As an alien I can confirm: we do not build our UFO’s out of ice
As an ice, we do not build UFO's.
IT'S EVERYWHERE WHAT
Strange, we build our out of ice. From which galaxy are you?
We build our one of minecraft blocks, sorry if i said something wrong my galaxy doesnt know english very well
I am a Namekian and no we do not build our spaceships out of ice. The material is similar to you clay but still different. (Don’t ask me how)
@@snakeoil7416 I hail from Good Egg Galaxy. Ours are made of pure calcium carbonate. In human terms, Yoshi eggs.
My theory about Mewtwo's final smash exclusion is that its a final smash that deals damage in a very unique way. Rather than being a standard damaging hitbox, its a projectile hitbox that inflicts a status effect on the victim, which causes them to take a big hit at a later time. It's possible that the spirit effect had to be manually flagged as compatible with each type of attack final smashes can be, and Mewtwo's being so distinct led to it being an overlooked edge case in development.
Either that or they classified it as psychic damage
So like this is the same thing that I thought I think bc I thought it thought the big ball is the attack which does nothing so multiplied that but since it does nothing it does nothing when multiplied and the hit after that isn’t counted as a final smash
What if it’s just psychic damage/psi damage? Would a spirit that boosts that do anything?
@@Hoppy8625 I tried it with psi, magic and aura spirits (separately of course) and the damage was the same each time. and the wiki (which I read after the fact) confirms that spirits don't work on it. Just a weird quirk of this FS.
That makes sense, I thought so too. And if that's the case, then the boost is probably applied to the projectile. And a 30% boost of 0 damage is still 0.
As an alien I can confirm we don't always make our UFOs out of ice
in my planet (flœkḻe from the galaxy of fṟæn) we pretty much always do. Nice to see some (as the english speaking humans say) cultural differences
it brings me a great joy that you always cut right after characters are hit or ko'ed for my viewer satisfaction
Spirits probably don’t work on mewtwo’s final smash because the projectile is just a searchbox, and the damage afterwards is separate
Also, with the king of fighters fact, I saw Luigi quickly teleport towards the blast zone before dying (the magnifying glass got smaller). I don’t really know what that means but it’s certainly something. Also, dying below king of fighters is probably very similar to jigglypuff dying at the top of great plateau tower. You touch terrain outside the blast zone so you just die
I think if you used Mario or Ryu's final smash is more similar to Mewtwo's, cause Link's feels more like a line of hitbox rather than an actual projectile
I had the same thought but instead of Mario I thought of mega man, but I did realise that he kind of overlooked Ryu
Mario don't count as a projectile either
Programmer here - your explaination for why Steve broke ice is likely the reason, but in a more nuanced way. They likely had to completely re-map every single stage to be compatible with Steve (hence why Steve's update was weirdly large) as they probably used a completely different tagging system for 'zones' on a stage. For example, you might have a 'zone' which is tagged as 'ice' and becomes slippery, or one that is tagged as 'lava' and given a hurtbox, etc.
Anyways, when you get to complex stages like Mario Maker which have multiple different layouts depending on RNG, you might run into things even as simple as an oversight or miscommuication between team(member)s leading to entire sections being tagged improperly, or going completely untagged. It happens more often than you'd think, though I'd usually expect it to be fixed within a couple patches if discovered.
Another possible (though less likely) option is that their zoning system didn't allow for multiple different conditional zones occupying the same space. Most if not all of the smaller groupings of ice on Mario Maker also overlap with blocks on other layouts. If the system they used wasn't robust enough to allow for conditional overlapping zones, you could reasonably run into situations where you have to prioritize gameplay over total accuracy. I'd much rather something which is dirt 90% of the time always be dirt, instead of always ice for the 10% of time where that would be accurate. Though, oddly enough I don't see the small indie studio that is Nintendo having this particular issue.
my guess for the corrin side special glitch is that the airborne buff spirits replace a set of values for stats, but side special also does that to make corrin heavier. so when the stats change again they lose the weight change
I'm pretty sure PKB just "discovered" that in-game translations are inaccurate. Surprise...
Often "power" is a blanket term to mean the overall strength of the attack, not only the damage.
@@YounesLayachi just commenting here since your attitude annoyed me.
