GHSA 1A Public Final: Brooks County vs. Irwin County - Dec. 9, 2021

Brooks County’s Omari “O.J.” Arnold broke Herschel Walker’s 1979 state championship game rushing record by two yards, galloping for 320 yards and five touchdowns as the Trojans beat region rival Irwin County 56-28 for the 1-A Public championship. Arnold burst through the line for a 70-yard touchdown on the second play from scrimmage. The Georgia Southern signee would later add scoring runs of 86, 56, 36 and 3 yards for Maurice Freeman’s Trojans who won their first state title since 1994.
