I mean, we just played the games, Sonic LIVED THEM. He's time traveled a grand total of THREE TIMES including here, beaten MULTIPLE monsters, has a TON of friends, and gotten a BUNCH of new abilities (such as turning into a FREAKIN' WEREWOLF WITH STRETCHY ARMS AND SUPER STRENGTH). Yeah, a couple of Sonic's games were total trash fires, but if you took out the glitches and looked at it all from Sonic's point of view, yeah, his future IS gonna be great! C:

Silver wasn't aware that Sonic wasn't a threat and was actually his friend until his memories were restored after the Rival Battle. Sonic's past had been entirely erased at the start of the game. That would mean all of his friendships and connections would be affected as well, including Silver. There ya go, I hope that was an accurate (somewhat) in-depth explanation

Okay. How is this only 77 on Metacritic?! This game is seriously a masterpiece and, in my opinion, saved the franchise WAY before Sonic Mania did six years later.
I’m a year late, but…
It’s understandable. Half the bosses in this video feel really gimmicky. Metal Sonic, the Egg Dragoon, and Time Eater are all bangers, but the others have really bizarre win conditions. Like, shoot meteors at Shadow? Just strikes me as weird. Same thing in Forces, with the final boss being beaten by you chucking rocks at him.
The levels and music are great though, can’t fault you for that.

If you get rid of sonic’s past self alone, you also get rid of the present sonic.
Thus beating sonic
Beating your past self doesn't affect your timeline, it only creates more of them.

The Shadow the Hedgehog Rival Battle is an excellent spot to grind for Rings for extra lives.
Stormlite Magfreeze XPR you can also buy extra lives at the Skill Shop
Yup, I managed to get 30 lives from that battle xD (I did play it over and over, in case you wondered)

Shadow the CZcamsr it's literally the best boss area to farm lives on (even though that means that you doesn't get more lives after you get 300 rings though, wich kind of sucks)
builderRas 16 ok and I guess they wanted to limit the extra lives obtained from hundreds of rings cuz you can get them from the Skill Shop anyway

And not only that, here is is spoiler comment. Silver and Shadow were never at the party to begin with because if they were, they wouldn't be boss fights. Now Shadow is known as an 'anti-hero' which means he is a neutral. Which means he will either be good to Sonic, or try to beat Sonic's ass. So in Generations, he decided to go into the 'kick Sonic's ass' side. Silver though, (Or Mr. Metal,) we don't know if he's a good guy, bad guy, or neutral. We can guess he is a neutral since he was stupid enough to go to the 'kick Sonic's ass' side since he though he was the Iblis Trigger. But then he understood that Sonic was not the Iblis Trigger, so we thought he went into the 'be good to Sonic' side. But now in Generations, this could not be true. But when you talk to him to trigger the fight, he says this: "Sonic, is that really you? Or are you a fake sent for the Chaos Emeralds?" I like calling this, Mr. Metal's Conspiracy Theory. That is understandable since Silver was from the future and never met Sonic. But he does know who Sonic IS. but in Sonic 06, Elise put out the candle which meant that Solaris no longer exists. But yet again, Crisis City still exists. Now once Silver and Shadow got their asses kicked they decided to help Sonic at the end. And then they were teleported to the party. At least they got To the party again. Like if this explanation was helpful. And like I said, this was a spoiler comment. So I think I might've spoiled 3% of the game.
