THE mother of a transgender daughter refuses to let internet trolls get in the way of her affirming and supporting her child with love. Eight-year-old Ella, of Ontario, Canada, transitioned when she was six years old and felt ‘happy’ when she became Ella. She said: “I just felt more me.” Her mum, Nikki, has supported her child through her transition and started an Instagram page to create a space for parents of transgender children. Unfortunately, this led to nasty comments and messages including ones calling her a ‘groomer’. But Nikki won’t let this judgement push her out of the space where she’s needed. Today, Nikki has organised a party for the family to celebrate Ella’s gender. Nikki told Truly: “It’s her superpower, she’s loud and proud and trans is just beautiful to her.”

In my own personal experience being an 80s baby (thank god), my sister looked, dressed and acted like a dude until 18 when we hit the nightclubs.
All her life she hated all "girl" things, and was just one of the boys, she wore boys clothes & we all assumed she was going to be a butch lesbian as that's what she resembled.
Surprise, she's almost 40 with a child and husband & is very much a woman who has more masculine traits.
She was a tom boy, no one made a big deal over what she looked like or how she presented because who cares, she was a kid.
No one interfered or told her she must be the opposite gender & she turned out the she was supposed to be.
I see what's happening to other kids that are less like her and their whole identity is hijacked by well meaning but clearly mental adults & it's insane to me.
Same here. As a little girl, I hated dolls, dresses, tea parties, et... and preferred to play with my brother's GI Joe. At 22 I joined the Army, graduated officer candidate school, and became a helicopter pilot. Back then, girls like me were called "tomboys"... but nobody rushed me off to a gender clinic or encouraged the delusion that I was really a boy. I am all woman - happily married and blessed to have enjoyed a great career and a life of adventure.
Please don't label your child as "trans" just because they don't fit the mold. Just let your kids be kids.

I hope conservative parents of trans youths saw that Fox News Pro=Trans segment and remembered the words "I'd rather have a living son than a dead daughter" and reconsidered how they approached their child. So amazingly thankful that Ryland has such an amazing family that so openly supports and loves him because all LGBTQ+ youths deserve a home like that.
It’s awful that some states are trying to “investigate” parents who let their kids transition when quite literally forcing them into their assigned gender or not letting them transition is putting them in harms way, and therefore abuse.
By that logic a person born same-sex attracted should just live with it and not act on it and accept that they can’t do anything to make themselves happier. They should just learn to fit the status quo and act straight. A person who has depression should likewise not get treatment and just learn to live with depression too I suppose.
The protocol in regards to minors diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria is significantly stricter than adults. The child must be consistent with their feelings and show genuine distress for no less than six months, usually much longer. The only advanced treatment aside from therapy and counseling a minor can get is puberty suppressants, which actually make perfect sense. Puberty is a permanent change and causes often irreparable harm to a transgender individual, so why not prevent that harm by suppressing puberty, and letting the person make a proper decision as they get older?

Oh man, when I was young I wanted to be a boy sooo bad. I used to beg my parents to let me be a boy. Than I hit 12 and ever since I have been completely happy being a female. I couldn’t imagine if my parents had listened to me and I transitioned.
God bless your parents for leading you down the right path. I say that if people would just learn to accept and embrace the gender that God made them to be they would be a lot happier. I was a tomboy growing up and at 42 I'm still a tomboy that has been happily married to my husband for over 24 years.

Social transition done with a team of specialists is responsible and ethical care. Gender diversity professionals and physicians are offering services that are evidence-based. With all due respect, I wonder what scientific basis your opinion is build on. This mother seems to have done exactly what her child needed. And she has the courage to be public to destigmatize the reality of gender diversity in children for other parents living through the sane situation and to help educate others.

Let me tell you a true story about child transition that a psychiatrist friend of the family told us:
A family checked in with her because their 5 years old son started to act like a girl and also wished to become one - they needed psychiatric evaluation to start the transition process.
During evaluation, it turned out that they just had their second child, a baby girl. As a newborn she needed almost all the attention of the mother and the boy was jealous. He thought his parents love her sister more only because she's a girl, so he wished to be a girl.
Therapy solved the entire issue. Now imagine if they started conversion for him.
What if the trans kid is the only kid in the family? Obviously, the kid you mentioned isn't Trans.

