Im so brand new. Ive sold 3 pieces so far (I''m sure I undercharged...but just selling them gave me the confidence to know I can do this). Thanks for all the tips. Love your work AND that it's a family affair!
Your business information is GOLD!! It helped me realize that being disabled (nerve damage) and trying to flip furniture for a living isn't feasible, as I don't think I can process the pieces fast enough (thanks to @#$% fatigue) to meet the end user's schedule. But I CAN do my flipping on gifts for friends and family! And maybe even as a side gig... Me: "Here, it's for YOU! Merry Christmas!" Recipient: "Thank you! LOVE the dresser! But... it's June..." Me: "Remember last Christmas, when I said your present would be a little late?" Recipient, thinking fast: ...did she say that? I want that dresser... I'm SURE she said that! "Yes, I remember! *THANK YEW!!! I love it!"*
Kara this was an excellent video so informative! I’ve never done custom work and honestly have no idea how to price, contract and so forth I learned so much. CZcams needed a video like this great job!!
Hi. You are a great teacher! Lots of great tips. I like how you found a brand/product that works consistently for you. I plan to implement your sandpaper organization system. I have mine in a dollar tree basket in grit order....I like the pegboard idea a bit better😊
Awesome info here, Kara! Thanks for sharing so much of your process (and your workshop!) I love the idea of an initial deposit to get on the calendar. charge 50% at time of signing the contract but that's usually day 1/drop off. An initial deposit would mean less down time to getting started. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! I got stood up 2xs! Made sure it was $50 just to put a name on the calendar after that. I lost about $1400 from those 2 not showing up! So no more w/o deposit
We do dave ramsey too. we've paid off over 700k in debt so far ( 2 of that debt were homes. ) still have a little way to go but so thankful we found Dave a few years ago currently I'm an FPU class now. 2 classes left

I used to have my garage as my work room but after my car was stolen - twice - I have to lock it up. Sounds like the bad part of town but actually live on a golf course in the best part of town. Kara, I cannot believe I found your video it is so informative on how to actually operate a furniture flipping business. I have wanted to start a business for a while but did not know where to start. I have painted many pieces of furniture in mine and my daughter's home.(twice over) so I have experience painting, staining, and top coating. You are a very sweet, down to earth and generous person. I think it is great for you to share with viewers on how to make money especially in this high inflation economy. Thanks for your great advice! Could you please share how to use an orbital sander or scuff sander? I have only sanded by hand and I am afraid to use an electric one and ruin the piece of furniture.

Wow. You certainly gave a lot of info in this video. I personally loved it. I’ve been binge watching you for awhile now and I’m so impressed with what you do. You take pieces that look horrible and make them into pieces that anyone would proud to own. I am getting ready to paint my bedroom furniture and I’m particularly interested in your spray guns. They would cut down on the time I’d have to spend on my pieces. I saw those guns at our harbor freight store for 16.99, are those the guns you use? Thank you for your generosity in explaining very well how you run your business. Good job on getting out of debt.

How much do you think is a reasonable goal for 2 people to earn per month flipping furniture if they work full time at it? Is it reasonable to think they could make $5,000 a month? $7,000? in a middle class area? I know this will vary but just asking for a ballpark.
How do you get and keep your garage temperatures to where you are comfortable in TX heat? I can't stand the heat in mine to even make a work space.. I'm in Austin

I love your vids..I have been making Resin River tables for a few years but the cost for clients is pretty high and I have to charge a pretty high fee to make any money; so I was looking into reworking some furniture. My question is that I bought one of the paint guns like yours at HF. The instructions say you can't use latex paint? Is that true..? Great info in this video! I'm wondering about the compressor. Does it not over heat being fully enclosed? Or does it not turn on that often because of the size?
So when I am filling it, I close the door, after it is full I open it up for a bit. I have not had it overheat but once it is full, it doesn't run very often. Once I have a full coat on, I will open the door while the piece dries. Thanks for being here friends = ) Hope Spring ha sprung in your neck of the woods!
@@LemonstoLemonadeFurniture It has...we're having some nice days now! Appreciate your help! We're starting to research a larger compressor that we can spray with and being in a townhome, noise is a consideration. (Although we have 3 neighbors with comoressors that we hear all the time 😁)

3 weeks from start to finish. I like to let it cure for about 3 days before pick up and I send them with instructions

Very thoroughly 😂! I use most everything water based so in my sink. Take it all apart & let it air dry overnight. Good as new! So glad you are here!

I will have them bring it with the project. It's just easier that way. If I need to fill the holes, I'll charge extra for that. hope that helps!

Oh thanks for alerting me. I took the amount of tax off my invoice as it is specific to TX and it looks like it deleted the line item.