The impact "Air Attack" has on the move doesn't stack when using multiple spirits, which contradicts basically all other spirit stacking effects. Even more obviously, the "Air Defense" spirit *that he shows off* has the same impact despite not having move strength/power listed anywhere in the description and being an entirely different spirit, so being so brash in claiming it's a translation error is just ignorant.
@@YounesLayachi well it happened in the defense one too so it probably isn’t intentional and s what I’m saying
@@ripstick4591 you agree that the text is inaccurate ?
Nobody knows what the translators really wanted to say... I just mentioned a different interpretation, to illustrate the vagueness of such terms
I love how you had the other character besides steve correspond with the stage. Its like steve is visiting and they're like "Make yourself at home"
Truthfully thank you for putting pocket tanks music in the background. I grew up playing that game with my dad.
Yeeeee pocket tankss
I say mewtwo’s final smash shoots a projectile then they are given the damage because an affect of the projectile so it isn’t technically the final smash and the big orb is but does 0 damage
Yet another stolen comment

@@achannel467 nope
I literally made it because funny also literally they said to
As an alien I can confirm we sometimes make our UFOs out of ice
A little bit of programming insight re: Steve's mining stuff.
I'm not THAT experienced as a programmer, but I know some common pitfalls. For instance, if they had not assigned a 'default' material to mine from, the game would probably throw an error or crash or something, due to probably a null reference exception. It'd be referencing a table of items that doesn't exist, which would result in it pulling up nothing, probably crashing the game or soft-locking/halting steve's movements for the rest of the entire match...
So yeah, we set defaults for values so that we know what will happen if something goes wrong. My attacks will deal 0 damage by default, for instance. I certainly don't want them to deal null damage. That's sort of like dealing 0 damage, except it'll freeze the attack's logic and possibly have other unintended effects!
Also I'm willing to bet (although don't be too eager to test this anyone), that if you were to fall for long enough outside of the bounds of the King of Fighters stage, you would either wrap around to the top of the stage, or you would reach a point where floating point imprecision finds it hard to keep track of your precise position, therefore halting your ability to fall entirely. It depends on how the coordinates are set up in the game engine. There are probably other options for what would happen, but probably nothing would happen unless you fell for millions of kilometers.
Alien here; No, we do not use ice to make our ships. Sakurai is making a mockery of us.
As an alien, my family does make our UFOs out of ice.
11:50 seeing this makes me realize how many cool stages I've missed playing tourney legal so long. I didn't even know that transition existed or that there was any more to that stage
Yeah, competitive kinda just sucks the fun out of the game
Wait, if you haven’t beaten WoL does that mean you’ve never played the master hand segment!? Its so sick!
4:36 I WAS SEARCHING THAT GAME MY WHOLE LIFE, I KNEW THERE WAS A GAME I PLAYED ABOUT TANKS PVP, THANK YOU FOR REMINDING ME ITS NAME AND EXISTENCE
pjiggles: **posts video about how he dislikes spirits after collecting them all**
pkbeats: **posts video about how he likes spirits after not collecting them all**
This video really helped to quell my anxiety especially with the calming music at the end. Thank you so much
POCKET TANKS now that's a throwback. I have so much nostalgia for that game
16:00 imagine someone performing this in a tournament and timing out their opponent
I like how you are implementing more personality into these videos and explanations. I find the change to be more entertaining and relatable as a viewer. Keep it up :)
Fun fact: on moray towers if you play a splatfest song (ink me up, muck warefare) the stage will be nighttime
Fact: You know how items used in training mode don't count towards combo meter, making it red? I found out when using the support spirit fast drop (makes you go down very fast and does damage when you hit someone, like with kaclang) it also makes the combo meter red.
As an alien, personally I don’t make my UFO’s out of ice but I have heard of some aliens doing so.
I think if you leave pyra and mythra swaping in the wall of kof stadium for a inderteminate amount of time, either they will loop through the bottom to the top (like in the mario bros stage) or the game will crash due to a floating point exception. I would love to see a video of that, because there is nothing more fun than "doing x thing for x hours crashes x game".
