Honestly once explained it's fairly intuitive. Thank you for breaking it down so nicely for us newbies! Can't wait to play with the full version
Thx for all your videos man, I re-entered the Logic world recently and still love it. I started on Logic in the 90s when it used to be called "Notator". How it has evolved over the years has been mind-blowing. You seem to be extremely passionate about music production which is awesome. I am too (again) and found out at 40 y.o that the extra passion, drive & creativity is due to ADHD, which originally I thought was a curse but now know that it is a gift that needs to be managed. All the best from Australia. =]
Very informative and explained in a functional way that even the those with a basic knowledge of DAWs can understand. Thanks for doing this!
Thanks so much for this amazing, amazing series of Logic Pro X tutorials. The package is enormous and your information is so helpful! It has saved us hours of hard slog. Cheers Mate from Glenn & Dave.
Fantastic, thank you so much for this series. Totally loving them. Namaste.
Best Logic/recording vids on youtube imho thank you a million times over for sharing your extensive knowledge my recordings are starting to sound awesome from following your tuition.
wow! i knew what bussing did, but this was helpful because I get to see HOW its used. This is so well organized.
I knew this already but if i'd had this tutorial two years ago it would have saved me so much time messing around - great work mister
So helpful! Literally saved me a college course. Thanks again.
I feel like every episode is like a college course 1 to 1, they are so thorough 😀

The explanation is clear, I do understand what you say, I've finally understood how to use busses... Good job well done !
A great shortcut to this is selecting your tracks and right clicking and making a summing stack (not folder stack) and logic will creat these busses for you really quickly
Thank you. This was very helpful. I downloaded the Kramer Tape plug in. I use AD 2 for drums. Great music as well.
I was a little confused about using buses and auxes because I was used to working with Cubase before, and your video was really helpful, thanks!
You are the best CZcamsr and aside from that thank god your videos are organised by # number
This was helpful as I'm learning Logic X. I couldn't figure out how to create a new bus, but it's as simple as assigning channels to a bus. The only thing I noticed is that VCA (now DCA) is not the same thing as a bus on an analog or digital mixer.
I know this is from 2014, but this has helped me loads in 2019. Thanks!
just started teaching myself logic yesterday. thanks!! Very helpful !
These are all really phenomenal tutorials
hey man... am a producer from africa, not sure you ever view this comment but all the same, thanks for sharing. producers make mastering feel like a huge secret down here and you just proved them wrong. cheers
First bussing video i found that wasn't about sending reverb LOL thank you so much this is exactly what i was looking for
another great vid! really helpful and easy to understand , thanks!
Hello man! I forgot to thank you for everything. I've really learned a lot from you. Thanks again!
you make everything so clear!
Nice one. Clear and concise.
Thank you so Much great explanation , and easy To understand
Great channel....I keep coming back every time I pick up on Logic...I'm in it for the fun and not using it on a day to day basis.
I'm not sure if you have a video that covers this: I was looking at Synthesiser/Soundscape/Flying Waves. When you open up all the tracks that make up the sound, it's not particularly easy for me to figure out what and where some of the buses are coming from and going too. In that case...Bus1 and Bus 2
Be great to see a video explanation of some of these setups, especially how to back engineer whats going on.
Cheers
Many thanks! Extremely helpful. Will be back for more.
👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Great for me, the beginner. Exactly what I‘m/was searching for!
Super, super tutorial! 🙏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
This is really helpful man thank you so much
Please never stop making Logic tutorials
your output is clipping all the time, you could have put all the faders down, so you actually wouldn't need the limiter which kills the sound of the drums and made them sound phasy, you need more headroom anyways, also it is a great tool to send from those bustracks to other buses, where you can use parallel compression, especially for making drums punchy and vocals cut through
cheers, your videos are nice =D
SUPER HELPFUL! Thank you!!
Nice video, I learned a few tricks of the trade.
Great Job!
Great Info, I'm not sure about boosting the drums and the guitars at the same 2k freq. though. very helpful and excellent tutorial on submix aux tracks. Thanks :-)
Thank you for your knowledge
Thank you for the great video! but I am having a problem with panning after I bus my tracks. I am unable to pan the individual tracks, the sound still comes out of both speakers even if I pan hard right or hard left. I am also using Logic 9 btw (i know old school) maybe that's the issue?
