I have nothing but love for "Daylight", the video and song, and you guys. My roommate and I used to watch it all the time because we thought it was a great video and we loved the song so much. Then she got me Grand for Christmas and we listened to it non-stop. It was our go-to for late night dance breaks while studying. You guys are pretty much got us through college and grad school, with most of our sanity intact. :)
It does! It reminds a lot of our midnight trips for snacks, too. In fact, sometimes we'd drive to Wal-Mart just to listen to music and get out of the house and Wal-Mart or McDonald's were all that was open after 10. So, it was honestly the highlight of those trips!
For someone who suffers with depression, your music and the happiness that you excude has given me so much faith to continue on. Regardless of how many haters are out there, I hope you two find comfort in that your love for what you do is so inspiring and has inspired me (and many others) to continue on in so many ways. It is a genuine goal of mine to be as happy as you two are one day and live life with that same positive mentality. I don't mean to be cheesy but thank you. Your music and just you two as individuals have really been a great influence on how I manage myself and my disorder. Thank you for being who you are and doing what you do.

I know that this sounds corny, but I actually have a picture of you guys from your "Hey Now" music video on my vision board in my room. When I first saw that video, I probably watched it 1,000 times, not just because it is an amazing song, but because you guys are so full of joy and life, that it's infectious. You find happiness no matter where you go or what you're doing, even when you visit a creepy abandoned zoo, and that really inspires me. Whenever I'm feeling down, I can look at that picture of Matt singing and Kim twerking, and it reminds me that I can find joy in anything and everything that I do, too. I love you guys

Been loving you guys since I was in 6th grade and I'm a sohmore in college now (what up Pratt Institute). but yeah, Daylight is like an old friend. Story time about Daylight on a youth psych ward: When I had to be hospitalized at 13, I was on a ward with a lot of kids who were older than me. that was some scary shit, but there was a piano. Some kids heard me playing Daylight and asked me to teach them. I still remember how excited they got when they saw and heard themselves playing. I spent almost a whole day teaching this girl how to play just the right hand. when she finally got it right she jumped away from the keys like it electrocuted her and yelled in with a mix of disbelief and pride, "SHIT! I DID THAT!" Your song certainly didnt cure anyones mental illness, but it was a small joy in a time when a lot of people needed it. these vlogs are great. you guys are great. come back to Pratt anytime :)
You guys are one of the most positive and upbeat bands that bring me a heck of a lot of joy. I'll be honest, when I go to a concert, I rarely enjoy opening bands. Most times I can't wait for their set to be done. However, when I saw you guys open for Blink and MCR, I was hooked. You guys had the crowd going crazy, Kim was standing on her drums, there were balloons everywhere. You guys were exciting and energetic and just made everything feel happy. I've been a fan ever since :)

