This video can be educational for recognizing the kinds of signals used in Civil Defense Outdoor Warning System which is sounded ( of course ) by the Warning Sirens :)
1- Pulse - which was simulated in the video ( used for Nuclear Fallout or Early Warning on a certain regions )
2- Wail ( Danger or Attack )
3- Alert A.K.A Steady Tone ( used for early warning or All Clear on a certain regions )
4- High-Low ( Fire Emergency )
Hope you enjoy this video

The tone itself is called High-Low & it signifies fire risk.

The wail gives me the chills. I've heard it for real more times than Id like.
Me to But I Still Love that one
Same as me
I've heard plenty also. The sustained high part is what always creeps me. It echoes an eerie pitch.
@@sstrick500 All our thunderbolt sirens are set for a continuous tone for tornado warnings. They have been that way since the 1970s. The super outbreak in 1974 really spooked a lot of communities into buying sirens.
Continuous tone ... i think you mean *Steady Tone.*
I never knew about the other three sounds, I think the sound the most people hear is the Wail sound because I think its use in the time of tornado and tidal wave warnings and/or get the attention of EMS personal.

I see :)
Glad to know that this video was useful for helping you to let you know of other warning sirens signals :)
Meghan Hause Hilo is to Alert emergency personnel
Meghan Hause its also because of old air raid sirens. They produce the same sound.
I personally got the Alert/steady tone early for my area when there was a tornado about to hit.
We hear alert the most in Indiana. It’s used for early warning for tornadoes.
On the high and low signal you can hear the solenoids moving
wolfy gaming the what?
@@DOGE-rk1sq solenoids are things that control the pitch of the sound of the siren so it can make it sound like its high and low high and low and etc. And also when the Fire department heads this signal. It means that there a fire.
Oof 7765 To explain it *better*, there are two slots on the chopper block, and when the chopper spins, it allows two pitches to come from the chopper. When one of these holes are covered by one of the solenoids, only one hole is left unblocked to produce the sound only out of that one hole.
@@jm-vg4yn oh okay thanks
Thanks
It can also do wailing fire because there's one not far from my house that did the hi-lo wail tone. It's next to the East Windsor Volunteer Fire Department #1 (aka Station 42).
Directly it is called ( Wailing Hi-Low ) or ( Alternate Wail )

Why does the equals sign appears every time when the 1003 siren pulses!?
That's the pulse symbol animation.
There is a country which used that kind of symbol in the past.
Cuz its close to ya
I never knew a Thunderbolt could also do a pulsing effect too. Lean something new every day. Great job mate 👏.

Tornado sirens are my favorite!
I think you're referring to the specified purpose of the warning sirens in your area, but the thing is :
The outdoor warning systems which are officially called "Warning Sirens" can be used for multipurpose such as :
1- Tsunami.
2- Severe Weather.
3- fire risk.
etc ...
So don't be surprised if the sirens in your area can be used for multipurpose :)
I remember the first three alert sirens used in Kuwait during 2003 war with Iraq. Kuwait civil defence would sound the red alert and all clear siren whenever there was an incoming scud missile.
We use 3 signals :
1- Caution ( pulse signal )
2- Danger ( wail signal )
3- All Clear ( Steady signal )
@@aliultimate009 it's the same order we had in Kuwait. Warning alert, red alert or danger and all clear.
I'm from kuwait 😅
It seems i wasn't clear on my explanation to you XP
When i said ( we ) i meant Kuwait X)
@@aliultimate009 I might have not read fully ur comment and it was a mistake, I do apologise. Yes we remember the days of civil defence siren test and during the war, even to this day when ever I hear that siren, it reminds me of the war. I believe civil defence in Kuwait has changed the entire siren system.
That's what i hate 😑
At least if they have installed a Vortex siren it's way better than our new Federal Signal Modulator!
For real!
Our new siren sounds like a firefighters trucks sirens 😂
Sometimes you can't hear it very well in windy weather due to it's tone frequency ( if i put it correctly ) since it doesn't have that wind blasting blower.
The new one i think it is only electric speakers if i'm not mistaken.
The older one - Federal Signal Thunderbolt 7000 Series was a blast when it starts up due to it's strong blower motor at chopper level 4 X)
It gets your attention because it is causing a strong echoes around the buildings not like our failure of a siren Modulator 😑
this is my ultimate favorite video of a thunderbolt
this siren now has a new location. Its still in the same town. it used to be roof mounted at the auditorium. like the thunderbolt i filmed at grissom middle school in tinley park. and the mental health center of tinley park 1003
What town?
The alert one is the one they use for tornado warnings.
TBH, that one is my personal favorite.
Thank you for making it sound realistic.
It’s real
But.. it is real..
But...this is real...
You're welcome 👍
For the repliers :
The sound in video for the pulse is a simulation ( already mentioned in video info ) but the rest of the tones are the actual sounds of the original video.

