- In this video, I'll be unveiling the beautiful and scenic Kashmir of Kazakhstan. This stunning region is known for its towering peaks and stark landscapes, and we'll be exploring it in depth in this video.
It would be appropriate to call Shymbulak, the Kashmir of Kazakhstan. Yes, it did remind me of Gulmarg, which is again a ski resort in Kashmir where there's a similar cable car ride.
Shymbulak is in the Tien Shan Mountains, near Almaty, Kazakhstan, approximately 30 minutes by car. It's the largest ski resort in Central Asia and has a vertical descent of 943 meters (3,094 feet). It's a 4.5-kilometer cable car ride from Medeu to the top, which approximately takes about 25 minutes.
The cable car ride costed just about Rs.630/- (3500 KZT) for both ways, which is quite reasonable even for a foreigner. A one-way ride costs about Rs.360/- (2000 KZT). If you're someone on a budget, you can take a shuttle bus, which is Rs.90/- (500 KZT) one way.
There are two options to reach Shymbulak: a public bus or a taxi. Bus No. 12 from Almaty 2 Train Station via Dostyk Avenue is the cheapest option available every 20 minutes for Rs.27/- (150 KZT). The bus service is available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. The ticket can be purchased on the bus by paying cash.
The second option is to book a cab on Yandex Go, which would cost about Rs.540/- (3000 KZT), one way.
By the end of the video, you'll have a better understanding of the Kashmir of Kazakhstan and why it's such a popular tourist destination. It's well worth a visit!

It will be really cold in February but there are high chances of experiencing snow in Shymbulak. Get winter clothes and you'll be good.
