exhaust with glasspacks. I have the original invoice for it. Which I don't mind that at all since everyone likes the sound of a classic V8, myself included.
I'm not rich & I'm in my 30s. I do drive it occasionally, but I get _far_ more enjoyment out of preserving it in its original condition than I would by thrashing on it. I want someone from a future generation to also be able to own it some day & appreciate its history.
It's also a lot different when you had to work hard to be able to afford it yourself, with your own money. Whereas the guy in this video said his dad bought him that Cougar when he was 16 & they restored it together over a 2 year period. He didn't really have to do a lot of work to earn that car therefore he does not appreciate it as much someone who had to put in many long hours of overtime at their job to afford a classic car.
@@FinalFrontCars are a little like horses. They love to be exercised. A car that is regularly put through its paces will have fewer age-related issues than a car that isn’t. It will have more wear than an untouched car, but ultimately, these were meant to be driven. It’s one thing to leave a vehicle in disrepair, it’s another thing entirely to use it as it wants to be used and care for it accordingly. It’s an unforgettable experience.
There are also many things that can be done to mitigate wear and damage from activities like what’s shown in the video. Mud flaps are one specific example.
Nice driving! Good to see someone else who isn't afraid to blast around on the dirt.
Dukes of hazzard meets cougar ;)
Great cat clips. Glad it was Roscoe's day off. See you at the Boar's Nest
Such a menacing car man. I like it.
This is my favorite car tho I prefer the 68’ for some reason. Idk. Just need to add a nice looking spoiler and it would be one nice looking car.
That thumbnail is sick af🔥🔥🔥
I want one of these so bad
Love the 67! This one is a great example of these dope pony cars.
Great to see you have a 67 Cougar. I have one also. But I can guarantee that if you drive it like that, you won't have it very long. The law of averages says you're going to come unstuck and smash your car into a tree, or worse another vehicle. Sorry to be so negative but I've learned a few things in the last 60 years, mostly from doing things like you're doing in this video. Enjoy your awesome car but take good care of it also. They're not making 'em anymore!
Thanks Stephen, I appreciate your concern. You might be relieved to know that I don't drive like that unless we are filming for a video. I spent 6 months beating out body panels on that car once, and I hope to never do it again. Glad you too are a Cougar owner, maybe this reply will help you sleep a little better at night. Hope to see your car at a meet one day, Wesley Cameron.
thanks dad
Sounds awesome
Love it! Hoping to own one of these some day
It sounds awesome
I know im a little late, but my neighbor has a 67 cougar for $2000. It runs but is really old and the floor board is rusted in it. Is this an ok price and if so should I buy it? The leather seats are cracked as well.
If it runs and drives thats a great price. As for if you should buy it, that depends on your access to tools, desire to own an old car, etc. If you really want a project and have basic restoration skills, time, a place to put/work on the car, and a little cash to throw at it its a wonderful experience. Of course, we are always happy when an old car gets saved. Hope this helps, good luck!
Thisbis the look i wana go for my 1979 z28 all black with wheels like that looks awesome in my opnion damn i regret selling my 68 cougar 😰
Keepin' it REAL
60 fps is real good.
2:44
Great video! I own a 67 cougar 289-4v black on black as well. I've always felt these cars were meant to be driven.
Is that South Carolina? looks like the low country.
sidx45 that's actually north Mississippi. Ha low country for sure
Can't do this with my 67 coronet ever scene I dropped a 440 in it with a q jet carb with the big trash cans in the back just trys to take you in a creek
HAHAAHA
I like the intro
Great video, Great Car!!!
Any chance you did some event that took you through Jennings LA where you let some random Cougar fan sit in your car?
Equals1337 maybe so. When was this?
I wanna say 2 years ago. I have the picture I took somewhere. You had a buddy with you and you were with a bunch of older vehicles. I turned my ecobox around just to see the cougar.
I watched your other video and I'm pretty sure it's the same story you said then.

Equals1337 yeah man I remember you. Glad to see you found our CZcams channel, thanks for taking interest in my car that day. It's nice to see people appreciate the car I have worked so hard on.
nice car
Mercury should send you a check because now I'm looking to get one!
They are out of business. 🤦♂️
I have a 67 with the stock 289... looking to upgrade the motor and get some more power... have a list of you engine modifications anywhere? Any idea what you are getting out of it?
