    I was part of the NCO’s who tested this within PEO soldier at the asymmetric warfare group compound. This drone actually performed poorly against all the other drones I tested and created parameters for. The only reason the US Army ended up buying this was because it was the better of the two drones that were submitted for trials with the government procurement. It actually wasn’t even suppose to continue in the trails because we didn’t have the minimum of 4 required to complete it.

      FLIR is the reason the US will never ever fight against a near-tier enemy such as Russia or China on a land-based battlefield. They are unwilling to withstand the personnel losses that occur when their enemy can see them in the pitch-black darkness of night behind thick foliage from 2km away (or more). The US and its allies will only ever engage in a land-based conflict with poverty-stricken nations who have little to zero access to FLIR technlogy and who also have zero ability to achieve air superiority. Even Desert Storm in the early 90s was a big gamble, and Iraq barely had any access to the search-and-destroy technologies the US and its allies had at the time. • @a.c.e7407
      @a.c.e7407 Před 24 dny +1

      I mean, if you want to engage targets with a drone, you shouldn't be using sth like this. You'd want a much bigger drone that can fly around fast with an AR15 mount. At the moment, they're not very worthwhile because if you're engaging targets then they are aware of the drone and that's bad because:
      a) To shoot you need to stay stationary, which gives the enemy ample time to shoot it down.
      b) It would then have to move around constantly to avoid being shot down, but would pay for it with much lower accuracy, and for a device that would barely hold 60 rounds, it's not going to be of much help.
      Also, these would be worth hundreds of dollars which is way too expensive for a risky elimination. It's not that incognito, it's just hard to spot if you're fighting others and your focus is somewhere else. It's still quite easy to see close range.

    • @Condor1970
      @Condor1970 Před 24 dny +9

      @a.c.e7407 ...The problem with any drone that carriers a large weapon is that it's also very large and very loud. This little guy is designed so it can literally fly inside buildings, and it is quiet enough that you can not hear it until it's right on top of you. It's a surveillance drone, which will be given the ability to attack and eliminate a single high priority target if discovered. The cost is well worth it when you can take out a division commander visiting his troops or in a meeting near the battlefield.

      It's too expensive for a swarm like that. I get that it will be overkill on the field and just kamikaze its way to enemy operators, but that's a few dozen Ks. If you take out everything besides a camera for locking to targets, it's still quite expensive and with its size it's not going to be able to carry any lethal payload either.
      If you're going to use swarms of drones to engage targets, then just make bigger drones with mounted guns, and have them just fly over enemies to shoot them down, and since there're many of them they won't get a chance to stand and shoot them down.

    secondary drone required for jammers. aux vehicles could be blow by other fpv drones costing 400.00 certainly that excavator would be brought down by an fpv drone. range needs to be 20x that to compete with DIY's.

      It's running a 2,500mAh pouch cell to power an $2,000USD FLIR camera (Model: COIN612/R - available from a company called 'Global Sensor Technology'). The asking price on this thing is approximately 8,000-10,000% (80-100x) mark-up... They charge what they do because the DoD can write blank cheques. I guarantee you that a Chinese manufacturer could achieve 80% of it's capabilities at 1/50th the cost. There's nothing in this thing that can't be achieved with a soldering iron and around $2,000 USD budget for a FLIR camera and encrypted 5gHz transmission tech. I've seen the prior two models up close in person, and as an RC person with a lot of experience with such kit, it ain't impressing me. Even the horizon-levelling tech in the video feed was done by Parrot back in 2014 with the Bebop drone via clever XYZ gyroscope/accelerometer feedback programming and a fisheye lens. The DJI Avata uses exactly the same tech to provide a horizon-levelled video feed without the need of a 3-axis gimbal.

    You should develop a new model whereby it could be mounted on a soldier's helmet/squad/team/5 men and it's deployed L>R forward 15-50 metres equally spaced with variable altitudes covering 230 degrees/panoramic view with the peripheral visions/50 degrees to the team wearing VR googles simultaneously wi-fi linked to the weapon platform/assault rifles for range/pin point accuracy shooting/red dot holographic sight in jungle/forest/urban environment.
