I saw him Saturday at the Trabi parade in DC. I drove this one there(had to swap the engine from my yellow one). Roberts car is still running well. Hes got a lot of projects to work on.
Hi, if you are struggleing pulling the engine out, try to jack up the transmission from underneath, gives you a little bit of an angle to maneuver. Also it is a good idea to remove ignition (distributor) plate with ingintion housing, it also gives you a bit of space. Works great for me every time.
14:50 Wait, do all Trabant throttle springs do this!? My Trabi might be ready to fail at any moment, I know for certain my throttle spring in not installed this way, but I never checked if there was a hole!
As far as I know yes, they all hook to that tab, and through the pivot of the carb linkage. Not certain about the later fuel saver carb(the one with the plastic hose on the side). The spring in the video is the wrong type. Look on Trabant welt for the standard kind.
Yes! Another Trabant video. Aging Wheels is all done with his Trabant videos and I needed some more. Fascinating car.

Thanks for the tips. That ignition housing had a bolt badly cross thread/ jammed in it. So no way to get it apart in the car.
