some things I want to share guys. I remember I was once told by a DR to avoid eating spicy foods, coffee, and minimise white bread but never took it seriously. Drs really help most of the time, when they tell you to avoid something in case you are sick, please do so if you really want to be healthy. And I like the way you guys are advising one another in this group... keep it up

I hear you! and this can be scary too. Right now I'm sick but I think I know why. For awhile now I eat dinner then go lay down, weather related due to how hot it's been around here 90's + and I think the combination is what did it. I've had this before too; went to the emergency room only to find out it was "heartburn". I'm glad it was only that. Right now I feel sick to my stomach, a headache I can't seem to ditch but I'm taking asperine and try to sleep sitting up. So far that helps along with 1 teaspoon baking soda with cold water 8 ounces. Drink it all then sit up til it takes effect. Let me know what happens. Sorry your not feeling well. Regards

Try eating red apples to neutralize too much acid in the stomach which often leads to acid reflux. Red apples are known to have alkaline properties which can neutralize acid. I used red apples to get rid of acid reflux. No more worries on eating any kind of food. Simply eat a red apple when you are experiencing hyper-acidity in the stomach or acid reflux.

Your problem is probably caused by anxiety. Do deep breathing and strengthen your diaphragm, try yoga. Also, if you take a PPI for a long time you should reduce your dose gradually, not just stop it all at once, because what you described starts happening. Try different antacids and see if any of them works better for you and watch your diet. I hope you're making sure you take the PPI first thing in the morning and that you're waiting at least half an hour before you eat anything. Also, you could have H. Pylori, get tested for it stat if you haven't. You do not want ulcers and cancer, and that's exactly what it causes.

You might have a hernia. But yes, you're probably not managing your symptoms and diet well and it keeps getting inflamed over and over, that's why doctors prescribe acid neutralizers, so it can get some rest and heal. You do not want the consequences of having reflux reaching your esophagus repeatedly. Do what ty says, your diaphragm can make up for the lack of strength of that little buddy.
Also, manage your stress/anxiety. Make that a priority.

If it's really bad, pantoprazole first thing in the morning, then you wait 30-60m without eating or drinking. It starts working in about a week or two.
Sucralfate is also very good. If you take both, wake up, take pantoprazole, wait 30 min, take sucralfate, wait 1 hour and then you can eat. This combination made me heal really fast. Also, sucralfate before bed. But you have to be really strict about it, absolutely no eating or drinking after you take the medicine for an hour.
If you need quick relief, gaviscon, maalox plus, tums, anything with magnesium hydroxide, aluminium hydroxide is good. Gaviscon is good because it forms a protective layer.

Deep breathing, do it, aim for 10m two times a day(morning and bed time or when you feel anxious, the more you do it and the more you master it, the more effect it has) and then increase it.
Lie down with your head on a pillow, one hand on your stomach and one hand on your chest.
Inhale while you fill your stomach making sure your chest is not raising for 4 seconds.
Hold your breath for 7 seconds, and then slowly exhale for 8 seconds while you lower your stomach until it's fully down. Slowly restart, focusing on the numbers. The point here is "hacking" your body into calming down and training your ability to focus and regain focus when you lose it.
Avoid any stimulus and focus on counting. You will feel yourself getting distracted, once you notice this, go back to focusing on counting, it's ok to get distracted, just remember to always get back to focusing on your breathing as soon as you notice it.
You're practicing regaining focus and not letting your mind wander - this is an insanely good tool against anxiety.
I thought it was bullshit until my GERD was so bad it gave me pain around my heart which caused more anxiety, which worsened the GERD and so on.
So I really gave it a try. At first, it will feel like it doesn't do much. Keep at it, you will feel it start to work.
I do it for like 30m two times a day and my anxiety is so much better, my mind doesn't go into those horrible thought loops and surprisingly if you're constipated you can do it in the bathroom and it will make you poop, I've stopped panic attacks with it. It's incredibly powerful.
You're probably feeling like you can't breathe deeply because of gas in your intestines which pushes against your diaphragm. I know what that is, feeling that every day, with CoViD around. Doesn't help with anxiety. Deep breathing strengthens your diaphragm. When you're doing it you'll notice that the need to have that deep breath that relieves you disappears, and you'll notice probably your intestines relaxing and your ability to have those deep breaths return. And some farts.
Stop eating only once a day, you're a human being like any other, you deserve dignity, you deserve better and your body deserves better so take care of yourself better!
And if you feel like crying, cry, get it all out. If you need to, watch a sad movie or look at videos of dogs being crazy happy after seeing their owners return home from military service or anything of the sort. You will feel relaxed, it's awful to feel the need to cry and not being able to.
And see a doctor, don't let that anxiety turn into depression. It just piles up and you don't want to be in that hole. I know it's easy to talk, all I can say is you are having negative thought patterns which are affecting the way you see the world and anxiety precipitates that. It makes you imagine a thousand scenarios in your head in which you suck and everything is shit and makes you terrified of the future and it turns into a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's your brain playing shitty tricks on you. Try the exercise, it's just breathing, nothing to lose, and force some food down your gob more than once a day! How can you think straight without the nutrients you need for your brain to work? You deserve better, man. I hope this helps.

    • @genericnamethingy
      @genericnamethingy Před 3 lety +1

The secret to being able to take those deep breaths is slowing down your breathing instead of trying desperately to feel that relief. Try what I suggested and you'll feel much better, trust me. I like to do it on my side too, fetal position, holding on to a pillow, it's comforting.

    6. Avoid sour, spicy and fatty foods
    7. Eat slowly and eat little
    8. Walk 20-30 mins after each meal
    9. Sleep atleast 6-8 hours everyday
    10. Take deep breathes, when im feeling stressed
    11. Take a break when im feeling tired
    12. Practice deep breathing exercises
    13. Meditate
    14. Write on my notebook to express my feelings when im being anxious
    15. Talk to your family, friends love ones if you need help.
    16. Drink probiotics

Extremely annoying that NO ONE knows the cause of this freaking pain. Changing diet is only the curing the symptoms.
