SCP-2450 is an infectious disease that causes severe hyperdontia in unusual areas of the body. The initial infection source is the area contained by Building-2450, a former male bathroom.
Initial stage infection results in the patient presenting hyperdontia (the eruption of extra teeth) in various body orifices. The first orifice to be affected is usually the mouth, with teeth erupting from gums, palate, and frenulum, but once the disease has progressed, all bodily openings will be affected. The size of teeth grown varies but tends to be proportional to the size of the opening. SCP 2450 teeth will grow at a rate roughly twelve times that of natural teeth, taking typically between 3 weeks and 9 months for a tooth to grow from germ to full root completion, depending on size. Teeth will grow in rows further and further back into the orifice as the disease progresses.
Latter stage SCP2450 infection will begin to occur once all natural bodily orifices have grown at least one full row of teeth. In this occasion, areas of the body which are not orifices but form a semi-closed shape, such the eyes or the interspaces between toes, will also begin to erupt teeth. In addition, any apertures formed in the body by external trauma, such as cuts to the skin, will develop SCP-2450 teeth.
Calcium and other minerals required to grow the teeth are taken from the body's natural stores, and, consequently, SCP-2450 infection can result in osteoporosis and hypocalcaemia. Patients may be kept alive despite this by administering calcium and mineral supplements, and will keep producing teeth indefinitely.
The tooth-growing process has been described by patients as extremely painful, and similar to the teething pains experienced by children and young adults during the development of normal teeth.

The scary thing is that real diseases like this kind of exist. Hyperdontia as mentioned in the video give you extra teeth, but thankfully only near where teeth should normally be.
Diseases like Melorheostosis are the real scary ones as they cause uncontrolled new bonegrowth on your existing bones. These new growths may not be teeth, but having randomly growing bony spikes and chunks inside your body is nightmare fuel.
Epidermodysplasia verruciformis, also known as tree man syndrome is a skin condition which causes painful wart like growths having the appearance of tree bark, the people affected by this condition have the appearance of nightmarish monsters.
Technically teeth aren't bones anyway even though they're classified in with our skeletal system. If I remember right they're closer to our fingernails than they are actual bone. But I don't remember exact details so definitely feel free to fact check 😅 but yeah these are scary and hyperdontia freaks me out ever since I saw photos bc why do they grow on the roof of the mouth and everything like uegw ick 💀
I also remember a rare disease similar to the latter one, however the bone growth occurs when a person is injured, causing bones to begin growing where flesh would normally grow
@@maxzapsgamingzepzeap2337 I hate that one. Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva is a condition that lives rent-free in my head due to how nightmarish it is. Not only does the condition cause any wounds to heal in the form of bone growths (meaning that a paper cut becomes a thick patch of bone instead of a scab), but the bones are extremely painful while they are growing, and they don't even need the patient to experience an injury for the condition to keep forming new bones in and on their body. Regardless of whether the patient gets injured or not, they'll just randomly keep growing new bone lumps all over themselves until they are so covered in bone that they cannot move. It's like a full-body cast, but an extremely heavy and painful one that never stops growing thicker and stronger. Eventually, even the jaw locks into place, so covered in bone that it can no longer move in order to speak or eat. By that point, the patients are bedridden, completely paralyzed, and in constant pain...and most nightmarish of all, they don't actually die of calcium deficiency or some other comorbidity, but rather, they frequently die of suffocation...when the chest becomes so heavily coated in bone that the ribs cannot expand enough to take in a full breath of air. They are unable to get enough air to even scream by the time the disease finally kills them.
It may be the single worst way to die that I know of. Even the worst medieval tortures I have ever heard of will at least have the grace to kill the victim faster than fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva will, even if the tortures occasionally manage to be more painful than constant bone growth all over the body. The fact that human DNA contains the code necessary to produce such nightmares reminds me of just how many other diseases could be buried in our genetics, only prevented from reappearing by the fact that our ancestors who previously contracted these diseases were all killed by them before they could pass the disease on to their descendants.
Ordinary life can be one creepy SCP, man.

For those who don't know, there are so many tooth-related anomalies that there is literally an SCP Foundation department that focuses exclusively on these anomalies, because usually these are very difficult to contain (seriously, many dental anomalies are Keter, which is pretty crazy). So even though Dr. Bob is putting out a lot of videos of those kinds of anomalies, in the grand scheme of things, it's not that much, it could be worse. At least this channel is not like SCP Explained, where all their latest videos with new SCPs include compilations, not to mention all the compilations that are already uploaded and that in comparison I find that the quality of videos on this channel is better. In short, thank you for another great video Dr. Bob.

I didn't think about it until now, but there are a LOT of dental SCPs, with good reason too. Eyes and teeth seem to be the more unsettling parts of the body. We dont want anything bad to happen to our eyes and teeth, but we also hate seeing an excess of them.
If I had a dollar for every SCP that makes you grow/gives you extra teeth, I'd have way too many dollars than I'd feel comfortable with.

@@draw2death421 no seriously, not every introvert has the same ludicrously huge bubble of personal space but some do, including myself. We “extra introverted” (for complete lack of a better term) get really really overwhelmed in any space with even just a few people in it. I can’t say for others, but for me, the smaller the space, the lower that number of people is for me to get overwhelmed.

If you think about it, probably 90% of horrorific elements come from facial features, either full facial or partly facial. We have eyes as the number 1 (big eyes, eyes in the dark, unnaturally white eyes, eyes all over the place , ...) , then teeth as number 2 (wide smile, predatory teeth/mouth, ...)

That said this is probably my fav tooth-related SCP & unlike most others actually gave me chills, which is impressive. The fact that the disease has an infinite cycle for those afflicted makes it much more tragic

Corporate anomalies like SCP-4985 and SCP-1442 have recently caught my interest.
SCP-4985 gets very little coverage but it's an interesting skip with a highly unorthodox company culture run like a kingdom. Would make for some interesting animation.