I think that's what happened with NBA star Dwyane Wade's son Zion. Wade had two sons and a nephew he raised. He also left his wife, the boys' mother, and took up with Gabrielle Union. When Zion was about 12, Dwyane and Gabrielle had a daughter by surrogate. After that, Zion announced he was trans. He is now 16 and considers himself a voice for girls.

It's so hard not to question this mother's patenting skills. As a female child, I refused wearing dresses and playing with dolls when I was 6. My mom simply let me wear sweatshirts and jeans. Don't force your kids into long term decisions.

She said she's a girl and hasn't switched back and forth. A parents job is to listen to what a child feels and help them process it. If she always says she is a girl there is no harm in a social transaction to "female". The parents clearly going to use puberty blockers later on to let her decide as an adult what she needs to do. Happy child is more important then generational trauma.

I was a full-blown tomboy as a child. I preferred bugs, lizards, toy trucks and bigwheels to dolls and easy bake ovens. I liked boy clothes better. At 12 my mom signed me up for charm school and sewing classes. I still preferred lizards over dolls, but now I could sew, and shape my eyebrows. Eventually at 16 I became boy crazy and am now, years later, happy in a long relationship with my highschool sweetheart (who is male). I'm still really good at catching lizards though.🦎
Exact same with my daughter. We have 4 boys and then 4 girls. Our first girl is a complete tomboy. She has 4 older brother's. Doesnt do the typical girly things at all. Has no desire. Wears boys basketball shorts and plain tee shirts. Not one time did we take that to mean she needs to hear stuff about different pronouns or ask her if she didnt feel like a girl. She IS a girl. She is now a teen and is perfectly happy and has had some crushes. This whole thing is getting so ridiculous. Its like parents are creating mental illness and making life harder for their kids. Not sure why liking things that aren't considered "traditional" means you need to explore different genders. Parents like this say that there shouldn't be boy or girl toys/colors so why do they think if the don't like the traditional things it means they are a different gender. Make it make sense.

Just took a look at her Instagram account, so she confirmed that her son wanted to become a girl just by one incident only? Where he met "Cinderella" and was screaming in joy after meeting her? Who doesn't love Cinderella? My brother watched all the Disney cartoons as well, did that mean he wanted to become a girl?

I am a trans woman and I recognized that I was trans at the age of 6 y/o. But, I am so very happy that my parents did not and would not have allowed me to pursue my transitioning as a child. Children need room to be allowed to just be children and not their sexual identity. Parents will need to learn to be parents and supporting their children with yes(s) and no(s). Professionals need to stop leading parents in this direction as it is harmful.

This is a HEAVY decision to make for someone else, even if it is for your child. Just in the past three weeks I have seen so many videos of many transitioning back to what they were born as. Their hearts are broken because they wished that their parents & elders didn't let them transition so early, a few even had bottom surgery. I feel for people who aren't able to make this decision AFTER their brain is developed enough to know the full gravity of it all.
No they did not get bottom surgery. I’ve know since I was twelve and I can’t even get top surgery at 17. People do transition back, yes. But social transitioning is never irreversible. Do your research for once instead of going “muh Bible” or “muh trump” or “muh America” or whatever you’re trying to do. Maybe talk to actual trans people. This is wild to me. I have NO problem with LGBTQ ect ect! My brother is my everything, he has a husband aka my brother in law but this is WAY to young. I have three children, my son likes to play dolls with my daughter and used to like to get his nails painted when I'd do my oldest daughters and I can promise you he's not transgender. However when he's OLDER and understands things HIMSELF and not what I as his mother or my husband his father tells him then okay. As a trans teen (ftm), I have to say what this parent is doing is messed up. Children that young can't know that they're trans. It's like these parents can't understand that it's possible for a boy to be feminine or a girl to be masculine. Just because your son is feminine doesn't mean he's trans. Being transgender is based off of gender dysphoria, and a kid that young is still developing you can't have gender dysphoria when you're that young, it's just not how things work.
Fair enough, I don't remember Trans feelings at that age, I just played with boy toys and watched whatever was at that time on Minimax.
I have no problem with what a grown man or woman does to their body. My issue is with why you would let kids make such important decisions like their ducking gender. We don't let kids drink, drive cars or file taxes. But when it comes to a life altering, life long decision like transitioning it's okay? All I am saying is why not wait till they're grown?
Exactly, particularly when "transitioning" will probably include Ella taking pubertal blockers as a pre-teen/teenager. The effects will be irreversible by the time she hits 20. We are NOT paying attention to critical studies already done on this issue.

