The original Touaregs are probably one of the most capable factory off-roaders that nobody really thinks of. 2 speed T-case, Air suspension/adjustable ride height, lockers, sway bar disconnects. Really cool trucks, just hampered because VW had serious reliability problems in the mid 00's. And before anyone comments, I can say that with authority because I've owned, and still own too many VWs, lol.
Mad respect! I love seeing cars at the badlands that aren't jeeps/toyotas
The Touareg is truly impressive!
I love mine.
Impressive, just amazing!!
Super cool Touareg! 10 billion likes🤩
I have one ,2012 Touareg TDI V6 ,it’s a BEAST!
That Touareg has seen more off-road than 90% of jeeps
And lifted trucks too
@@ericksanchez7787 yeah most now are for looks, 20 years ago lifted trucks where beat to hell 😂
Yup. Alot of pavement princesses out there.
The tyres are obviously bigger than they should be on this car. Good job, though, the guy is insane! :D I love Tuareg 2 and can’t wait to buy one! 🥰
Yeah, it looks great.. nice job!
Love it. I have a stock 2012 Touareg TDI. I’ve taken it to the local off road park and was quite impressed. But what you’re able to do once it’s lifted with some good tires is insane. Nice video.
How is the reliability and maintenance cost on those touareg TDI? I really want to get one but I am afraid that it won't reliable and will cost me an arm and leg
P C I would buy one with the certificate pre-owned warranty. I have had several issues with mine, but have the CPO warranty. Many of the issues was from the car sitting on the VW TDI buyback lots. I think mine sat for over two years. VW reconditioned a lot of them including mine but there were still issues with things. I just got it back from the shop yesterday actually. I purchased the suv in September 2019 and it has literally had to be taken into the dealership for something every single month. I’m not exaggerating, it really has had to get repaired for something every single month. I have a rental car for about a week each month. I’m hoping this was the last issue and that it’s good to go. Otherwise it’s a great vehicle. Lots of power and ability. Has excellent towing capabilities and even stock without a lift or the optional air suspension (European option for T3) it performs quite well off road.
@@nathankitts1903 thanks for the info, yea that's exactly what I am worried about. I will look for a cpo
@@pc8472 I also purchased a TDI (2011) around the same time as Nathan (Oct. 2019) I travel for work and have put on 26k since. Started with 94k just passed 120k today. I have had to nothing but oil changes. It did have one issue with the ADBlue system, but was covered under the recall warranty. I hope this helps! I love this vehicle and want to put some bigger tires on it soon!
Nice video and impressive for a US spec Touareg Sport with open diffs and open transfer case. Tires and lift kit make a huge difference, you are going through some gnarly obstacles!
Imagine if we had air suspension and locking front, center, and rear diffs. Got a 2011 Sport with no CPO, got lucky so far only minor issues with hatch lift motors, 12v outlet rear seats and hatch area don’t work, and slow power steering leak. Avon Indiana here
The off road programming is pretty effective for sure. Makes me want to take my 04 V10 out again. The air suspension makes for a lack of suspension flex when pumped up, so that is a bit of a downside... but having the rear locker does make for much easier control over obstacles.
Красавец туарег на таких тапках! И шо вытворяет этот авто на бездорожье!!! Как танк!!!!
Крутой видос !!!!! Супер !!!!
beast mode lol i just bought a 2013 soo sick best all around vehicle.
Owner of a '13 V6 TDI Lux.. white outside, saddle brown inside. Bought used 4+ years ago and have benefited from the extended TDI warranty (expires later next month) a couple times. Within the first week of ownership I replaced the wheels and tires to fit some 265/60 18 Hankook Dynapros. Looks epic, is rock solid and drives great. After years of owning cheaper and crappier vehicles I love my Touareg so much that I wouldn't take the chance of damaging something playing on the rocks like you do. I'll just have to find something cheaper and nastier to beat up. But I do enjoy having some occasional deep snow and messy roads to drive through. 😁
Edawge take it off-road enjoy life!!
unbelievable
Found your treg build online and curious if the mk6 wheel was a direct swap airbag and all, or did you need a new harness. I really want to get a flat bottom in my 2012. Your truck is great. Love finding pics eveytime I search for something to add to mine.
Это конечно же уже не тот проходимец что был ранее до 2011 года, а здесь уже и даже классические маленькие боковые зеркала заднего вида 😊
Looks like this is the 4--Motion version without low-range and rear diff lock? Still very capable! I love my 4xMotion :-)
Dillon are the AGFAB spacers fitted underneath the original springs front and rear, i see some other brand spacers have holes in them and AGFAB is just a simple round spacer.
Impresionante. No rozan las ruedas con los plásticos y pasos de rueda? Gracias. Un saludo
Jeesuus…love it..