The summer before my freshman year my sister found an iPod on the ground while walking home; there was no name on it or address so she gave it to me. I turned it on and I heard your song Cutdown I loved it so much I started listening to you guys and I realized I love all of your songs. When I need a pick up or some relief you guys are my go to. When I was 17 I made a promise to myself that you guys would be my first concert, and I stuck by it; I skipped out on a couple of other concerts but it was worth it! It was the best night of my life and I will never forget it! You guys are truly inspiring and the fact that you do so much all by yourselves is amazing! Keep it up you guys!
I have loved ya'lls songs since the beginning. I have been a fan for a very very long time! I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that had me bedridden for months and all the medication I was given to make the pain go away made me loose like 12 kg ( too lazy to find out how many pounds) I didn't have anything to loose besides my muscles. Anyway long story short the last five years have been super tough and the first few years and months of not being able to keep food down, sleep or let alone raise my arms, I started listening to ya'lls music again. I am a dancer and hope to dance again in the future but lying in bed and listening / watching ya'lls videos helped me keep dancing even if it was just my soul booty hopping along side Kim. Yall really brought joy in my life when all I wanted to do was end it! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!! Loads of Love from South Africa! You guys are some of my favorite people on the planet! I saw you play back in 2013 in Santa Anna and it might have been the best night of my life.. definitely the best concert I've ever been to (and I've seen a LOT of bands.) I crowd surfed for the first time there and I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face. I was extremely depressed when I saw you guys perform and it made me remember what it was like to feel alive. I could never thank you enough for all of the positivy you two have brought into my life.
I have loved this song for years and still love it to this day. My kids have grown listening to this album and they love it. (they are 11 and 9) This is one of our favorites songs we like to jam really loud in the car. We listened to it twice in a row today, in fact! It's such a feel good song. I knew several of y'all's songs from several years ago but I didn't really listen to them and really start enjoying them until a little less than a year ago. I can't hear 'World is Ending' anymore without crying or becoming very close to after I went to London this summer. I got this really shitty, choppy time lapse of the London Eye and had the track in the background, and now it's one of my favorite songs to listen to just because it makes me think of the best trip I've ever taken in my life. You guys were the first artist that I've liked every song you had and bought every single one of them. That basically means you guys are probably pretty damn good bc Im a kid with no cash and I don't know where I got the money to get all those songs. It's all good memories because right when I listened all of them is when life really picked up for me, so it means a lot. Thank you, and I consider you guys part of what really changed my life for the better.
I realize how late I am, but I'm so glad I decided to rewatch the daylight video. I remember finding your music through Shaun White Skateboarding, and Daylight was by far my favorite song from it. In the beginning of 2013, I was 17 and finishing up my senior year of high school. You guys came to Tempe Arizona and did a show at the marquee theater.. it was my first concert ever and the memory still brings a smile to my face. We snuck out of the dorm (I went to boarding school), pre-gamed in the parking lot with cheap 13 dollar bottles of vodka, and went in not really knowing what to expect.. We went fucking insane that night. I remember losing my voice the next day because I was screaming so much. Still the best concert I've ever been too... After graduation, my friends and I sorta went our separate ways. I actually live in Brooklyn now (Park Slope, woo). Sadly my old friends and I don't really keep in touch. Still, the albums Grand and Lightning are so special to me. There's this sense nostalgia attached them. They make me wanna go back to simpler times ~ I wanna call up my friends from high school, get drunk, and dance to Matt and Kim.

I think this might bring a smile. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego and I was offered tickets by a fellow Marine to see both of you in concert in LA in 2011. Having never heard of Matt&Kim I almost didn't go but certainty glad I did. While waiting for the concert to start people asked if I heard of them. Whenever I replied no they were jealous that my first impression was live. Because you two had the best live performances. I grew up with the Phoenix theatre and saw many bands.. AFI, Goldfinger, powerman 5000 and I still haven't seen as much energy since that concert in LA. I never heard any of your music, songs or style so I was taking it all in at once. The first time I saw somebody (Kim) literally have the crowd them upright while they danced and Matt do a one legged stand on the piano? Lol You two tore down the venue and made a lifelong fan. I literally bought your music as opposed to "getting" an artists music. Although I have only seen you live once, I can still remember that performance 6 years after and the raw energy. Your music has helped battle depression and gave me something to listen to while on a jog. Maybe it's the fact you don't conform, or you just like doing it your way. Idk, but I respect it and really appreciate the work you two have done
I've watched content on CZcams for years now and have never commented on a video before. I'm definitely a comment lurker however I consider the both of you my favorite band by far due to the positivity and creativity of your songs. I have nothing but love for "Daylight", the video and song, and you guys. My roommate and I used to watch it all the time because we thought it was a great video and we loved the song so much. Then she got me Grand for Christmas and we listened to it non-stop. It was our go-to for late night dance breaks while studying. You guys are pretty much got us through college and grad school, with most of our sanity intact. :)

It does! It reminds a lot of our midnight trips for snacks, too. In fact, sometimes we'd drive to Wal-Mart just to listen to music and get out of the house and Wal-Mart or McDonald's were all that was open after 10. So, it was honestly the highlight of those trips!

When I first saw that video, I probably watched it 1,000 times, not just because it is an amazing song, but because you guys are so full of joy and life, that it's infectious. You find happiness no matter where you go or what you're doing, even when you visit a creepy abandoned zoo, and that really inspires me. Story time about Daylight on a youth psych ward: When I had to be hospitalized at 13, I was on a ward with a lot of kids who were older than me. that was some scary shit, but there was a piano. Some kids heard me playing Daylight and asked me to teach them. I still remember how excited they got when they saw and heard themselves playing. I spent almost a whole day teaching this girl how to play just the right hand. when she finally got it right she jumped away from the keys like it electrocuted her and yelled in with a mix of disbelief and pride, "SHIT! I DID THAT!"