Thank you! This was really helpful
Thank you so much for your help!
Cool video dude! Thanks.
Thanks! This was very helpful!
Clear and helpful.
amazing videos!!!!
Thank you so much!! Great tutorial!!
Excellent!
Hey I have a question: Is there a possibility in Logic pro X to move automations on a bus channel (Aux) with regions?
So can a project in total shift by several bars? (there is the possibility to move regions and the associated automations on the tracks) but also the bus automations at the same time?
Would be really happy about an answer !!
Very good!!!
Extremely helpful! Do you recommend EQing the raw audio and then bussing out to effects? Or should your EQ be part of the bus channel as well?
Great video
Amazing Tutorial!!
Cheers, really handy
Hey man i want to guitars panned opposite ways. I send them to a bus and add valhalla shimmer on the buss. Now shimmer for each guitar palys on both sides of my headphone. How can i prevent that
Definitely got my sub!! 🙌🏾😩
THANK YOU finally i understand
Thank you.
Joshua, u have the best tutorials bro. Thank you so much. If you are grouping all guitar rhythm for example to an aux mix by changing “Output” link. In what scenario would u use the “Sends” link above to output?
Hi, thanks for your videos.
I did exactly the same you did with the buses. But now that I want to solo the drum master or any of those, it stops sounding. I can't control them.
Nice tutorial , me i find it easier when i have my mixer colour coded excaclty the same as the arrange window, and my buses also have the same colours as the group of instruments they correspond to !
Hello, I have watching all the previous videos for this Logic Pro X serie but only this one I can't habilitation the subtitles. Can you able the subtitles of this tutorial?
Congrats for the videos.
Thank you !
Love your work! Could you also get the same result from Track-Stacking?
thank you...I learnt a lot
So what plugins in edm on buss channels are best plugins to use some waVe compressor as u said previously, maybe eq and thats just for drums right ? what about leads and fx bus channel the same i guess but meybe a bit more plugins ??
So I just purchased the Behringer Uphoria UMC404HD and need some help. When I plug the mic into input 1 it works fine. When I plug another mic into input 2 there is no signal. The only way I get a signal from input 2 if I add another track and set the input setting to Input 2. If I add a third mic I have to go in and add another track and set that input setting to input 3. So I guess what I am asking you all is there a way in Logic Pro X that I can connect the three mics without them all having to be on separate tracks? I would like all three mics to be on the same track.
Very helpful even for self learners.
This is very clever! seeing and listening at same time is what helps a LOT to understand the concept :D
A question: an Aux send, is the same, or can work the same as a Submix track? or I must create both?
Thank you so much! learned a lot with yout tutorials!
This song and your videos are dope! Do you have any videos or tips on recording electric guitars? You probably already have some videos posted about that topic, I may have missed it.
Pls, I need help, someone: I can't reduce down to only my aux tracks in order to do my sub-master mix. Despite following instruction to hide my audio & instruments by clicking on the relevant tabs, It doesn't carry out the function. Why? By mistake I did first activate my bus tracks in the 'send' area of the channel strips. I couldn't delete them, so I just repeated the procedure in the 'output' area also.
I'm using summing tracks to group my kicks on one hand, my snares on the other hand, and lets say my cymbals. How can I make a summing track or a bus tracks called DRUMS to, after mixing inside each summing stack individually, be able to control the whole drums?
Awesome video! Based on what you did, I'm assuming all panning should be done before sending to a buss? Should a buss ever be panned? and lastly should all buses be in stereo? Thank you
HOW DO YOU MOVE AUX TRACKS ETC AROUND IN THE MIXER LOGIC PRO X. THANKS
Hi! Is it possible to send a buss into another buss? For example, I have been making dance tracks and have seen videos telling me to send a clap and snare into a snare buss, then bussing the snare buss to a drum buss. Is that ok to do?
Thanks in advance, your videos are amazing.
Scott
great. thanks!
