THIS is the kind of interview I love to see of Brian Wilson... talking about his music, not being forced to recount his painful history over and over. Well done
Yeah, these kind of interviews are the best. It's like, when they interview Messi, they always ask him about Cristiano Ronaldo, of his family, controversies, etc, but never about football!
Brian still has those sparkles in his eyes when he talks about his love for music, like a child who sees a firework for the first time.
Beautiful Loser isn’t it beautiful? I have the chills and tears in my eyes. Brian can’t possibly realize the effect his incredible music has on people. He’s truly an angel sent from God.
A true genius. Everyone should listen to pet sounds all the way through at least once in their life.
Echo Then after that, Beach Boys Today and SMiLE sessions. Their discography even after Pet Sounds it pretty solid up into the late 70’s.
Yeah! The whole run from Today! until Holland is soooo solid. Very underrated. And then Love You and L.A later 70's both just great albums also.
I listen to it constantly. It's Holy.
agreed! Have/having kids? The Pet Sounds LP should be their baptism
My fav Beach Boys album from the. day it came out! 💝 I still listen to it (straight thru) at least once a month!
If a brian Wilson p bass came out, I’d snag it in a heartbeat, no question. Take note fender!
It's the same as the 1963 American vintage P-bass in white but with the pickup cover removed.
Carole K
I've got a 61 p bass. I might sell it soon. 😁
magradygrind as long as They make a Lefty, so I could get one!
@@TimV93 and Brian Wilson did have the pickup cover on until 1965 it would seem
Wow, Brian's in a really great shape here. He seems very confident and chilled. I'm so glad to see him like that :)
Now he is sick...😟 Just mostly wore out for touring.
I think he's happy these days.
in the great shape of the agriculture!
@@jadenwaz9585 Probably because he wants to be around his vega-tables.
One of the best late-era Brian Wilson interview. Here he seems very comfortable becasue hes able to talk freely about what he loves, music. Unbelieveable how many amazing songs this man has given to us over the decades.
There's nothing else like Beach Boys music. Brian is a freaking genius with melody, harmony, an arrangement. His kind of talent comes around only once a century or so. Thank you Brian for sharing your incredibly fun music with us.
He talks about Mike in such a positive light. I love this man
Mike has given Brian alot of abuse over the years but he holds no grudges against him. Brian loves everyone.
Michael David Blood's thicker than water, as they say.
Brian loves his boys. It's in his heart and soul to speak of them that way.
It's apart of their 90s settlement!! Ahahahahaha
MrSixiesRock he’s a great guy
We are lucky to have this Man in our history
When Brian is in a good mood, there is no greater raconteur.
Brian seems happy to be there and talk and that makes me happy. And he sounds great still. This was all very good and wonderful to listen to.
Amen. Had exactly the same feeling, thoughts. Love the man, love the songs.
He seems happy and relaxed these days. So good to see him this way after the long and sometimes difficult journey he’s had.
This man has given us all a gift. The gift of song, a slice of heaven.
Wow! I haven't seen Brian this happy and talkative for a long time
Brian Wilson is an absolute national treasure. I would not mind paying just to see him talk and share his musical ideas and experiences. After all the difficulties that he went through and the personal demons he battled with, I am glad to see him in a much better place now.
He is truly one of the most influential musicians to ever live. Thank you Brian, we love you.
For the BEATLES to have been blown away by "Pet Sounds" & view the Beach Boys as their MAIN competition... says it all... they were the ultimate background music to our stomping ground parties, beach parties... Milnerton Beach ...Rondebosch crowd, Bergvliet crowd, Clifton beach....Cape Town... halcyon days...
Why isn't this 3 hours long
rafasounds2010 because tbh Brian is pretty fragile at this point and not really long-winded at all. He actually seemed more enthused and talkative in this clip than I’ve seen recently
@@younghemingway8285 Exactly. I think when you put him in his natural atmosphere, among musicians and musical instruments, it definitely brings the best out of him.
