  • Made In Heaven: Queen's Grand Finale
In this video I will be reviewing Queen's 1995 album Made In Heaven. Is this album solely a collection of reworked tracks and a few new songs? Or is Made In Heaven an album that is well worth listening to? Well today, I will be answering those questions.

I’ve always liked this album. Sure there’s material we’ve heard before and the ending is kinda long, but it still admirable to hear all the passion and love that the others put in for Freddie. There’s not really one bad song on the album and Freddie sounded really good, especially in Mother Love (which is possibly the saddest Queen song up there with No One But You). I think that my biggest problem is that they didn’t use enough unfinished material. They could’ve made a version of Let Me in Your Heart Again or finished Self Made Man? However, for what this album is, it could’ve been worse.

This is one of my favorite albums. Knowing the effort put forth by Freddie makes it all the more special. Track 13 is full of mixed emotions. It’s beautiful and eerie at the same time. When I heard Freddie’s voice echoing it brought me to tears. To me if feels like his final exit. For me Freddie will forever be the voice of Queen. ❤️💙❤️💙❤️💙❤️

I think Made In Heaven is a fantastic album. Roger, Brian, and John did the best they could do with the limited material they had. The only reason there isn’t that much “new” material is because Freddie died during the completion of the album. When your lead singer dies while you’re making an album, it’s kinda hard to get new material, just saying.

    Hi Fine arts ,
EMI where putting them under pressure to make a final album , Freddie sat on a chair through most of the recording of this album , with the little content and time they had , I think it was a perfect album to end with and it is and will always be my favourite.I grew up with Queen I am 65 years old , it was very apt that they gave the album to EMI after Freddie's passing , Made in Heaven , there you have it.....a masterpiece last album.

I'm literally the only person who thinks the Brian May solo version of 'Too Much Love Will Kill You' is better, but this will explain why it is so:
Like Fine Arts said, Brian May is by no means a bad vocalist. In fact, Brian May is actually quite the underrated vocalist if you ask me. You see, the first time I heard this particular song was when I was going through a dark time in my life. I still am, sadly.😢
I was completely moved to tears by it, because what Brian May was going through at the time was a struggle: he wrote the song because of his troubled first marriage which resulted in a divorce. What I was going through at the time was breaking up with Jacob, who completely betrayed me, accusing me of horrible things I'd never do and telling me I had "no friends". I even considered suicide when that happened, but there were other reasons why I had, and still have, depression.
But Brian saved my life. If I hadn't seen BoRhap in the movie theater, I would have been lynched by now.
Just the pain in his voice was all because of what he was going through, and it was not just Freddie's death by the time this song ORIGINALLY came out. I even wrote a letter to him mentioning what I'm going through and I gave that particular song a mention, along with other underrated Queen tunes, and just this month, he wrote back, with an autographed picture of him at the 2012 Summer Olympics with the sweetest message ever: "To Sophie with love, lots and lots of LOVE!!!!" Brian is really the sweetest guy ever.
I hope someday my parents come to accept my mental health.

Honestly, in an alternate dimension where Freddie never got sick or at least made it for another few years, I think Queen would've had to heavily alter their sound in order to fit in with the 90s. The Grunge/Alternative movement heavily contrasted with the cheesiness of Hair Metal and Synth Pop in the 80s. I think Queen would've had to scrap the Synths and develop a more organic hard rock sound.
Plus, Roger Taylor's drumming on A Kind Of Magic, The Miracle, and Innuendo had a lot of reverb on it and sounded artificial, making Queen sound almost Hair Metal-like, so they might've had to scrap that too. You don't need to look far for an example of the massive amounts of reverb on Roger's drumming as Hammer To Fall, Princes of The Universe and The Show Must Go On had a lot of artificial reverb on the drumming
I picture a Post-Innuendo Queen having a much more stripped back and organic Hard Rock sound akin to that of their Early-Mid 70s output, perhaps something remotely close to sounding like Soundgarden. I also think that Freddie's voice might have felt the side effects of aging and subsequently would probably have demanded more slow and less demanding ballads to sing. John Deacon might have still left also

Hey FA. - thanks for noticing me earlier, “” MADE IN HEAVEN “” , personally I think the band was fulfilling an unspoken promise to , “ go on “ , to their friend, a friend they loved, but didn’t know how deeply until the end, but, more importantly , how deeply, “ after “ , he was gone. . . . QUEEN was more than just a * Group * . ... Freddie was * MORE * , than just a singer. The sum total of four human beings was much greater and brighter than any one of them was or ever could be alone. HEY F.A. there was a time Freddie sang LIVE, just him and the piano, QUEEN was there, but this songs debut they had planned . I don’t remember the location, and Freddie performed “” You Take My Breath Away “”, Now unless you are a hopeless romantic with a broken heart that will never never heal, then , , the song means little or next to nothing to you, however if you are the aforementioned, you know, YOU KNOW, , that Freddie could not have written, played or sung without his FRIENDS, without QUEEN , being the sum total greater than its parts. Feels like to me the album you just reviewed, unless you’re a hopeless romantic with a broken heart that will never heal,, then, , , then this album may mean something different . ( You done a GREAT JOB FA , I liked your review, and your re-review, and your honesty, but most of all your brought some QUEEN back into the world on a GREAT VIDEO, and a lot of work editing, scripting, compiling , all that, GOOD JOB, and thank you , thank you very much )@chamberlaincoffee.com

I bought it on CD in late 1995 as an afterthought being a big fan. It’s an awkward album and what I dislike is the Freddie solo tracks being used although Brian May plays some fantastic guitar on the track Made In Heaven itself. I actually bought the double even though I have the 1995 white LP. The lyrics to Let Me Live are a bit poor and the shared verses I don’t like, and the last verse of Mother Live I don’t like as Brian had to finish it.
My Life Has Been Saved is still a week track after being re-recorded. The melody is like the solo in Something by The Beatles. It’s not a fun album in comparison to Innuendo. But they had to make this album to be able to move on. It was a Queen album for the remaining members of Queen.
On CD and first pressing the vocal on the track Made In Heaven has far too much treble but it’s cut back on this new pressing thankfully. I also wish they used the darker blue photo cover for this press too. I think the album is almost better than The Miracle.
