    When I tell you Tori has had an understanding of her voice since childhood. Most wouldn't believe me. She is amazing ❤️👌🏿. This performance was one for the books. I love your analysis.

    Jacob is using the ‘harmonizer,’ an instrument he developed along with an engineer from MIT.

    • @Joshsclips
      @Joshsclips Před měsícem +2

      Yeah OP seemed to think Jacob was using some sort of autotune mixed with a pre-recorded vocal patch, lol. Nah that's his raw voice being fed in real-time into the keyboard, and spread across the chords of his choice. Granted, he has effects he can add to it, which he's shown individually before in a video somewhere on Instagram

    Love love love your analyses and also love these artists. John has such a special voice to me, so many different textures and he really colors his voice and music.

    Jacob’s arrangement reminds me of a river. He starts as a peaceful stream that gets stronger, building and building until it’s massive a river with currents pulling every direction. John’s richness and depth of voice representing the growth. Tori’s runs at the end showing the waves and turbulence of the troubled waters.
    Also, come on Ohio!

      Originally supposed to be? The original is a song of comfort and peace... I think they took the blueprint and made it their own. We don't disrespect the offerings of those who came before us and laid foundations.

    I really don't know how to describe it, but I think you have to be one of my absolute favourite people, who I also find slightly annoying 😅
    Probably what I mean by that, is it seems like you have this energetic personality that you adopt and this simple description style early in your videos to attract the attention of your less knowledgeable vocal viewers (you're not doing it consciously I feel, just getting more technical and excited as the video progresses), but then by the end of the video it's just abundantly clear how well you know your stuff. Like "thin fold" and vocal folds (instead of vocal cord misconception), and how quickly you identify fry and other elements just proves your obsession and knowledge in vocal anatomy, and I love it. You also force yourself to be humble after flawlessly nailing an incredible high note, you're like "I can't do it like she does though!" I feel like no matter how good of a vocalist you are, that's the mindset you need to have. Great video!

      That’s a software that’s used by many musicians…it combines the chords Jacob is playing on the keys with his words so he can control the harmonies

    • @JimiChristopher
      @JimiChristopher Před měsícem

      Not software used by many musicians , nor take 6. That keyboard is called the harmoniser and was made by Jacob collier and his friend Ben Bloomberg, it is not auto tune. It is sampling Jacobs voice in real time into the notes he plays in the chords/harmonies so we are hearing both.

    your compressor's too hot on your audio and you can let the singers shine, too. you don't have to repeat every phrase, we here the phrases :)

    • @Joshsclips
      @Joshsclips Před měsícem +1

      I've actually never commented on the pausing during a reaction video before, on any channel, because it generally doesn't bother me. If someone has something they wanna say about what they just watched and they don't wanna lose track of that thought by finishing the video, pausing makes sense for that. Not to repeat *every single phrase* the entire way through though... and to do so inaccurately a good bit of the time (almost all of the reasoning for the phrasing is Jacob's accent and natural singing voice, which is long and rounded)... Pausing every 5 seconds makes you lose track of the feeling and flow of the song as well- you never get to feel the momentum carrying you in different directions in this unique arrangement. Granted, this reaction seemed to be entirely about analyzing the phrasing of each syllable, and not any of the actual chords or the performance itself.

    • @dieterdohlen6386
      @dieterdohlen6386 Před měsícem

      @@Joshsclips Yeah, I didn't wanna say that, but the notes on the runs are different from your typical pentatonic runs, cause Jacob created them. If a singing coach sings totally different runs, that really doesn't help people trying to learn this song...

  • @danielletildamoro9706
    @danielletildamoro9706 Před měsícem +1

    Impressive technically but lost the heart and earnesty and simplicity of the song.
    There are songs where you can do all of those vocal calisthenics and riffs and runs but this song is NOT IT.

    • @randall4528
      @randall4528 Před měsícem +3

    • @stewiegriffin993
      @stewiegriffin993 Před měsícem +4

      i know what you mean, but my thinking is - this song has had every imaginable take possible, each trying to capture the song in a new light. so how do you do anything remotely new to it other than an unashamedly maximalist approach to the song like this one, don't any cover has ever tried it til now
