    Will only 1 kind of drum tom set fit to a symbol stand. Do you have to get a specific kind?

      There is another option which is a floor tom mounting converter . It changes the drum Mount to from a single, side connector to three floor rods on its own tripod rim. It inserted onto the resonant rim and allows a conventional ‘floating’ tom of 14” or 16” diameter to be played like any other side-mounted leg, model. This allows the drum to produce the the usual audio characteristics expected from a vertical shell.