I dont think there has been such an interview with brian since the 90s maybe early 00s, and there may not be an actual continuous recording of him of him being interviewed that
long(3 hours+) from anytime. Brian always seemed to be short with his answers, not giving the question much thought, and wanting to leave as soon as possible. Possibly around his first solo tour or the 04 smile, but even then I dont know if there 3 hours+ of brian talking about anything.
Man, you guys! I'm pretty sure that was a rhetorical question!
@@magneto7930 Nice to see him open up more...in a more recent interview. The natural environment that works best for him is among other musicians when discussing his music. I hope future interviews with him will use what worked nicely here.
Also nice to see Blondie Chaplin.
Nothing phoney about Brian Wilson. Love to hear his enthusiasm ❤
That's actually the best I've heard Brian in an interview since about 1976...looks great, too...
This video makes me tear up. Brian seems so much more comfortable and friendly. It’s so nice to see him with Blondie having fun.
Brian seems to be doing better and better every year. That's great to see !
For him to write harmonies for many voices and then combine them to produce music so godly....
I have no words....
It’s cool to see Fender harkening back to its early roots this way. A lot of magic happened with the company in the 50’s and early 60’s, and the Beach Boys were a major part of it! Good job and thanks!
I just want to give that man a hug. What a legend.
Brian has written extremely complex songs, yet highly melodic. A true artist, a compositional genius. Stay well Brian and thank you for over 50 years of music. Can’t wait for your next project🎸
Ahhh, what a great interview. Loved when Brian started singing "In My Room." It really is a piece of heaven.
Brian's singing is still so accurate. Even though he doesn't have his youthful voice in his older age, the singing is still spot on!
Brian seems relaxed being in the Studio , this man was pure genius
Listening to brian talk about the studio is just pure joy
The Beach Boys has some of the most awesome harmonies of any band in history. And Brian's falsetto was just icing on the cake
Fender, thank you SO MUCH from the bottom of my heart for doing this video with Brian! The Beach Boys are my all time favorite band and Brian is truly a one of a kind musical genius. He’s blessed us with beautiful music and I think he and the band don’t get nearly as much recognition as they deserve! This video made my whole day! Thank you thank you!!!
Man. Brian Wilson.. Living genius of our time, look at him light up when talking about music, this is what its all about people
I had the pleasure of seeing him perform Pet Sounds live in full a couple of years back. One of the greatest nights of my life.
RIP nicky. Fender please release more of this set
Brian Wilson is the greatest songwriter and producer of all time imo
and a fucking genius too
Wouldnt say the best producer
Best producer, top 10 writer
@DereMemo It's alright to have an opinion, but to label him 'terrible' is total bollocks and you know it!
@DereMemo the beach boys have a very vast catalogue of music. If you don't like their commercial poppy stuff, they have plenty of deep stuff as well
When he said "Music is love for me, music is like feeling love and happiness and joy" it almost made me cry😥 I love him so much❤
Wow, who would have thought California Girls would've sounded so good stripped down like that!
All our love, Brian, all our love to you!
Mr. Wilson was and will always be the genius/heartbeat ect. of the Beach Boys. this is a short but demostration with a couple of accomplished musicians he does show respect to his credit . but Mr. Love anything he has accomplished he owes to Mr. Wilson.
Love listening to Brian talk music and songwriting, what a great treasure he is to the world. 😊🎶
I’m 18, I’ve grown up with The Beach Boys and Brian Wilson, I started playing bass around 12, I now own a fender American jazz bass. Fender and The Beach Boys have been two big inspirations for me
good luck kid also if you love them search out not just their hits but their albums and unreleased stuff too, you tube has a lot of good bootlegs on here too. like Get the Boot Vol 1 and 2. a song called Hard times is a great blondie song that was i want to say (1973) it's an outtake from i want to say Holland. i've been a fan for the past 35 years
and i saw them in concert in 86. the only thing that drives me nuts is when people who claim how much they love them yet you mention certain songs like with me tonight, Our Team, only with you which is one of the most prettiest songs i've ever heard in my life, than Carl's masterpiece Heaven. those people only know the hits and while that's not a bad thing, they have done so much great music and songs that i think are better than their hit singles, such as Little Honda, i love Chug-a-lug, your my miss America i think is title of it. the shift is another, judy is decent i think. so check out their lesser known stuff and you will really fall in love with them.
