A Fur Coat in the Washing Machine?!? LG Heavy Duty Cycle

Yes, it's a real fur coat from Jacques Saint Laurent dating back to around 1980. It is what's known as a "faux" fur coat which means artificial but still not a cheap coat at all. The same company makes real animal fur coats as well and it's a known name in the industry. The faux fur was worth the risk valued at hundreds vs the animal fur worth thousands just to prove this theory. "Do you really have to take your fur coat to the cleaners?" The answer is no. Of course you should probably wash it on the delicate cycle, but I would hope that watching it violently thrashing around in the heavy duty cycle and receiving no damage would boost your confidence that it's ok. But don't quote me! I only know that it worked for me! The most important thing to worry about is the dryer. Dry with very low heat, or no heat, or no dryer! Hang it out on the clothes line, and keep an eye on it so that your neighbors don't run off with it.
Would I try this with a real animal, like a mink coat? Well, only if I got it for free. :)

Thanks. I use Seventh Generation laundry detergent (liquid). It's plant based.

Surprised this washer is still working after all these years. For an LG machine they typically don't last this long. Have you had to do any repairs on it yet?

No repairs at all. Very impressed! Even after the load with 450 golf balls, which spun out of control at the end. Washing machines are tough! The matching dryer has had no problems either.

I didn’t know that you can machine wash a fur coat so I’ll have a go it’s far too dammed expensive to dry clean, it costs more The the coat 🧥!!!

Oh, be careful. What I'm washing here is a faux fur coat which is a high quality fake fur coat. I wouldn't put real fur in there...

You should have put faux fur. Nothing in comparison to a real fur. This is washing plastic or polyester.
