00:40. Melrose. It's still very much there as it is a listed and restored building, complete with canopy and all very much as seen here. It clung to the side of a hill and the remaining down platform is entered from the carpark one storey below. The offices are a restuarant/pub. The up platform was removed for the road connecting the A7 at Galashiels with the A68 at Jedburgh. The up platform toilets are now on the Severn Valley Railway and there is film of them being removed from Melrose about 1971.
It's nice but sad to see this video. I've always wanted to see footage of the Galashiels- Peebles, Edinburgh route. It was probably a better candidate for restoration. It was flatter, but longer, and gave access to more population along the Tweed Valley. It would make a very handy circuit too, going back via the old Waverley Route that is now reopened.

More forgotten memories re-awakened, Alrx. Thank you. 🎯
Railways-wise, this upload is 'All Our Yesterdays'. Now we have 'All Our Todays' ... And, for me, a somewhat *perplexing* question: In what condition will future Scots et al. find 'All Our Tomorrows'? Metaphysical meanderings from R F, as usual. Pelters welcome!
Stay free. Bye for now, A. R 🍻😎

Judging by the abrupt end this must come from a longer film. I'd love to know what it is so I can track it down.

@@alrxanderwylie6512 Pomathorn Halt is about 5 minutes from me and that's the first movie footage I've seen of it. I can remember DMUs at Walkerburn from boyhood holidays. I actually lived next to the old Princes St. to Leith North line in Edinburgh as a boy. I think the rest of that film will be interesting regardless of where it is.