their best stuff for me is (1965-1973) that's when they were at their peak i think and yes they did outstanding albums before that
but creative wise it was those years and search out their sessions stuff too it's great to listen to, the help me Rhonda sessions seek that out it's on here too
Stimpson J. Kat i grew up with the early surf songs and I as I grew up I grew more fond of their obscure stuff, I love everything from surfs up to still cruisin’ I love keeping the summer alive as a whole album, LA, and the 1985 album, it’s hard for me to name a beach boys song that’s my favorite and one that’s my least favorite, so versatile as a band
@@liamkeane4214 Spot on! Also loved ALL of them... "Good Vibrations" blew our sox off but "God Only Knows" ... haunting melody & lyrics... what is gr8 is younger generation & some Millenials are tuned into 60's/'70's fabulous music be it via parents or via the worldwide wonderful Web (tks Steve Jobs & Wozniak & Gates et al)...
Brian looks very happy :')
Brian Wilson is one of the greatest artists of all time.
Whoever put this together and produced it was brilliant! Not an easy job getting Brian Wilson to talk in an interview.. play music and keeping him cohesive on both fronts.
Not many are conducted in front of a piano. This is him at his most relaxed and at ease. Wondering if the sound of the keys shuts out the voices in his head.
Such a brilliant musician! Love this!
Awesome seeing and hearing Blondie on more than "his" couple of songs and great to hear him back on top of "I Get Around", just like he was in the 70's.
RIP Nicky Walusko. I'm surprised to see a video with Brian on the Fender CZcams channel, but I realized I fell in love with the Fender Jazzmaster the same moment I fell in love with the Beach Boys, watching the Pet Sounds concert film (Pet Sounds Live in London, 2003) on dvd, which featured Nicky Walusko on Jazzmaster. His solo on the Pet Sounds instrumental blew my mind and there was no turning back. Then I saw him do it live in the summer of 2017 on the Brian Wilson Pet Sounds world tour in Amsterdam. Glad to see him featured in this video! Even if he is only a touring musician, he and his Jazzmaster have made a lasting impression on me and are a vital part of my history as a Beach Boys superfan. Thanks for this video, Fender!
Love Blondie. He had a short tenure but HUGE influence on the legacy of the Boys.
I love you Brian Wilson. It's amazing to see this even though it's not as heavy as the original version... so awesome because it's him
What a man he is 👌 Just as honest as a child before they're exposed to the world, and that's really wholesome given what he's been through.
I have only one word; LEGEND! Thank you so much Brian, I have listened to you my whole life and will continue to do so until I breathe my last.
BRAVO! Great to hear Brian talk and make music in his natural environment-the studio. Some fine singing too, including Blondie's falsettos on I Get Around. Interesting mix of musicians in this Brian Wilson trio! And agree-I wish this video were longer!
Thank you for doing this interview with him!! Brian is an amazing songwriter and a wonderful person.
I think what I love about him are his struggles and not giving up. Knowing he is in this world keeps many from not giving up....
He looks great. This is a real rock icon. Take note present day artists.
Brian is the greatest artist alive
Him and Paul McCartney are probably the best 2 remaining
no that's Kanye West
maluma
Indeed!!!!
@@SilversteinRescue ha good joke
Brian is a genius, i love Fender and own a 1960 sunburst jazzmaster along with 52 other guitars, every Fender bass included thanks !
Thant's awesome! We are glad to hear you love the interview.
52? I cannot compete with that but I do have my original'68 sunburst Precision (should've bought the white one) and a slightly earlier Mustang. Used to own a Rhodes, too. Love Fender's electric instruments.
Brian Wilson, what a legend!
