  • Final Fantasy IV was originally released for SNES in 1991 but they never stopped remaking and re-releasing this game. So I decided to play the DS and PSP versions which were seen as the best ways to play until the pixel remaster ruined my plans.

I figured out RPGs were my jam when I was about 9 or 10. I cut my teeth on Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy, but FF4 was by far the game with the biggest impact on eleven-year old me.
I have played every US version as it released, except the PSP version. It really goes to show how well thought out these characters were that Cecil's story can still affect newcomers all these years later.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked FFII the most out of the original trilogy (and played them through the PSP releases as well)!
This video also came out at just the right time, as I am finishing up the PSP version of FFIV for the first time currently. I was considering playing the DS version after beating it, and I think your coverage of it has really cemented that decision for me (I would've tried playing them simultaneously too but I get burned out too easily doing stuff like that lol).
I haven't commented before on any of your videos, but I just wanted to mention that I really appreciate the amount of time that obviously goes into these. Ever since discovering your channel a few months ago I've watched almost all of your reviews by now. It's nice to see someone cover some of the most underappreciated ports of games out there, or just overlooked games in general! I would've never known about Shadow of Destiny if I hadn't watched your review on its PSP port!
Your Sonic N / Advance coverage will be fun to watch when it comes out! Until then, take care!

I like FF2 as well. My biggest problem is that leveling is... really awkward. Easily to manipulate, but still really awkward and rather confusing.

      I really appreciate this.
Sometimes I feel like I talk into a void, especially in my earlier videos. It means a lot to know how it makes people feel.

My older brother LOVES FF2. It’s one of his absolute favorites. I’m happy to see it get some appreciation as well, although I’ve never tried it personally…yet!

These guys are the same folks who would go on to make 4 Heroes of Light. Pretty neat.

I don't think you were reading too much into Cecil's Dark Knight abilities hurting himself as a result of using it. I'm positive that the intention from the writer was to convey that being a dark knight was literally killing him and the reason why I believe that is because the ability "Dark Wave" sucked balls, it was pretty pitiful damage and ended up doing more harm than good. Sure was cool to use every once in awhile though!

It was good to cover my bases just in case I was way off.

I played FFIV on PS1 as an 11 year old and found it a grindy slogfest. I played FFIV on DS as a 17-18 year old and found it a fun challenge. I guess that's brain development 😄

Can't like a video praising Final Fantasy 2.