I'm pretty sure the reward for beating world of light is that you can change the music in the menu
YOOOOOOOO POCKET TANKS
THAT GAME IS SO NOSTALGIC FOR ME
I GOT A WHOLE BUNCH OF THE EXPANSION PACKS
IVE NEVER SEEN ANYONE ELSE TALK ABOUT IT BEFORE
If i not wrong, the dirt get replaced with ice, the same happens with the sand, so it's the same block but with different properties for stage, then the devs have to choose one of them for each. So the Mario Maker and custom stages get the default dirt because makes more sense.
POCKET TANKS? I've legit never seen anyone outside my own family talk about this game. I spent many hours playing pocket tanks deluxe on my iPhone 4 instead of sleeping, it was my go-to. Even went back to it like ten years later to introduce to my brother
I wonder what would happen if you got way out of bounds using Pyra/Mythra and tried to pause the game during an actual match? I don’t know the details of how that camera works, but it actually stops the game, unlike Training Mode.
As an alien, I can confirm that I'm allergic to the sound of sirens.
i always love to see random smash facts that i know i’ll forget immediately after watching the video 🫶🫶
I don't even own a switch, I just like hearing random gaming facts
Petition to have PKBeats finish World of Light on this channel, or restart and do it from beginning to end.
For airshots as clean as those? You GOTTA subscribe.
Pocket tanks and super dx ball were my jam as a kid. I still play them to this day.
I fucking love pocket tanks, immediatly redowloaded it after you mentioned it
Pocket Tanks is a name I haven't heard in a whiiiiiiiiiiiiiiile brooooo! My first addiction when I had an ipad LOL and that music still bangs to this day! :D
I think spirits don’t work with Mewtwo’s final smash because it might be coded to apply a status effect that is responsible for the damage.
The commentary and humour was my favourite part of this video
Another banger video
Bro…The pocket tanks mention was so wild. I was trying to see if any of my friends had played it, and they hadn’t. So seeing it mentioned was wild
4:37 I played pocket tanks in therapy with my therapist when we finished a session early
As a bird, I can confirm we make our nests out of ice
Your attitude in this video is so funny lollllllllllllll >W<
I love you lol >w
I am SO hyped for the tears content
Me and my grandpa used to play pocket tanks ALL the time! Thank you for those memories.
4:42 😮 pocket tanks!
As an alien, I can confirm that- oh shit, is that pocket tanks?
9:35 Would love to see a wiki trivia series on stages
So how Steve's mining works, the tool he uses and the materials he gets is determined by the specific ground collision he's mining. And of the 44 different collision types in ultimate, he has different material rarities for each.
For the collision itself, works essentially like someone took a 2D cutout of the stages and outlined the playable parts using only a straight line tool. And then asigned each individual line a specific collision terrain type.
The doors on norfair (as well as brinstar depths) just use (I believe) the subspace collision type, which is set to be mined with the shovel. In the paper Mario stage every surface on the stage uses the cardboard terrain type, except for the transition section, which has the rarely used default none type.
For Mario maker, it's collision file is a nearly unnavigatable mess, so when they reworked the stages for Steve, they likely just forgot to set the terrain type for the lines that should have been set to the ice terrain type.
The blast zone below KoF might not be a failsafe. I wouldn't be surprised if new stages are created by copying a template stage before making changes. This template stage would presumably have all 4 blastzones, ledges, etc. If KoF was made this way, it's not hard to imagine they would have had to get rid of the side blastzones to start working on the walls, but they would have had no reason to bother getting rid of the bottom blastzone
Holy shit, Pocket Tanks music??? That game went SO hard.
4:40 OOOOOHHH I know this game. This was the best. Loved it.
Let’s go! New video!
As an ancient alien i can confirm we used to bild them out of ice
As ice, this video is alien to me
Alien here: we build our vehicles out of frozen Bio-Thermite. So it's pretty close.
My guess for the whole oob blast zone shenanigans (as someone with a coding background) is that after a certain point, there's some form of collision at the bottom, and the bottom blastzone just extends to that point. Only way I can think of to test it without just reading the code would be swapping for days on end in the hopes you eventually cause a crash or position overflow
To see if the fact that Mewtwo has a projectile final smash is the cause for the buff not being applied, try with ROB and see if the initial homing lasers (not the main one) are the cause and maybe snake as well.
if you do another one of these videos, a small thing that happens with rosa and luma is if you send out luma, recall luma, and as luma is returning, do a down smash, luma will go to rosa instantly (as long as there is nothing in the way). I'm not sure if you went over this already, but it may be useful in very specific uses
My guess as for why theres a blast zone bellow the stage is that theres always blastzones around all sides of the stage by default, and they only removed the side ones for some reason
4:40 I REMEMBER THIS GAME
Awesome 😊
Pocket Tanks mentioned 🔥🔥🔥🔥
A long time ago I travel from Mexico to the US and I still cannot tell you what that UFO is made out of
12:51 "...like when you mine on the water here."
