I'm looking forward to finally getting that one to the table! It's punched and the rules are sitting on my table, but then I found myself playing Atiwa this week. 🙃

Had a few similar channel-themed games this month:
    5) Oceanus
    4) Everdell (both board game & digital - the app is interesting that you can play an AI opponent or Solo - as the board game)
    3) Verdant (my daughter has won EVERY time we have played this! Lol).
    2) Wingspan (both board game and digital)
    1) Cascadia - our go to…
FYI, I researched on BGG a couple solo versions for Trekking the National Parks (originally for the 1st edition, but Karen? Adjusted it for the 2nd edition). I am very intrigued by your playthrough and review of Harmonies (btw, thanks!).

      @bitsandbiology  Před 10 dny +1

I haven't played Oceans or Everdell yet, but I'm certain I would enjoy them! I love the other three. 🙂
I just found out there's a 3rd edition of Trekking the National Parks coming out that includes solo rules! For those of us who already have the 2nd edition, they will release print and play files for the solo cards (and rules). I don't think I can post a link here (CZcams restrictions), but if you go to the game page on BGG, there' a post at the top of the forums that has more information.
I'm glad you enjoyed the Harmonies video! Thanks for watching!

Hey Liz, great video. I'm local here in the U.S. Glad I found this channel as I vasilste from Sci fi to nature themed games. Would like to see you do a play thru & review of Weather Machine & the Fox Experiment. Thx for considering!

I think Vital Lacerda has spoken... you should do Weather Machine! I had a big board gaming Fathers' Day weekend up here in Canada (west coast). A highlight was my non-gamer son playing Darwin's Journey with me. Interestingly, he seems to like heavier thematic games like that or very light games, not the mid weights I usually play with my wife and daughter. I got in 9 other games between them, extended family and friends if I'm counting Thursday as the weekend. Love the channel, think I'm going to have to watch your Darwin's Journey video next, though I have also played it solo myself. Seeing your copy of Evolution New World on the shelf has me wanting a video of that from you as well... played it solo but kinda didn't get some things...
    Love your channel, thank you!

I think you're right - Weather Machine definitely coming soon! That's exciting that your son enjoyed Darwin's Journey, and funny about him liking the extremes but not the middle, sort of anti-Goldilocks. 😁 I will add Evolution New World to the list! Thanks for watching!

@@bitsandbiology I've not played a Lacerda game and want to. Weather Machine hasn't been on my radar, but I'll definitely watch your video!
Yeah, my son's tastes in games are kinda funny. I'm always on the hunt for games my family will enjoy, my two sons are the toughest... they're 'bored' gamers!
      Cool, thanks!

Hey Liz. Thanks for the vlog. If you have more details regarding Cat Lady (e.g., your review, comparison to other cat-themed games, etc.), I would love to hear them. I am considering the game for my daughter - who LOVES cats. No rush - as I am beginning to research the game for a potential holiday gift! ❤

Hi Steve! Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the vlog!
Cat Lady is a great little card game with adorable art. Suitable for entry level, but interesting enough for experienced gamers as a light "filler" game (or a quick weeknight game). I definitely recommend it for somebody who loves cats. It plays well at all player counts, and won't be leaving our collection anytime soon. 🙂
The mechanisms are open drafting with set collection where players take a row or column from a 3x3 grid of cards on their turn. The grid is replenished between players, but the next player can't take the same row/column as the previous player. Most of your points come from collecting cats, but only if you can feed them. There are also points for sets of toys and for having the most costumes. There are penalties for not having any costumes and for having too much leftover food at the end of the game.
Alex at BoardGameCo has a review video with his daughter; I think they do a good job of getting across the feel of the game. The criticisms are valid, but not unexpected for a game like this; in the end, they both enjoy it. 🙂czcams.com/video/UcBRZzmpEUQ/video.html
As for other games with cats, we only have one, and that is Calico, which is a very thinky tile laying game that has been accused of being a little too punishing at times. I enjoy it, but I don't think my mom would - she would probably say there are too many things to keep track of. We like it as a two player game. It's also great solo.
Boop is another cat-themed game I've been wanting, and will definitely get someday. It's a two-player game played on a grid, but I haven't played it yet, and don't feel confident enough to describe it, other than it looks adorable, but is likely much thinkier than it looks like it will be from the box. 😁
      I hope that helps!

I really enjoyed Daybreak solo. Darwin’s Journey looks really nice but it’s a bit too heavy for me and worker placement is one of my least favorite mechanism (I know that’s an unpopular opinion 😅). I just sold my copy of A Feast for Odin.

It's good to know what you're not a fan of! I will definitely give Daybreak a try on BGG, probably sometime this week, as soon as work calms down a bit. 🙂

I've just started watching. I tried to join the discord from my phone, but it only brings me to my Discord homepage without any indication that your channel is available. It could be me.

I tried the link using my old Discord account, and it asked me if I wanted to join Bits & Biology. Maybe try it from a computer? I know it shouldn't matter, but that's the only thing I can think of. If that doesn't work, let me know, and I will generate a new link and send it to you in the Gaming Rules Slack channel (I don't think I can post links in the comments here). 🙂
Thanks for trying to join the Discord!