The configuration i had for all the current vids was flat top pistons, ported stock heads, ported stock 4 barrel intake, 650cfm edelbrock, headers, and full exhaust. It had 10.5 to 1 compression and stock valve train so it made decent torque but pretty terrible horsepower. It was cheap and fun as you can tell, but now the car has a cam and intake
Racing Rejects right on, yeah def looks fun.. my goal is to add at least 100 hp
So you are looking to be around 300 hp?
Hey what size are those wheels and tires? Backspacing?
In this video, the cougar had the stock 14 inch mag rims with 235 60r14 tires on it. I think the backspacing on those is 4.5.
I am currently running 255 on the back with a 17 inch rim and 5 inch backspacing. I would suggest 4.5 inch backspacing, i had to roll the fenders slightly.
smooth turner....
Nice video and car.
I miss mine everyday
What engine You have in it as sounds great?
Johnny Yum 289 with higher compression pistons and headers
🤯
🙏🏽
what’s the part list
Dude! Looks like you're upstate maybe. I have a white 67' down in Hilton Head. Shes got a built 302 with a T5. I got a bunch of guys with muscle cars that love to cruise. Message me if you ever get down this way. Id love to either meet up to get our girls together in a vid, or have you come cruise with all my boys and girls in the SCMCS!
Damn does that car sound badass. What engine is in it, I didn't catch that in the video.
High compression 289, basically a old school "high output" 289. Since that video we have put a cam, different heads, intake, and other goodies. Tune in to see an update later
@@RacingRejects Wow, a 289. You got it purrin like the big cat it is!
289s are not to be underestimated. They’re amazing engines
absolutely!
I just haven't figured out why you guys think Ragging the SHIT out of a car is so fun?
Sıralı sistem tüp takılsa kaç sent yakar reis ?
Tr de helalinden 2 lirası var bunun xd
Buddy it's a classic, I wish you'd treat it nicer. That was my first car 44 years ago. I drove mine like that and now I don't have it anymore. I wish I knew then what we know now .
thats your car man.that IS your car.
Yes it is. Thanks for watching!
What engine it have? Doesn't sound stock?
Johnny Yum you can make it sound like anything with the right mufflers, that’s how idiot ricers make their 3 bangers so loud, but this car has a very deserving exhaust tone, high compression 289
@@actiniumanarchy9237 4 banger?
@@haydenhale2646 or 3 bangers
I have hotwheels like that
tbh the headlights up ruins the look of the front of the car
Nice video! Just don't scratch that nice paint job!
Young sir KEEP THAT SPIRIT!
Breaks my heart seeing you do that to that car on a dirt road.
Trevor Hohmann breaks my heart seeing classic cars riding on a trailer to their every destination
Being a daily driver is way different than being abused on a dirt road. I would drive it everyday on the street but would baby it. It would never see winter and stay parked in the garage. That is one my favorite muscle cars. It is your vehicle, destroy it if you want to lol. But these cars are never coming back.
Don't be a smart ass. Plenty of people find ways to thrash their cars without ruining the paint.
lmao ya and those break my heart too genius. He posted a video of him dirt tracking one of my favorite muscle cars...so I posted about him...dirt tracking...
Racing Rejects Same here,do the same thing with my mustang
Fuckin beautiful 😍
Take the background music out 😳
How much did it cost overall to make it a reliable daily driver?
That’s a hard question to answer because this car was in ROUGH shape when Wesley bought it and it has been refined over the last few years. Depending on the car, you could easily spend $2k - $5k+ to make it reliable and safe. Check out our video: HOW-TO: Daily Drive a Classic Musclecar; it will give you a good idea on what you might need for your car.
@@RacingRejects i had a68 after high. Scool for3years. Its aclassic now some bring top money sell it to someone who will respect the car and make it last a long time. You are afucking fool. Stupid dumbass
enjoyd your video very much,,, only in the car and even outside your voice is way to soft mate.. greets a other mustang rider.. look at my account
Great video, but ditch the music next time. If you absolutely have to use music, go for some Heavy Metal instead. It's more fitting for a car such as this.
Hick
great car horrible video edit.
when it comes to cars the engine noise is the music to the video
