      If you buy the "Road to IELTS" online course, the course that is offered by the British Council, you will see that the examiner says that "The final paragraph should have one or two lines stating the overall trend or aspects of the graph. You will get a low mark if you don't do this". So, yes, do it.

    Hi Emma, your classes are fantastic and very helpful! Thank you for making and publishing them. There is one remark that I would like to highlight: I think amongst the charts the one that was labelled "flow chart" is actually an "org chart", short for "organisation chart". The flowchart is, as you describe it, a diagram that shows how a process is organised therefore it has arrows pointing from one action to other actions or decision points. This is based on my experience at a multinational company. And thanks again for the video. It is great!

      +Sunshine Padillo My teacher said that if you wrote enough 250 words, you needn't write the conclusion; however if it wasn't enough, you should write the conclusion to have adequate words. Conclusion is an optional part, you can make it it to emphazie, highlight an interesting characteristic of the graph, and make your witing become better.

    • @pholybaker8894
      @pholybaker8894 Před 6 lety +2

      In my opinion, there are two things that comes to mind when she said conclusion, it does not literarily mean drawing inferences. Firstly, It seems to me she implied. Using an adjective as a roadmap to let the examiner know, this is your last point. e.g. Using words like "In conclusion' 'On a final note' Finally' and so on. Secondly, I think she meant summarizing all of the points mentioned in the body not as an inference, but as a summary that could stand alone to describe what you saw. In essence, no conclusion for task 1, just a pointer that you are finalizing the report, so as not end your report abruptly, which is a sign of bad reporting.

    Hi Emma , thanks a lot , I hope I can find an answer for something confusing me , on the same website of engvid I watched a v lesson by Adam he stressed the idea that Task 1 writing has no conclusion or any sort of giving an opinion , even in the quiz he put a question to emphasize that , cautioning test takers that conclusion may cause loss of marks
    While you are telling us that conclusion is an essential part of Task 1
    I suppose that your website is one integrated curriculum !
    and this is an important point to plan our answer
    Thanks in advance and waiting for your kind reply

    • @OCMonke
      @OCMonke Před 8 lety +1

      +Lola Olala Depends, preparation for rules only. Rest is experience! :) Practice more talking to your friends about random topics for speaking test but don't memorize answers, the examiner knows that. Heads up, the examiner changes the topic frequently, i noticed that. Anyone has the chance to get Band 7 but experience, effort, practice! :) GOOD LUCK! Tell me how it goes.

    • @wellingtondosanjos4784
      @wellingtondosanjos4784 Před 8 lety +1

      +jasmine rose Raju Usually, writing task 1 is to describe something. I was taught that 'conclusion' it is only if they ask you to analyse, or if there is a question on writing task 1. If they don't, you will finish your essay with a body paragraph, not necessarily with a conclusion.
      If I'm wrong, please, correct me... Because my IELTS is in 04 days. :P

    she's wrong on a couple of points. first of all, we don't get marked on writing a conclusion in task 1 as we are not required to write one. However, we must write an overview, or otherwise known as the overall statement. Conclusion is a term we use in order to offer ones opinion which is definitely not a requirement of a task 1 report.
    also, i wouldn't recommend using the word 'bar graph'. although it's not technically wrong, it is, however, an american term which is not ideal when writing for a British English test.
