Uh oh, Deimos is tracking me
I was part of the NCO’s who tested this within PEO soldier at the asymmetric warfare group compound. This drone actually performed poorly against all the other drones I tested and created parameters for. The only reason the US Army ended up buying this was because it was the better of the two drones that were submitted for trials with the government procurement. It actually wasn’t even suppose to continue in the trails because we didn’t have the minimum of 4 required to complete it.
What were the other drones tested
tbh a 1-2 inch FPV drone would be alot more suitable than these hornets in my opinion
@@Magicman2727 officially the “Snipe Nano” by Aero Environment. Unofficially, I was given a credit card and told to go to Best Buy and purchase every COS drone with every accessory possible. We ended up buying 5 of every drone. The total purchase came out to around $30k or so.
for sure one mavic above the trenches would be a lot more effective and infomative
Thank you for the info. In your own experience what drone performs better in a similar role?

FLIR capability is actually crazy one. Imagine how it could highlight concealed targets in a matter of seconds.
combined with AR goggles to see through solid objects via multi angle FLIR cameras on microdrones projecting in 3d
Yeah there's tons of drones that have FLIR and can also drop grenades. So this drone is probably going to not only cost more than those other drones but will also have less capabilities.
@@HypeBeast764 Those drones are also louder, bigger, and less manuverable.
FLIR is the reason the US will never ever fight against a near-tier enemy such as Russia or China on a land-based battlefield. They are unwilling to withstand the personnel losses that occur when their enemy can see them in the pitch-black darkness of night behind thick foliage from 2km away (or more). The US and its allies will only ever engage in a land-based conflict with poverty-stricken nations who have little to zero access to FLIR technlogy and who also have zero ability to achieve air superiority. Even Desert Storm in the early 90s was a big gamble, and Iraq barely had any access to the search-and-destroy technologies the US and its allies had at the time. The last time the US went up against a near-tier enemy was in 1945...
@@BrickedWall Stop lying. You can have drones equipped with explosives that are quiet enough. Quiet enough to stalk soldiers in the middle of the night at a distance of 20 feet.
This tiny drone from FLIR is ancient tech. It would only make sense for small groups of special forces for quick recon/overview.
I used the previous one as a civilian contractor, great tool on the field.
What for did you use it in civilian use?

War is always a dystopian hellscape.
$195,000 for the original version or like less then $2000 for a home built fpv or like 8-10k for a quadcopter able to use a dlsr, that shit better get me my coffee rub my feet and give me a handy
None of those compare to this in its niche. It clearly needs specific specs for that niche. I don't think any quadcopter, no matter the size, can do it as well. If you look at how they're using it in this video and how this style of drone has been used in war.
@@skyworm8006The spec ops need countermeasures against drones. Not these tiny expensive things. Hello, dude, we are living in a world where there are drones isn't exclusive things even for barefoot fighters with a rusty AK in their hands
exactly, drones are meant to be disposable because of the counters available to militaries

This scary shit, I don't want to be a on battlefield with drones.
too bad
Ukrainian do it everyday, we used this drone, this is amazing item
They're also working on a version that can hold a single 357 magnum cartridge, and detonate point blank, if a high priority target is spotted.
I mean, if you want to engage targets with a drone, you shouldn't be using sth like this. You'd want a much bigger drone that can fly around fast with an AR15 mount. At the moment, they're not very worthwhile because if you're engaging targets then they are aware of the drone and that's bad because:
a) To shoot you need to stay stationary, which gives the enemy ample time to shoot it down.
b) It would then have to move around constantly to avoid being shot down, but would pay for it with much lower accuracy, and for a device that would barely hold 60 rounds, it's not going to be of much help.
Also, these would be worth hundreds of dollars which is way too expensive for a risky elimination. It's not that incognito, it's just hard to spot if you're fighting others and your focus is somewhere else. It's still quite easy to see close range.
@a.c.e7407 ...The problem with any drone that carriers a large weapon is that it's also very large and very loud. This little guy is designed so it can literally fly inside buildings, and it is quiet enough that you can not hear it until it's right on top of you. It's a surveillance drone, which will be given the ability to attack and eliminate a single high priority target if discovered. The cost is well worth it when you can take out a division commander visiting his troops or in a meeting near the battlefield.
micro kamikaze drone? i feel like i've seen something like that but i forgot where
@@AntonDVasiliev-ss1ie Yeah i would think maybe a tiny grenade or something