Thank you , Fender! Brian looked a sounded much better than when I saw him in WDC recently. It warms my heart to see he is still in love with the music that brings us all so much joy.
Wow, he seems more mentally clearer than he has been in years! Bravo Brian!
Would have been cool to have invited Carol Kaye to lay down the bass lines. But, great to see Brian doing something like this.
by some she is forgotten but by others like us she isn't. is she even still around?
@@rolandofgilead43 She is still around. Just retired. I learned how to play the bass with Carol Kaye, and Mel Bay. Bought their books (learn to play), back in 1975 when I was 14y/o.
@@rolandofgilead43 thankfully, yes!
Half of what makes I Get Around great is the bass line. I know it isn’t her playing, but still.
shes wasnt even that good
The GOAT! Love any interviews with him.
Brian is such a national treasure. I love you BRIAN!!!
Brian looks and sounds really good. Makes me happy - hope he is.
Great video! Brian still has that magic when he plays and talks about the timeless music he's created. And it's nice to see the late and great Nicky Walusko on guitar. He sadly passed away last year :(
Love ❤️ his advice on songwriting!! He is a legend! Love all of Brian’s music!!! 🎼 🎹 🎸 🥁
The greatest songwriter, producer, vocal melody arranger in all history!
We LOVE YOU Brian!
Brian Wison= great. Lennon and McCartney > BW.
Sy Goldman Lennon McCartney for me 2nd to Brian
Brian Wilson , the Legend .!
He’s a legend. It’s awesome to see videos from these heroes of music
I always feel thrilled when I see some Brian Wilson's videos talking about his work.
Janelle Monáe is really lucky to have him harmonizing on her album
Thank you so much Brian. My favorite song writer and he influenced me to write music
Small video for a music genius....
We all just love him so much. He hopes he lives healthy and happy for many more years.
This is by far the most comfortable I’ve ever seen Brian in the 21st century
2011 interview on the QTV was pretty good
Pure genius.
Glad to have Blondie here
that voice is still golden!
I Love his falsetto on I get around
Can't believe this recorded in 1 take and 1 year ago, Brian looks so energy-full......
🌊The Sound of California 🎵
Never tire of this! Keep it going Brian-we all love you ❤!
Love it ! Mostly because of Brian's very alive and well passion ! and Blondie jumping in with the perfect high notes !
That sound of a Fender guitar inspires me... I play the PIANO!
Aahahaha love Brian!
Nicky Wonder (Nick Walusko) on the far right and part of Brian Wilson's backing band died suddenly aged 59.
Great Brian! 👍😊🇮🇹
love you Brian, and the rest of the band too. From Argentina
Brian looks and sounds great in this
Brian and Blondie, such a treat
Brian Wilson is a genius.
FANTASTIC!!!
I LOVE YOU BRIAN
I could listen to a whole album from this trio
Love what you did here Fender, I'd love it if you could get more people like Brian Wilson on here!!!
Great video. Would love to see the whole thing uncut!
chords > melody > lyrics. glad I'm doing it in the right order Sir Wilson
Song writing explained: chords, melody lyrics...it's that simple...what a video..directly from the master...wow..wow..wow
I’m 26. I grew up listening to the beach boys, mainly by a cd my mum had in her car(S). Growing up I just thought that the songs were just catchy, sing-along songs but recently I’ve discovered a great appreciation for Brian Wilson’s life, ‘genius’ and musicianship. I’ve admired a lot of music greats ,ever since I truly got into listening to music, but Brian’s obviously subtle songwriting is pure bliss.
Awww, Brian looks so happy here:) Also, OMG Blondie's voice is so perfect-still sounds as great as the 70s!!
Really nothin like Brian Wilson playing his songs with fender guitars. America’s band with America’s guitars
He's very centered here & it's great to hear. He is extremely insightful & has a lot to say. Looks like he's recovered a lot.
RIP. Nick Walusko🙏 life is precious.
This is great Fender! I enjoyed watching this! Thanks for the amazing interview.
