      Merc BTW it’s just “22 caliber” not “point 22.” For future reference. Shotguns, in contrast, are generally referred to in gauge, i.e. 12 gauge, 20 gauge, or might be referenced as birdshot, buckshot, etc. Giving you a good reference article below as a starter, .30-.30 is said as “thirty-thirty,” but .30-06 is said as “thirty-aught-six.”

      As always great work! English is a tricky language, as we take stuff from everywhere then bastardize it beyond recognition. It’s amazing how many people use the wrong you’re/your (and even yore); it’s and its gets mangled plenty as well (even in that article, which is otherwise well done, minus an unneeded apostrophe or two).

    • @michelleprieur1
      @michelleprieur1 Před 5 lety +11

      I think that this was mistated. I'm familiar with this case and never heard that the witness heard screaming for an hour. I believe that what was stated, unclearly, that the witness went to bed after not hearing anything else for an hour. It's also stated that the witness "thought" they heard screaming. I'm not necessarily disagreeing that the police should have been called, but I think that this is misleading. I can't honestly say that I would immediately call the police if I thought I heard screaming either. Also, I don't see any killer letting a victim scream for an hour.

    • @cookingwithtabitha

    • @MiraSubieGirl

      Mmm its possible an Asian Black Bear or "Sun Bear" got them...
      They notoriously do not scratch or bite and instead slam into things and smack em with their retracted paw.
      They get startled easily and will defend themselves brutally.
      However it does not explain why the boys were so close together...
      Probably some sick fuck humans :(

  • @Toolness1
    @Toolness1 Před 6 lety +16

    If someone is falsely imprisoned and later released, they should receive back pay of at the very least minimum wage for the years they spent in jail. Only problem with that is who is going to pay for it? But it's pretty damned sad that someone can spend decades in jail for no reason and all they get when they are released is a "sorry dude, our bad".
    Oh, and both women in the last one would probably be alive if they had kept the dude in jail after his sex crimes and attempted murder.... I have no clue why we let those kinds of people go...they need to be kept locked up forever. When you watch a lot of videos like this, you see just how many involve repeat offenders. So many lives would be saved if sick people were kept behind bars

    For your next unsolved mysteries video, you should check out Darrel Smith of Woodland, Maine. He was killed in his garage and his murder was never solved. The entire area is very rural and the population is minimal. A place where everyone literally knows everyone else, a modern day Mayberry. Some area towns don't even have a police department or full time law enforcement.

    How could someone listen to someone screaming for an hour and not call the police? I live across the street from a park and if night and I hear someone scream I wait to see if more or if can tell it's just people playing around. Two screams and I call police. That's only happened once. Better to have them check it out, even if nothing's wrong. On the other hand I can't imagine a murderer allowing a victim to continue screaming and maybe attracting attention. Surely would choke or hit victim on head. Witness probably full of shit. You said linked to first murder, but not second. Why couldn't they prosecute on one linked to???

  • @sharonthompson7050

    Those poor girl in the last story. I thought about someone stealing their organs as well at first because of their chest being slayed open. I really don't understand the woman hearing screams for over an hour and she does nothing! Why not call the police? These cases really disturbed me. And Idk who would harass someone for sooo long in the bill and Dorothy Wacker case! Theories???

    • @michelleprieur1
      @michelleprieur1 Před 5 lety +3

      Sorry I'm late to the party but I just subscribed. In the Wacker case, I think that was either a hoax or a family member who was harassing them. Possibly they didn't want a family member to be punished? I'm not sure if I really buy the story but if it is true, it had to have been someone who they knew. I believe that Mr. Wacker is now deceased.

    Great you did one of my requests! I think I read Sam Sheppard actually did professional wrestling for a bit when he got acquitted. Weird. Such great fan service! One of the best if not the best channel on the net and you're really starting to grind a lot out more recently. I'm still hoping for the "Starved Rock" case in LaSalle County IL. It was the murder of two women in St.Louis canyon. I get the creeps every time I hike in there. Great job though! Excellent!

      I can't give you enough appreciation for your fan service. If anything else out of the darkness that hasn't been done 1000 times over I'm going to try to bring it to your attention because I get results here and mighty fine quality! The only reason I'm so hung up on the Starved Rock case is that I read there was a hint of doubt to it and it hasn't been done hundreds of times along with the fact that I've hiked that canyon 10's of times. I'd like to see your take on it. I actually did a university report on Sam Sheppard and I give you my accolades! Well done! There are a couple of cases I wish there was more info on. I know it's played out but I'm still really curious about the Elisa Lam case. It's so completely weird. Weird creepy cult murders don't seem to be touched on very much and those just give me the heebie jeebies. I think they impress me because of what people can do to one another with brainwashing. It's fascinating.

