I just got back from a steep hike and realized I’m not so balanced as I’ve gotten older. I just started looking at trekking poles. Thanks for your insight

For day hiking I'm always grabbing my fifty-year old hiking stick. When I was doing backpacking and carrying a load, I'd say the trekking poles are best. The hiking stick can be used with two hands on steep terrain and allows you to put weight on it - can't do that with trekkers. The hiking stick also can be used to help you do a short vault over the water during a very small stream crossing. The heft of a hiking stick also provides a bit of security if ever threatened by stray dogs, or worse.

Trekking pole tents don't come with the poles. They expect you to have your own already. Very nice video tho.