Ya know, at one point, I used to love to come to this channel to see something bizarre or learn something new about someone but at this point, there is an agenda here and we clearly have no say in it. It has become strictly about gender subjects and transitioning. I want to learn and understand this stuff but involving kids is where I draw the line. There is a pattern of consistent uploads ONLY concerning these subjects and then a little random one or two video that is different. I wish you guys well moving forward.
Definitely, it used to be a lot more about genetics, people living after accidents, having crazy hobbies or strange pets. Now it's just dating and wierd sexual stuff and kids being transgender.

How you know this parent isn’t responsible is because her 6 y/o can wear foundation. Most responsible parents don’t allow children (of any orientation) to wear makeup before a much older age, usually in the teens. Females are usually in high school before wearing foundation. Age 6 is insane.

Wow 👌 FYI some people just really like makeup. I loved it growing up and hate it now. There is nothing wrong with teaching ur child makeup. If they like it then at least teach them the correct way to wear it.
I disagree completely, maybe kids under around 10 aren’t wearing makeup very often, but they definitely are experimenting with it or wearing it for special occasions sometimes etc. From what I’ve seen, most kids own at least some makeup from around 7 or 8, sometimes younger, especially if it’s just something like lip gloss

I'm sorry but Nikki is nuts! I don't blame whomever that anonymous writer was to have CPS called on her as this is NOT HEALTHY for a boy so young to worry about gender pronouns and waving a Trans Flag in his room! This is coming from someone that hates wearing boy clothes at an early age and quietly saying "I hate god" in a soft tone voice when my mother & I were shopping at Walmart back when I was 9 or so as I so wanted to try the dresses and colorful princess t-shirts that were gown-like as they look more peaceful and childlike as I've been that way growing up. I even remembered trying my mom's old heels around the house when she was paying her bills in the kitchen but was just role playing as a woman as that's natural & normal for a young 7 year-old me to fantasize about at the time. Now 2 decades later, I'm relieved my mother didn't encourage me to try girl clothes even though I still like to dress colorful by wearing beanies and long socks along scarfs but can't imagine seeing myself wearing dresses since I'm not Trans and more androgynous.
It worries me how boys his age are pressured to learn about this pride stuff and being pressured to be the opposite gender just because they're comfortable dressing like a girl as it's part of growing up and trying new things. Kids know absolutely nothing about the world at this age. They are very inexperienced in abstract thinking, let alone logical thinking. Not only that, but their thoughts and beliefs are influenced by a very small circle, namely their teachers, their family, and their friends. There is no understanding of the world beyond their physical experiences and how their close circle influence them. These procedures simply shouldn't be happening at all when children are involved.
My brother used to wear my clothes and my mom's wig, played with my dolls...imagine if my parents made him transition 😮😮😮😮...it's frequently little boys transitioning and not the other way around?
Actually it's more frequently girls, especially as they near puberty. Thank God I was a tom boy in the 90s! I wanted to be a boy too, I didn't want to have to wear my shirt and I only played rough with the boys. Thank God I didn't have parents like this because I most DEFINITELY am a WOMAN!! There was nothing wrong with me at all just because I hated dresses and Barbies and loved the color blue and climbing trees.