    • @Frequentfoul
      @Frequentfoul Před 6 lety

      I'm going to be curious if Some of your more less known cases start crossing paths with other channels now. You really are becoming the front-runner in finding the lessor known cases. You've offically passed up Criminally listed as my favorite channel. As you've gotten deeper and deeper into the unknown cases they are starting to circle into the repetitive ones unfortunately. Still both great channels and will still rewatch the cases on either though.

    • @Frequentfoul
      @Frequentfoul Před 6 lety +3

      I'm from the Midwest so I'm going to know a little more of the nationally unknown cases that are more known in these parts so I can give you a couple of arrows in the right direction. Another one outside of Cleveland if you want to get into gruesome cult killings is the Kirtland cult killings outside of Cleveland Ohio. This case was just completely unimaginable. www.news-herald.com/article/HR/20141231/NEWS/141239955

  • @JOYOUSONEX
    @JOYOUSONEX Před 5 lety +5

    I was 10 when the Shepard case occurred. It WAS a big deal. I lived in Columbus and the local news media had a field day with it. It was all my mom and the neighbors would talk about. I remember listening to the radio (we didn't have a tv yet) when the announcer broke in announcing the guilty verdict. Yes I would say the media influenced the outcome of that trial.

    • @hciapetus1251
      @hciapetus1251 Před 5 lety +4

      JOYOUSONEX - yikes! When I read this I actually shook my head. Just reminds that media has an influence on all of us; for the worst and best.
      Also reminds me of when I was a kid and the Springfield Three (MO) case happened. It was popular with the media in neighboring towns and cities. I remember my mom watching the news. Some time later, a journalist wanted to have a team investigate a hospital parking lot because someone said that’s were the 3 ladies were buried. So many people agreed and couldn’t believe the cops wouldn’t do anything about the “tip”. Turns out, the information came from a guy who claimed to be a psychic. No wonder the cops wouldn’t do anything. But some of the reports the media was putting out didn’t mention this and it caused a lot of civilians to think the cops were untrustworthy.
      While that case isn’t like the Shepard one, it certainly reminded me of how the media has an influence over us, even if we don’t want to believe it.

      Michael Elliott: it’s really sad when you pollute these types of videos with your political agenda. Yes, Trump is an idiot but that comment doesn’t belong here. Go talk about him on the proper videos.

    I'm watching this one and wondering why I didn't come across it when it first came out. I've paused it to say that the story of Sam Shepard *may* have been the inspiration for a US TV series called The Fugitive. Your presentation goes beyond anything I've read on the Internet about his case.

    After being exonerated for the murder people still saying Shepherd way guilty of killing his wife .. people are disgusting maybe one day they will be charged with a serious crime and then found out after spending time in jail that they were innocent and if people still think they did it that's the only way people like that will learn if it happens to them because they are so perfect ya right it's those kind of people you have to watch our for the squeaky clean type too squeaky clean makes me wonder what they do that they have to put up such a perfect front I have never trusted people that came across as to perfect like Cosby now that's the (Perfect) example always calling out people to live their lives proper.. well we know just how perfect n proper he turned out to be,, what a joke of human being !!!

I've watched the videos for about a year after finding the channel in my suggestions, I'm even subscribed at this point, but cannot figure out why sometimes the narrator is a woman and sometimes it is a man or how to tell the difference prior to clicking on the video. But mostly, why tear down someone who's doing their best? You don't like it, go out there and make these videos yourself and see how easy it is to please the massive CZcams audience.

    • @michaelwhite2823
      @michaelwhite2823 Před 3 lety

      Look. This is all about click revenue and being commercial. For that you want the biggest audience. This is a great channel but the sake stories are run on other channels. The competition is fierce and life isn't fair.

In other words, said out loud, your comment reads "It's the point twenty two caliber killer not point twenty two caliber killer". It is commonly said as "twenty two caliber" but that's not how it is written. Merc is just saying what he sees.

    Damn. This is gonna sound racist but it’s a shame you have such a thick accent because it kept me from really enjoying your content. Perhaps consider working with someone who can record narration for you. It’s reaaaally holding back your channel and potential. Like, why would you decide to narrate it to a western audience with such a thick, incomprehensible Indian accent. Like goddamn dude.