Thank you for the inspiration! I had no idea my Touareg could handle this type of challenges.
Do you have the rear locking diffs?
Awesome Touareg and awesome video. Just picked up a '14 and this video gives me so much motivation. If you don’t mind my asking, what tires and what size are you running? Thanks!
It's in the video description they are 305/60/r18 Nitro ridge grapplers
I have same car and color! Nice.
Dillion how do the axles hold up with the constant force switching from side to side I have 2013 and also have GX470 and some rear axles break? Do you feel that with our TDI transmission don't need 4lo? Very interested to know to see if my T3 is good overland platform
This sounds great! I have a 2007 model toureg and it dosnt sound like this... Have you you air intake or anything?
What a fucking beast!
Cool, what size of tires instarted in your car?
Have you had any reliability issues with off-roading it? I have a 2015 with the terrain tech package and I’d love to try it out but seems so fragile for some reason.
Very impressive for a 2011 with no lockers. Makes me wonder how a T1 with a center and rear locking diff would've done on the same rough spots. Either way its more than capable enough for most people even without the locking diffs. Touareg FTW.
Yes a diff lock would help immensely. Gen I has center and some versions even rear diff lock on that. But it is a much heavier vehicle.
The T3 has available as optional the Terrain Tech package, and it adds the low range, and center and rear diff lock., the package only adds about 100lbs. It also adds bigger fuel tank and underbody protections. Anyway, I think that the majority off T3 Tregs on the US are without the package, maybe all of them.
@@andraslibal Yeap. I have a V8 with the center and rear diff lock. It also has air suspension. I'm about to pick up a T3 TDI as well.
@@SimonStrother in the US that is what I would buy. In Europe ... I will stick with a Q5.
@@nanol6441 none of that available in North America sadly, while it’s a big job all of it can be retrofitted relatively easily
Was this recently for sale? Saw it on marketplace in IN last summer or so.
What offset are those wheels? Looks tuff
Is that stock intake sounds? Or have you changed it? Love your build!
Yes, stock!
Mmmm That turbo diesel whistle 😙.
Still getting 30 mpg on the highway with the lift?
sweet treg! Any info on how you installed the winch?
Thank you! here is a link to the build thread with some winch install pictures. www.clubtouareg.com/threads/dillons-t3-build-project-egress.290310/
Great offroad, how big tyres and what mods has been done?
Subscribed
Thanks! It has 305/60r18 tires. A 2.5 lift form AG.Fabs and 35mm wheel spacers.
"can it go off road enough" @1:29, yea thatll do.
Is this the 4xMotion with low range? It looks saaaaweeeeeet!
I think this is the regular 4motion
Silly question, what is the mpg after the lift? I want to build a ski/camping rig, so looking for a good blend of off road capability and mpg.
I want to see under your front bumper so bad to know what you did for a winch mountain plate
Спасибо за видео! У меня такой же! У вас какая трансмиссия? С пониженной передачей?
Автоматическая коробка передач
Any mods to the exhaust? Sounds evil
Is daily driving vehicle? How is it on the highway?
does your TDI have locks?or just like normal on road/off road mode?
around min 3 you can hear max rev? doesnt give this some problems on the torque converter? think the first gear is a bit to long.. terrain tech would be better at this car :D
What tyres are you using?
Hi matey. What's the lift kit have you used if it's not on air and where can I buy said lift kit. Many thanks
It is with low range, central and real differential lock ?
is this one of the best 4x4 systems ever? Is it from Audi?
What lift kit did you use and where can I find it.
And that wastegate flutter.... How is that rugged up?
its seems like the turbo is making a strange noise
Класс! Зачётный аппарат. Какой размер резины, что за марка и какой клиренс?
265/60R18 27см клиренс по пневме и 3см из-за увеличеного типоразмера профиля шин итого 30см
А как называется резина ?
Hello this is absolutely a beast
does it have low range or lockers centre or rear
Not this particular model no this is know as the t3 touareg which only had a awd system with no low range and locker available
@@ericksanchez7787 thanks for the reply
@@amm2472 No problem if you have any question about touareg or any vehicle I will try to help
Do you get any rubbing with those tires? 32.5" is a decent size (305/60R18). I'm consider some 255/60R20's for mine (32"). I'm thinking a slightly slimmer tire that's taller than OEM would work without having to cut any plastic.
Did you ever put 255/60r20's on your rig?! I'm curious how they fit... I think I'd go with that same size
@@c.s.n.7695 I ended up doing 275/55R20 they look and run great.
@@c.s.n.7695 facebook.com/groups/484150522226556/
@@nathankitts1903 So did you just run the spacers on your struts? Or did you make any other mods to your lift? Did you lower your subframe? Or change to different struts?
