It just happens and also happened to me. At that time when you try to do changes to win, nobody thinks about the amount of KDA or True damage. Maybe an option can be appear like Sona's, to choose TD or KDA if there are same amount of both. Because he could open 2 TD (kennen&qiyana) and 3 KDA at the same time. Actually it kills an interesting option for a possible comp.