PheonixSC wants to:
* Know your location
Mewtwos final smash is similar to jokers side-b dot effect, which is also totally unaffected by spirits (both receiving and damaging). Mew2s FS did 48% in both cases as shown in the video. I for myself call it "true damage" as it being unaffected to those things, dont know about dmg buffs from items and stuff though. I guess it seems to be a result of delayed damaging effects as the initial hit of jokers side-b does deal increased damage (and mew2s first "hit" might be to stun). By this jigglypuffs rest flower should follow that rule (however i am indecisive about testing because totk release)
Gleep boop, gloop a goo
As an alien, I can confirm that we do not build our UFOs out of ice
How would we have helped built the pyramids if our only means of transportation was made of ice?
With Mewtwo, what I think is happening is that he’s applying an effect to the character via an initial hit, and since that initial hit does 0 damage, any multiplayer still defaults to 0, and the spirit ignores the after effect.
Is there a way to glitch duck hunt all the way out to where pythra were? Maybe try using the can and seeing if the camera acts differently
we actually dipped the ufo in oil so it can fly in the rain
I actually played a lot of Pocket tanks back in the day
pocket tanks was goated
Mewtwo did the same amount of damage no matter what. Maybe they coded it to just do THAT MUCH.
14:08 I think rex is facing the other way here (towards Mythra in stead of towards the camera).
... I guess he's showing them a thing or 3.
Mewtwo's final smash does the same damage regardless of any spirit being equipped.
You sound especially sassy today. Good for you, good for you.
Alien here. While we do not male our spaceships *entirely* out of ice, we melt ice and add it to the metal, which we then *do* use to make spaceships
POCKET TANKS DELUXE IS AMAZING STILL 20 YEARS LATER🎉
Oh HELL YEAH Pocket Tanks
The off-screen bubble thing has its graphics glitch when you go far out enough as Pyra/Mythra on KOF stadium the same way it does for other methods, such as the Luigi ladder btw.
As an alien I can confirm we don't make our own UFOs, we rent them from the ice climbers, that's why it is slippery
I wonder if Corrin was meant to have some mechanic that would activate in the air, or a comeback mechanic that would give her an air attack/defense buff as well as increasing mobility (like extending side b distance)?
my guess for the mewtwo thing:
The Ball Mewtwo shoots is the final smash and this applies the effect that happens on the head of the enemy. The effect might not be considered a final smash. So the ball mewtwo shoots is the final smash part and if that were to deal damage it would do more damage.
It's just a guess though but it makes sense in my head
My theory on the mewtwo final smash is that it was coded like how shadow ball is being a special move rather than a final smash.
Examinee623 is my favorite character from the PKBeats channel.
I wonder if the Corrin Air Attack/Defense thing is an intended feature; since their side special only "works" while airborne, they increased the grounded leap's airtime so you can get more mileage out of a buff to your air game.
15:50
Pyra and Mythra are not taking damage for being off the screen? Is that normal?
oh no steve has broken the game again
Looked into the Super Mario Maker lava thing. It was corrected in version 10.1.0 and the wiki has been updated to mention that.
fun fact in moray towers stage the cat in the backround will show a flag and the color of the flag will show
who is in the lead player 2 is blue player 1 is red player 3 is yellow so on so forth
Weird, my only theory is that maybe the game sees the sudden change of character attributes as soon as they leave the ground so as some weird spaghetti code failsafe it adds more velocity
This is one of the reasons steve is banned on the greatest stage ever conceived by man, Slide Fight
We frost our UFOs with ice, makes it good for landing these things, darn things are always on fire when they enter an atmosphere.
4:35
This unlocked a memory for me
i watched the video before bed as promised (:
The World of Light was fun but not as enjoyable as the levels from Brawl was. Some of the map puzzles were actually quite fun.
