There is fantastic live movie footage of that tour. He had to go all out after breaking up The Police.....and he put together the hottest band of Jazz players out there at the time.....paying them top dollar. Darryl Jones- who is The Stones bass player these days. The great Omar Hakim on drum. Winston Marsalis on sax....among others. And silenced all the haters in the process.

♥️ Loved "Bring on the Night," the behind-the-scenes doc for this tour & album. And I wore out those live in concert CDs. Watching Kenny Kirkland on keyboards is humbling...

I think I'd describe Sting's voice in this as ethereal. I haven't listened to any of his solo stuff so I need to start. The Police did some awesome stuff back in the day.

*Rory.* Thank you ♥️🔥 This is one of my favorite songs of all time - in its various forms, with this being a later arrangement. Sting wrote this tune early in his career while with the jazz fusion band Last Exit. It was used in the creepy film Brimstone & Treacle, which he starred in (playing a guy fixated on an invalid girl). He also performed it with the Police, as well as doing a few different versions solo/with this jazz ensemble, Dream of the Blue Turtles, years later. This version was featured in the terrific doc Bring on the Night, which chronicles the making of his first solo album/combo featuring a bunch of modern day jazz greats.
The original version from the film is totally different, as is the version that Sting did with the Police. All are 🔥
No denying that Sting is a killer musician overall, an incredible lyricist and a melody king. And a great bass player. Sting and the Police draw a lot from reggae. I will send you plenty from the Police and Sting. Prepare yourself 😄
Nala, my cat Ella is also mesmerized by her reflection 😄

Love this whole album. That said, I prefer the version that is featured in the movie where Omar gets to really shine.