Most times I can't wait for their set to be done. However, when I saw you guys open for Blink and MCR, I was hooked. You guys had the crowd going crazy, Kim was standing on her drums, there were balloons everywhere. You guys were exciting and energetic and just made everything feel happy. The summer before my freshman year my sister found an iPod on the ground while walking home; there was no name on it or address so she gave it to me. I turned it on and I heard your song Cutdown I loved it so much I started listening to you guys and I realized I love all of your songs. When I need a pick up or some relief you guys are my go to. When I was 17 I made a promise to myself that you guys would be my first concert, and I stuck by it; I skipped out on a couple of other concerts but it was worth it! I have loved ya'lls songs since the beginning. I have been a fan for a very very long time! I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that had me bedridden for months and all the medication I was given to make the pain go away made me loose like 12 kg ( too lazy to find out how many pounds) I didn't have anything to loose besides my muscles. Anyway long story short the last five years have been super tough and the first few years and months of not being able to keep food down, sleep or let alone raise my arms, I started listening to ya'lls music again. I am a dancer and hope to dance again in the future but lying in bed and listening / watching ya'lls videos helped me keep dancing even if it was just my soul booty hopping along side Kim. Yall really brought joy in my life when all I wanted to do was end it!

I knew several of y'all's songs from several years ago but I didn't really listen to them and really start enjoying them until a little less than a year ago. I can't hear 'World is Ending' anymore without crying or becoming very close to after I went to London this summer. I got this really shitty, choppy time lapse of the London Eye and had the track in the background, and now it's one of my favorite songs to listen to just because it makes me think of the best trip I've ever taken in my life. You guys were the first artist that I've liked every song you had and bought every single one of them. In the beginning of 2013, I was 17 and finishing up my senior year of high school. You guys came to Tempe Arizona and did a show at the marquee theater.. it was my first concert ever and the memory still brings a smile to my face. We snuck out of the dorm (I went to boarding school), pre-gamed in the parking lot with cheap 13 dollar bottles of vodka, and went in not really knowing what to expect.. We went fucking insane that night. I remember losing my voice the next day because I was screaming so much. Still the best concert I've ever been too... After graduation, my friends and I sorta went our separate ways. I actually live in Brooklyn now (Park Slope, woo). Sadly my old friends and I don't really keep in touch. Still, the albums Grand and Lightning are so special to me. There's this sense nostalgia attached them. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton in San Diego and I was offered tickets by a fellow Marine to see both of you in concert in LA in 2011. Having never heard of Matt&Kim I almost didn't go but certainty glad I did. While waiting for the concert to start people asked if I heard of them. Whenever I replied no they were jealous that my first impression was live. Because you two had the best live performances. I grew up with the Phoenix theatre and saw many bands.. AFI, Goldfinger, powerman 5000 and I still haven't seen as much energy since that concert in LA. I never heard any of your music, songs or style so I was taking it all in at once. The first time I saw somebody (Kim) literally have the crowd them upright while they danced and Matt do a one legged stand on the piano? Lol You two tore down the venue and made a lifelong fan. I literally bought your music as opposed to "getting" an artists music. Although I have only seen you live once, I can still remember that performance 6 years after and the raw energy. Your music has helped battle depression and gave me something to listen to while on a jog. Maybe it's the fact you don't conform, or you just like doing it your way. Idk, but I respect it and really appreciate the work you two have done
I've watched content on CZcams for years now and have never commented on a video before. I'm definitely a comment lurker however I consider the both of you my favorite band by far due to the positivity and creativity of your songs. I first fell in love with "Daylight" a few years back and since then have listened to your songs honestly probably too much on repeat. I get stupid excited when I hear your songs in the backgrounds of commercials and when you both started these vlogs they became my "must watch first" video. The only band memorabilia I own is a shirt I bought from your site. (The one with the jagged red and black lettering) I hope to see you both live one day as I missed you when I heard you were playing at the university of Iowa a few years ago but until then I just wanted to let you both know that I appreciate all of your content and your candid personalities! Ok so I heard daylight awhile ago and liked it. Had it on my running playlist and listened to it a lot. But last week i decided to investigate your other work. You guys are amazing. Your records are amazing. Your videos are amazing. And you seem like great people who just love making music and uplifting those around you. So thank you. You guys rock and have brightened my day/week/life. I'll see you at the 9:30 Club in May!