I don't think anyone in the film/ TV post production industry would call this a submaster. I used to work in postproduction for NBC Universal in LA and a "submaster" is a finished product like a movie that exists either as a digital video tape or as a video file that is ready to be sent out to the client (such as HBO or Netflix) and be broadcast or streamed. It is either dubbed from a "master" video tape or video file or from another submaster tape or video file. "Submix" is the preferred nomenclature in the post production world for grouping channels and sending them to a single aux channel. Analog video tape is a rare thing today but you do occasionally see them used as a source. But they try to back up old media regularly by transferring it on to new media as a way of archiving them.
How can I send all vocals into three different aux channels ? Essentially an all vox copy in three aux channels.
@MusicTechHelpGuy You have inspirational disciplines and can teach. As per this video, your audio is easy on the ears. I don't exactly know what it is but your speech speed and dynamics along with your choice of words are working towards easy comprehension.
So I have just started mixing some stuff and am using sub mixes for different instrument groups. It is really useful when trying to get those final balances. All great but what I have realised is that the outputs of the Aux tracks is going straight to the Stereo Out. I could route them to the sub mix groups but some of them are shared. Any thoughts? Just upgraded from GB so a bit new to this aspect of it all.
great Tutorial man!! question? I make beats on fl studio and I master my tracks there, bounce them and record on logic. can I still make submixes on vocals and so on? I know I can't do that for the instruments due to already be on track together.
+J & A Productions Yep. I'll typically group the vocals together (if there are stacked vocals) and compress them a bit more. It also gives you an overall vocal level control.
I'm a drummer who's new to home recording/mixing , first of all your tutorials are the most informitive and easy to follow on youtube , I've been learning Logic mostly from your page so thank you < but id like to know how you move your mixer around the page like that , that is sooo useful ?????
Hey MusicTechHelpGuy great tutorial man... that siren, hope the ambulance got there on time...
A quick suggestion: right-click on the mixer, choose 'configure channel strip components' and change 'Track Name' to 2 or 3 Lines. Makes it far easier to see what's on a channel.
So glad I saw this man. This tip is literally a lifesaver for those who don't know.
great tutorial!
Thanks!
Hi, I have an audio file sampled from a music and I want to get rid of the piano to just keep the bass. Is it possible, and if yes, how can I do this ? Thanks
so what is the difference between creating a bus through output vs creating a bus through sends?
Hi i have heard there is a way to create a path to send some or all of a reverb from a acoustic guitar (panned to the opposite side that it is panned) and doing this for both recordings from both mics to make sound fuller. This came out confusing cause its confusing to me, ive heard it and there is a big difference....can you please help me!!!
thank you
Hi, I have a quick question!
If you pull all the volumes down, wouldn't that be the same as bringing down the master output?
How can I delete/ungroup a stack? Cant seem to find the way. thx
Need discussion about using Logic's VCAs, which are as powerful than Aux grouping.
If you have automated the volume on one of the separate channels and then sent that channel to a bus, how would this be affected by changing the volume on the aux channel?
I put my drums on the same bus, then tried to do filter sweep using automaton , nothing happened, how anybody help please?
Is the a difference between Bus and VCA on logic pro?
HI again, I was wondering in this vide #66... what are your capture Aux and Capture Out Buses ? Sorry if I missed something said before...and thanks again for all of these ! Happy new year 2016 by the way !
whats the difference between buses in sends vs output buses? :S
Hi, love your videos. Super helpful. Was wondering is busing the same as track stacking ?
Thanks✊🏾✊🏾
Logic isn't letting me bus any tracks to anywhere, it only goes to the stereo out track. It lets me select which bus to put it on, but not where the output goes. ):
Is creating a stack better or sending the output aux tracks better because I seem to end up with too many aux tracks with both the sends and reverb aux tracks
What's the difference between sending to a bus (via Send) and directing the Output to a Bus?
This was the thing that was alluding me, I have just jumped into recording my tracks and was perplexed at buses and aux and couldn't get any further, all my different instruments were going to the same bus1. Thanks for doing these videos it means a lot to me rather than people just saying "thanks ".You deserve more as your teaching clear, concise and relaxed. BIG THANK YOU, MAN.