@@c.s.n.7695 just the 2” pucks from Eurowise. No changes to the struts.
I wonder why you didn't get the terrain tech package for this beast
Wasn’t an option in North America on the T3. A few have retrofitted it over here though.
Anyone knows it is touareg wich terian tech (off road paket) or without ? It is american touareg version ? And i am interesting in evry american touareg
on base model have torsen dif ?
what off road option do you have? do you have option central diff? or is that just off road option (standard)
Just standard
Amazing ! Just bought my 2014 Touareg and was wondering do you use the stock wheels for this tyres and what is the tyre spec front and rear if you don’t mind answering . Thx
Stock wheels with 35mm spacers. 305/60r18 tires.
Hi, where’s I can buy that AGFABS 55mm lift kit?
J'en veux 1.. 😊
That's a very impressive T3 with amazing ability.
With the 3"lift do you still have any suspension travel left?
Please send me the contact where I can buy the lift.
Thanks
Rick Cristiani do you have Instagram? His user name on there is @_alex_gee_ Thanks!
Is this a t3 with just the 4motion or did you get a 4xmotion package?
They had the 4xmotion as a package? As far as I know the t3 touareg only came with 4motion
Edit: a quick search and I found out that the t3 could be optioned with the 4xmotion in Australia for 2012 models so to answer your question since this video takes place in America the t3 has the standard 4motion
@@ericksanchez7787 thanks! when I found that as an option it did not specify that it was for Australia. We never get the good stuff :(
Insanity!
Размер резины какой?
Doesnt it have the low range and center and rear diff lockers? Or in USA and Canada market it isnt available?
FPV flights Latvia no lockers available on the 7p in the US
Doesn't really need them..
@@Noneurbidnez Well, it makes a whole lot of difference - less strain on the brakes, easier and much more even drive.
@@Android8890 as a whole, sure diff locks are better.. but speaking practically, the AWD system on the Treg accomplishes the same thing as differential locking.
@@Noneurbidnez It works pretty well, for sure. I have the 4xmotion (the low gears and center + rear locker) on mine - so I can tell there is a big difference - especially on rocks - it really gives much more control and the whole ordeal is much easier and much smoother. The lockers and low gear don't do much on loose surfaces like sand or mud, but it is rather important if the slow and controlled movement is crucial.
Hat der Touareg kein Terrain Tech ?
Can you say what wheels and tyres did you use (size)
Thank you
Stock wheels with 35mm spacers. 305/60r18 tires. (Nitro Ridge Grapplers)
This all is either in videos description or in few first comments. :)
Where did you order the lift kit from?!
Ah.Fabs on Instagram
Hello, what size of tire do you have.?
I think he has 33" mud tires, 305/60r18 Mickey Thompson MTZ
Offff puffff çofffff goodddd 🤌🤌👍👐👐
Porque se escucha ese stututu?
What tires do you have?
Horatiu Boromiza Nitto Ridge Grapplers
What tires size?
does it have low range?
Just the regular 4motion awd
does he have air suspension?
No
What is the engine capacity/type?
It's a 3.0 diesel v6
low gear????
?
Diesel too. Impressive up that climb at 0:23 . Isn't it a T2? I thought T3 started in 2013. No lockers either (T3) just the "Off Road" mode. But I know it has a Torsen rear diff, that must help a lot.
Its a 2nd gen Touareg, but its called T3. Production started from 2011-2014, in 2015 the T4 facelift was released.
Is 7p5 Touareg, it’s produced since 2010.
Pretty sure it doesn't have a torsen rear diff. It has a torsen center diff to split power front to rear.
It just has clever programming in the ABS/stability control module. Switch the dial to the "Off Road" mode and it much more aggressively applies the brakes to the wheel that is slipping to send power to the one that has traction. It also engages hill descent control as needed.
Overall, it's a pretty effective system. This is also known as electronic differential lock or EDL for short. It doesn't actually lock the diff, but it gets you by almost as good as one.
does it have the low range box?
No just the 4motion awd
My car ❤
How do I contact agfabs. I've been looking to lift my touareg as well.
Best way is on Instagram @_alex_gee_
@@Dillonk09 What is the second best way if you are not on instagram?
Do you have any skid plates on the bottom?
That is the question I wanted to ask. There is an article on his build here offroadium.com/lifted-volkswagen-touareg-with-33-mud-tires.html he does not mention skid plates, would be a good idea especially with the rocks he tackles ...
NOT DIFF LOCK ????
The AWD system will act like it does. In off-road mode just keep the gas steady and it will figure it out and send power where it is needed.
Traction control doing its magic
@@ethan928 I do not know if it is configurable .... because there, it skates too long before it acts !!!
За что ж ты его так (((