A drone operator is the new doctrine. In fact, it has always been normal to have someone outside of direct combat to make calls. To let your ego get in the way of strategy will only result in death.
Already got these, they’re pretty neat, great for room and trench clearing.
Damn. Once the battery life improves to a certain point, hundreds of these things will just be constantly loitering over the battlefield in swarms. Are we going to see lil mini anti-drone drones soon?
Like a flock of explosive starlings.
It's too expensive for a swarm like that. I get that it will be overkill on the field and just kamikaze its way to enemy operators, but that's a few dozen Ks. If you take out everything besides a camera for locking to targets, it's still quite expensive and with its size it's not going to be able to carry any lethal payload either.
If you're going to use swarms of drones to engage targets, then just make bigger drones with mounted guns, and have them just fly over enemies to shoot them down, and since there're many of them they won't get a chance to stand and shoot them down.
i mean 30 minutes a battery is in comparison to fpv drones a lot.
The sound emitted by that drone is damn good
I remember seeing the first one and how magical it felt.
What is SR publicly flying?
bro this is literly like one of those small recon drones in advanced warfare where i though that would only be sci fi but damn you guys made it real
They gave this thing a video game trailer for an ad, but thinking back to how this would have looked some year ago, it deserves one.
Looks like a awesome technological advanced RC helicopter. Cool 😎😊♥️
It is hehe.
Anybody with some experience of flying should immediately think what windy conditions would do to it
It can fly in winds up to 25 knots, and its a small drone meant to be low to the ground, not like a bigger drone where the concealment factor is only able to be used by hiding in clouds.
You mean the 25kt wind resistance?
I think he missed the part about the 25 knots wind resistance, in case others haven't pointed it out
Or a tennis racket. Or a bunch of threads shot out of a shotgun. &c

Honestly if you can increase its flight time and range then that would be the perfect covert uav
Having something like this in a videogame would be powerful. Now imagine real life wars... i see you but you cant see me 😰
There's something similar in Sniper Ghost Warrior 3. It doesn't look anywhere near the same, but the same concept. A recon drone. Hell, I guess Star Wars Battlefront had this with the sniper class's scout drone.
am i allowed to attach an rpg projectile to this?

@@caroluslexator I mean dji… they probably got better specs (besides thermal) jn a mini 4 pro body they sell to civilians. It’s just an american company that makes it expensive.
@@caroluslexator unfortunately it is not “quality” . You need to understand, that if a 6 year old can break it- then a 26 year old SEAL can too . Crap like this is cool in concept. However real world missions need tools that are not prone to failure. They’re just too delicate for the mission they are supposed to operate in. Look at the specs for wind alone.

It did help us while assaulting a quite big building, where russians were shotting from. Well, for buildings is quite nice. And forest. On fields never seen a reason to use it since we always had one or two mavics above us.
Realistic range is 2 km , so short range. Perhaps uncle sam willing to pay 200k, but no one else would. Also will lose them during normal use like any drone. most militaries would want larger drones with longer range, that can drop grenades.
Well the UK and france use them, with the UK spending 20 million for about 200 of them. So there is clearly a use for them.
If this can save a soldier's life it's worth it. It costs more than $200K to train a new soldier!

Spoken to several guys who have used them. They did not have positive comments. Most common complaint was that any wond at all made them useless
Well, wond is pretty deadly.
My favorite Nicolas Cage movie is Wondtalkers.
I do not how the reception is in concrete or steel construction, if great it could also be used for confined rescue and confined work areas
For humanitarian missions like search and rescue, I think this might be easier. Could just have some signal relay point or another drone that maybe can be used as relay or booster.
It's an encrypted 5Ghz transitter running at high power for short periods, so it'll go through walls okay-ish up to about 100m - Their claim of 2km is for open fields only...

It's running a 2,500mAh pouch cell to power an $2,000USD FLIR camera (Model: COIN612/R - available from a company called 'Global Sensor Technology'). The asking price on this thing is approximately 8,000-10,000% (80-100x) mark-up... They charge what they do because the DoD can write blank cheques. I guarantee you that a Chinese manufacturer could achieve 80% of it's capabilities at 1/50th the cost. There's nothing in this thing that can't be achieved with a soldering iron and around $2,000 USD budget for a FLIR camera and encrypted 5gHz transmission tech. I've seen the prior two models up close in person, and as an RC person with a lot of experience with such kit, it ain't impressing me. Even the horizon-levelling tech in the video feed was done by Parrot back in 2014 with the Bebop drone via clever XYZ gyroscope/accelerometer feedback programming and a fisheye lens. The DJI Avata uses exactly the same tech to provide a horizon-levelled video feed without the need of a 3-axis gimbal.
I think it’s a great product but unsure about the 30 mins fly time; seems a bit short
It's going to be used for CQB mostly mate. If you're outside in the open, people will just use UAVs.
How does he cope with electronic warfare?
Awesome advert
ok, now put a sharp spike on the front and call it Hunter-seeker drone
You should develop a new model whereby it could be mounted on a soldier's helmet/squad/team/5 men and it's deployed L>R forward 15-50 metres equally spaced with variable altitudes covering 230 degrees/panoramic view with the peripheral visions/50 degrees to the team wearing VR googles simultaneously wi-fi linked to the weapon platform/assault rifles for range/pin point accuracy shooting/red dot holographic sight in jungle/forest/urban environment.
