- In this video, you'll see the progress that Pat has made in teaching Handsome to connect Pat's actions and breathing to what is being asked of him. In the recent video with Chinaco, you can see what that end result will be when Pat rides this horse. Here's a link to that video:
• The Connection Between...
We added a mic on Handsome for this video so you are able to clearly hear when he rolls the cricket on the Missing Link Snaffle. For more information, visit our website at www.thediscipli... . I really enjoy these sessions. It is just so refreshing to see someone read a horse and get them to work with you.
I enjoy these Session .
Have a wonderful day
Pat & Deb.
Best videos on the web. Appreciate all y'all do!!
I recently purchased 2 horses from different female owners. They are both what I would call "pocket horses". They want to be in your pocket all the time. I don't know if the gender of the previous owners has anything to do with the behavior or not. Or if it is simply a coincidence. But I have noticed that females tend to want to hug their horses. This might be the cause?
This type of groundwork will also teach your horse some respect for your space....or your circle.
Both of my horses are gentle. The older gelding has been there, done that. He is progressing quickly.
The 8 YO mare is having more difficulty learning to give me some space. She tends to push on me, whether it's on the ground or under saddle. I wouldn't consider her dangerous, or hard, just a bit pushy. As a matter of fact, she is quite soft. She has her idea of where we are going. So, I am constantly redirecting her. That's what I mean by "pushy". She doesn't wait for my direction or continue where I point her but she is very willing to take direction. She just doesn't like to wait for me to give it.
Glad to see you out there working; America needs more people like you Deb!
Humbling watching you work Mr. Puckett.
Awesome!🥰
Love listening to the cricket❤
This is just amazing what you are able to do! trying to be a little humble student!
Love these videos so thankful and happy to see you up and going. I hope people see the inspiration of your determination to keep going and teaching no matter the wreck. I have been watching long enough to see the hip and the neck. Thank you so much
Nicely done Levi! From a neighbor just up the river in Malaga.
Great to see you up and about mate, take it easy
another good one pat,thanks
Glad you are healing well. How would you work with a gentle and dull horse?
Extremely interesting concerning the Ibex. Hadnt known of that.
Pat I watched these two episodes and decided to try it on my own OTTB. I haven’t ‘lunged’ him in over a year because he just did not like it. So we tried other things. However I feel that I need to work him in the round pen a little to get his attention more focused on me. After watching your videos I tried the same in the round pen. He walked ok for the first turn ; then I did some walk stop transitions. Then I wanted to get him going counterclockwise and he would not let me get behind his drive line. He kept turning his head to me. I literally could turn him 360 degrees just by trying to get behind his drive line. He kept squaring up to me. Now I’m a novice and don’t have much confidence. Therefore I put his halter back on and decided to just lead him around. I felt like a failure but I really was not sure how to get around him, with the way he kept turning to face me. Any input on future videos would be great !
Define "driveline."
@@PatnDebPuckett I stand behind the shoulder and a little angled to the girth area. I am a few feet away from him. I use my lead rope to ‘spur’ him on because he just plants his feet. However he just turns to face me when I approach him. I try to get around his head to get behind his shoulder but he just keeps turning with me, as if to block me.
@@PersonalTriumph2022 He feels comfortable having you in both eyes but not one and it sounds like you aren't blocking his eye. Also you are walking around him instead of having him walk around you. Here are a couple of videos on groundwork that might help you:

Thank you so much !
Filling in some shallow holes.
I broke my neck one year ago yesterday and had the same neck brace. My neck is still stiff. When you get it off you won't be able to move your neck very much, but it comes back. You will look like a pencil neck but it comes back quickly. Good luck. It sure sucks.
Where is Shashoni ?
I SO worry about you and your insane over doing it! Please don’t, your videos are to valuable