Hi Lo is my favorite😀

I don’t understand why they would need a fire emergency signal when they have fire trucks that do the same thing... is it for big wildfires?
You just answered it :)
Also some sirens are automatically connected ( i think ) to a smoke detector which enables it to go off in case of a certain risk of fire :)
Ngaomi Taiaroa Same
Must Agree!👍
Heres a better example, The horn hole has two holes in side, if you take off the horn youll see them the two rectangles are pistons with rods th3 c9ntroll panel "Timer" tell the pistons to cover the TOP hole to create the HI sound, then after about 1 second the TIMER tell that piaton to release so the other piston can cover the BOTTOM hole. Then it reapets to creat the HI LO Sound 3:25
I thought the yeow was bad but pulse is definitely at the top of my "nope" list.
Most countries, pulse was actually warning alert.
Never knew they had a pulse.
Not exactly this model of thunderbolt ( if i'm not mistaken ) but there are models which does have pulse signal :)
Well.. It can do pulse if you wire the solenoids correctly so they both activate at the same time instead of them alternating.
That is a neighborhood alarm clock.
@@jeffreyhueseman7061 A neighborhood alarm clock?! That's a good one Jeffrey!
Federal Signal Thunderbolt is a civil defense outdoor warning system which isn't only made for tornadoes - it is made for any civilian threats :)
About pulse signal - it is also possible with 7000 series thunderbolts.
it's like the boxes at the end are solenoids inside are pistons that push one then the other one making hi low signal
Bendy and the Machine That’s how it works.
Apparently some of these or combos of are really rare to be heard on Thunderbolts
I think thats mainly pulse, ive only ever seen 1 other thunderbolt do a pulse signal
Is each siren for something in particular or is it by Region? I’ve never heard any of them in my life. Only in movies
Warning Sirens are a civil defense electronics or mechanical outdoor warning systems which are used for any human threats such as :
1- Tornado.
2- Severe Thunderstorms.
3- Tsunami.
4- Fire call.
and etc.
each siren has a certain specified signals or tones which are used to indicate a certain notification or threat by sound or voice ( depending on the type and model )
It is recommended to read & learn what each signal or tones means - which are sounded by the warning sirens to be prepared, and follow the safety precautions & instructions.
About regions - yes - because there are a certain regions around the world which uses a certain tones or signals from the warning sirens for a different purposes.
The still active use of the siren horns, in general, is also regionally specific. In eastern Maryland, they're still a fixture of everything from weekly testing to EMS alerts to severe weather warnings. I've heard them used (up through this week) in southern Baltimore, on the UMD College Park campus, on the Washington College campus in Chestertown, as well as in Cambridge, Salisbury, Pocomoke, and Ocean City.
How does the pulse work and the hi-lo
One word:
Solenoids.
What do they use pulse signal for?
Risk is eminent ( early warning or alert ) in some regions or used for nuclear meltdown.
I Love high low
So much
I like the high low sounds like music and it’s not that loud
It can.
Maybe the high low sounds like a fire truck siren

Wail and high and low are my fav
What does Pulse Signal means?
What’s the pulse signal used for?
Eminent Danger in some regions or nuclear meltdown.
I like this video it is so devastating!
There was a earthquake which we had faced a few months ago....It lasted for a longer duration and what I did to warn the people was that I went to the roof and connnected this same siren video with the bluetooth speaker and played the siren signal in full volume.....All were alerted and ran outdoors for safety
Good way to use it 👍
But it's better to download the audio so that you can use it without internet 👍

How many tones does the thunderbolt have?
+Derek Imler
I think about 5.
Raquel G Javier
As i know it can do those if my list is complete.
1- Steady.
2- Wail.
3- High low.
4- Fast Wail.
5- Wailing high low.
There are other possible once :
6- Pulse ( it is possible in T1003 if you customized it )
7- Wailing pulse ( i'm sure it is possible with a certain customisation - honestly i don't know if that tone is even a thing )
The pulse signal in this video is by default possible with T1000 7000 Series but it was a pulse tone simulation in this video by using a T1003 clip which is why i made the title - Thunderbolt - without adding - T1003 or T1000 - in the title.
As many as possible providing the control panel is able to create the signal. Earlier controls used code wheels and relays so they would be restricted to what they were built with. But if someone built their own control panel that stored or recieved digital data that operated a sequence of relays through something like an Arduino, it would be possible to program it to produce any signal possible.
1:45 to 3:35 how I Wake up every Saturday and Wednesday morning Because I hear these two tones every single morning + I love Highlow so I don’t get annoyed by high low coz I have a 3t22 and a 2001 130 next to my home
I love hi lo too
Ours here dont pulse or wail up and down they just have an alert tone!
That was before we had cell phone. and now we can get weather alerts on your phone but for people who don’t have phone it good they have sirens for people they need to make sure they test those sirens every mouth to make sure it works right
Sometimes they forget their phones in silent mode or in charger or etc.
Remember that warning sirens are made for any civilian threats so sometimes if it is a warning for a fire risk or tsunami - you can be informed by other sirens which has a speaker 👍
Why is this sound so satisfying?
Love to thunderbolts!!

What is pulse used for?
Nuclear meltdown & is used as an early warning tone in other regions.
What's the point of the pulse signal?

What causes the siren to fall quiet quickly when shutting down
Ares
I think it is the Solenoid shutting the wind from the pipe or tunnel which causes immediate silence.
aliultimate009 Oh ok
The blower at the base of the unit is on a time-delay relay set to stay on after the chopper is de-energized. This one is set short. They can be set to blow until the chopper reaches a dead stop if desired.
